How long before there are lots of Russian over-stayers ?

I hope other tourist countries can up their game as the safest thing for tourists to do is to AVOID Thailand... this sort of nonsense will never end...

so they are not worried about pregnant men being a health risk ?

So why is Thailand not offering them asylum, giving them a home and giving them pocket money as well as feeding them ? Oh silly me, that would be a western country, not a fellow Asian country...

Great idea.. message to all foreign tourists, check out and compare prices in Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, or maybe even closer to home and get a cheaper air ticket... surprise surprise, Thailand is not the only tourist destination... let the market decide.... but don't cry if it all goes wrong..

This onward ticket business is a load of nonsense, when like the OP, you intend your exit to the country, to be by land.. but the dumb and blind seems to insist on these stupid rules - thankfully, this is not the case for Cambodia - yet.... so yes, you are wise to abide by these nonsense rules...

I think if I started saying things like there is no such thing as free choice, I would get a lot of angry people... but then that will only be because of their past circumstances over which they had no control.. I had better shut up now...

As far as I was aware, a great many people in Russia still support Putin, sure, it can be down to propaganda as many Germans supported Hitler at one stage. But people need to take responsibility for who they decide to support....

2 or 2 months is ideal for me in one year. I take your point about the market they are aiming for.... i just don't understand what the downside would be to 60 days.. what would the cost to Thailand be.... ?

I think there are a good number of older people who have the time to travel around the world at leisure.. you don't have to be that wealthy... I get a one month extension when I am in Thailand... better if I did not have to apply for this...

They should just try 3 months tourist visa free entry, allowing two times a year and see what happens.. absolutely nothing to lose by giving this a go...

What would Thailand lose by having 3 months visa exempt ?... are they worried about evil foreigners using too much of Thailand up ?... small minded clowns comes to mind...

well, this will go down well with the high quality wealthy tourists.. can you imagine the queue at immigration, as they have their wealth as in what they are wearing and carrying taxed .. only in Thailand... what a bunch of hypocrites..

These people are not born this way, they are created. I have seen how Thai and Khmer parents (I don't know about other SE Asian countries) strictly control their children. This applies to boys and girls, but mothers around the world, do treat a son differently to a daughter - it can be observed within one hour of birth. I have seen it in a Thai family where a son was raised primarily by his aunt when his mother was overseas. This teenager was so immature compared to what I would have been at his age. His emotions are repressed - stamped on. They are time bombs waiting to go off. I think it also explains why these young men go wild when they get away from their family (for a short time) when they have some "freedom" when they get a small motorcycle. In the case I refer to, his cousin of 15 died riding a motorcycle. So should we be surprised when they carry all this psychological baggage (immaturity) into adulthood. The simple fact is they are in effect, still just children and they act like someone stole their football. It is Thai society that needs to look long and hard at itself.
