I would be interested to know the outcome, so please keep us all informed. I’ve done this in the past but don’t think it is doable now.

The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Discuss.

The difficulty begins when someone starts a family and settles in Thailand. It’s a bit more difficult to return home when you have family ties ... and returning means having to prove that you can support a family ... not so easy for a pensioner. If immigration rules tighten further many will find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place.

I love Chiang Mai also, but couldn’t live there due to the nasty air pollution ... maybe you like wearing a mask half the year?

I don't think the deal will pass (I haven't seen the deal so I can't speak on whether I want it to pass or not). But I still suspect the reason BJ has that smug smile on his face is that he knows the request for an extension will be declined by at least one country...
Hungary?
Are you not the same guy who told me that we'd be leaving on 31 March 2019 ... ?
Wrong again. There is not one EU country that would throw away political capital to help engineer a no deal Brexit ... Orban knows that the EU would turn off the money tap. If an extension is needed, for an election or referendum, it will be granted.

Correct and let's pass the photo-id legislation whilst were at it a significant portion of the Leave vote don't have driving licences or passports so we can disenfranchise them at a stroke.
Thankfully, quite a few of them have had a stroke ... so the confirmatory referendum attached to Boris's deal will be fun.

At long last. And tell the DUP to go and stuff themselves, if they freaking don't like it. IMO, enough Labour MPs and LD will support the deal for johnson to gain a majority. He's got Friday to gain their support possibly by stating it's just a first step to prosperity where everyone would benefit in the long run. A Unicorn world.
As for a 2nd referendum, forget it as the 'the people' have already demonstrated they know zilch about the cost of tea in China.
Name one Liberal Democrat who would vote for this deal?
The deal will pass, subject to a second referendum ... otherwise it will not get through.

I reckon you’re fine to enter Thailand on a tourist visa that’s extendable by 30 days and use that time to secure a teaching job. I’m not sure that arriving then departing then arriving again is a great plan .... unless you have little history of coming in and out of Thailand? Could you not go to Tokyo first to avoid that?

I was thinking the same thing ... deportation is a blessing. What was she thinking having drugs on her in Thailand? That's something you leave at your home country.

So much for all these fony prediction charts people were posting about 31_ baht
A "no deal" crash out might well have resulted in 31 Baht ... but a deal with a smooth transition is a real positive for GBP. So hardly phony?

Pound jumped from 37 to 38 this morning.
Apparently Brexit isn't as damaging as you all predicted.
It's a no deal Brexit that will send GBP over a cliff, not a deal Brexit ... as I'm sure you know ... but a referendum won by Remain would send GBP even higher.

We’re all sadly living in a world populated by people who believe in “feelings” rather than facts.

Max lives in his own alternative reality, where the facts change to fit his opinion.
From memory, GBP climbed higher when traders thought Remain would win, and it popped even more when Nigel Farage conceded defeat, even though he had exit polls that told him Leave had won. It then fell like a stone.

Yes, Three years in indeed a huge difference between the two
No surprise that the salient point went whizzing over your head Max?
That point being that the UK never left the EU the day after the vote, but everything changes the day after a “no deal” exit ... seems the penny hasn’t dropped yet?

There would be a probability of Brexit Party winning an election , there may be a small probability, but it wouldnt be "zero chance " .
So, there would be a small chance, rather than no chance
About the same chance as a one legged man winning an ass kicking competition.

Project fear.......their words not mine!
Project fear was when no major economic calamity occurred after the vote .... but despite that GBP fell heavily and stayed there, investment fell below expectations, and the UK has enjoyed lower growth since. And we haven’t left yet?
Anyone who thinks “no deal” would be a picnic isn’t paying attention. There is a huge difference between the day after the referendum and the day after no deal. Project reality.

There’s quite a bit of confidence from the Leavers on here that you’ll get a short period where GBP drops before bouncing back. After the referendum essentially nothing changed, the UK was still in the EU ... sentiment was enough to send GBP crashing, and there has been little recovery. After a no deal this sheet gets real, you are out of the EU, with major economic disruptions and a different trading situation. Different and worse. You’ll all soon understand what no deal actually entails. It won’t be pretty.

Absolutely, he likes other people. A misanthrope like me would require a property at least two miles from the nearest neighbour.

If your dogs are in their own compound then it’s perfectly natural for them to bark when strangers pass, and as they are contained they are no danger to anyone. What bothers me is if a dog or dogs are allowed to roam free and approach people barking, as the stranger has no idea what their intentions are ... such owners are highly irresponsible.

Your post is a typical one from the “Thaier than Thai” fraternity that pollute Thai Visa.
Thai Visa is a good source of information on the pit falls of living in Thailand. A rose tinted view of Thailand is useless for the many who arrive here from another country but haven’t done their homework. It’s important to get a warts and all view if you are a newcomer, and once you get there you can take your time to understand the place, whilst avoiding pitfalls.
I’m a great deal more grateful to the people who post “negatively” than those that try to silence them.

No,Chile and Thailand has a bi-lateral agreement that gives citizens from Chile 90 days on arrival without applying for a Visa at home. It's not 60+30 days.
Okay, I’ve never heard of that before. But my central point is that it is no longer possible to be a perpetual “tourist”, and come for 90 days, pop over to Vietnam for a few days, return to Thailand, then rinse and repeat.
My guess is is that the OP will have no trouble visiting Thailand for 90 days once per year ... but if he tries to stay longer he’ll get immigration issues.
