Khao San Road Feels Pinch as European Tourists Hold Off on Bookings - video
RSD1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Unbelievable, how could bookings be down? Can't understand why somebody wouldn't want to fly 12 hours just to hang around in one of Southeast Asia's biggest and most expensive backpacker slums? It just doesn't make any sense that they aren't coming. I don't buy it!- 65 replies

Driving round on my Harley shouting 'Slava Ukraini' to passers by..

Probably more than half those Russians in Pattaya are runaways. -

Even when he gets off the Harley, it's his chaps with trainman boots, and no pants on that makes him a dead giveaway. -

And where do you go to find those hairy protruding growlers that you said you like to chew on? -

Well done. They deserve it. Also sounds exactly like what bob would do when he goes out to buy more tins on his afternoon run. I think they probably got the memo though last week when the UK sent over some Storm Shadows. HELLO! -
He wont be shacking up with anyone in Panama. This whole topic is just a windup.

Getting Old: Stoic About It or Endless Whinger?

There are also healthy 90 year olds too. -
So everyone here who is moaning about the challenges of making Thai male friends has had these problems in Panama?

Have you ever tried the breakfast special at Baywatch Restaurant on Pattaya Beach Road? I haven't been there in a very long time, perhaps more than 10 years now, but they used to do a good breakfast with two eggs, some potatoes, mushrooms, two pieces of bacon and a fried sausage. I think it includes orange juice and coffee. From what I remember it was pretty good back in the day.

I know I'm going off topic here, but the beer is still around and can even be bought online. I think it only comes in bigger bottles now and the old yellow cardboard packaging is no longer used. I read the following on a website that's selling the beer: Herforder Pils is a golden, quite dry and hoppy pilsner, a firm favourite of the Army personnel who served in and around Herford in Germany. This Herforder pils though is not the small bottles in “yellow handbags” but the full 500ml size.

Interesting about that German beer. I wonder if it was any good or perhaps just one of their crappy local piltz brews. The reference to banging like a belt fed mortar is very humorous, but obviously borrowed from British military speak. That's what tipped me off. I also read that the term “Herfie handbag” is British military slang that refers humorously to a container or bag used by a soldier to carry personal items or snacks, particularly in a casual or non-standard way. In a broader context I also read that “Herfie” itself is slang for a cigarette break or social gathering, often during military downtime.

This point basically sums up why this is just another bob smith troll windup topic. Nobody gifts you a woman for your pleasure as a prize if you go to visit them in another country. Meanwhile, others have now hijacked this topic to talk about the difficulties in making friends with Thai men. But this is off-topic and bob smith already created a topic about it in 2022 that went on for 11 pages and so did someone else again in 2023:

bob, just stick to Soi 6/1. No need to travel all the way beyond South America for your bologna pony fix. Thailand still has some of the best ladyboys money can buy, hands down. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right mate?

I’ve come across many posts discussing how THC levels claimed by vendors in Thailand are often exaggerated. A common suggestion is to look up the actual THC content of these strains on websites like Leafly or AllBud. However, it’s important to remember that the strains being sold locally may not come from the same genetics as the original ones listed on these websites. In my experience, I’ve purchased weed in Thailand, looked up the strain online, and found that the flowers often look quite different from the photos of the original strain. That doesn’t mean the product I bought was bad, just that it likely wasn’t the exact same as the original. When it comes to THC content, taking the numbers listed on international websites and applying them to what you’ve purchased locally can be tricky. A strain might be listed as having 25% THC on a website, but the actual THC level can vary greatly depending on how the plant was grown. If the growing conditions weren’t optimal, the final product may not match the reported THC percentage. So, I’d recommend taking strain names and THC percentage claims in Thailand with a grain of salt. That said, there’s plenty of excellent and potent weed available here, so just enjoy it and don’t stress too much about the specifics.

Untoasted bread with smears of hard butter. That should be illegal! What are those sliced up bits of fried white stuff? Mushrooms?

TBH, my breakfast never resembles anything like what the British or Americans eat for breakfast. I eat eggs almost everyday, but never in the morning. My first food of the day is usually some fruit, some nuts, a protein shake, and about an hour later then a normal prepared meal with some type of chicken for protein. In the afternoon I then normally eat some scrambled eggs, often with a salad.
