Just take your new passport, and bank book. I did mine a couple of years ago with kasikorn, paperwork up the ying yang, sign here, sign there; you might want to take a packed lunch! I can never understand why banks, immigration offices, car dealers, you name it, have to waste enough paper to destroy a forest every day.

Tough <deleted>! They should have thought about that before obeying orders from the despot of the year! -

And how are the Soi Dogs going to be kept off the track! -
I don't play with the Pattaya Taxi Mafia! I'd walk first! I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra, but I draw the line at extortion!

Two of my immediate neighbours have dogs that don't stop barking. One of them howls most nights anywhere between 2 and 4. I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep. The owner also has a few cats that constantly <deleted> in my garden, and cause my 2 dogs to throw a wobbly. In fact, I'm completely surrounded by dogs, and mine are the only ones that don't bark all day.

I've been bitten by a dog twice, and both times, the owners said the dog wasn't theirs; but I saw them feed it every day, then leave it to roam the soi. Most Thais have a dog as a must-have accessory when they buy/rent a house, but they won't take responsibility for it. I have 2 dogs. I take them out twice a day, and pick-up their mess. But I'm the only person in the village that does that; if I just let my dogs out on their own, my ears would be burning permanently.

What do I need for the bed of my pickup?
Moti24 replied to alien365's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The umbrella is a must have, for keeping the bottles cool. The 10 empties were probably only the breakfast session; do another count later. -

About two dozen Myanmarese workers should do it! You'll fit right in! -

has anyone felt something happen a few nights ago? I did! But she told me it was included in the price! -
There should be penalties for pedestrians, and those who are glued to their phones in shopping malls; I'm fed-up with having to walk around them!

Interior ministry and police force declare war on drugs

I quite agree. A UK nursing home is not for me either. I'm a firm believer that on the day you are born, your exit date is already on the calendar. The bit in the middle is just a hurdle race with plenty of fences to jump. I have no complaints about my life, so whatever I have to look forward to, bring it on!

Video: "Good Thai driving" makes up for bad motorcycle riding
Moti24 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Apart from the usual Thai motorcyclist, the pickup driver must have been on the phone or half asleep. I can't believe this is even news! -
What did Thais do before smart phones?
Moti24 replied to BangkokReady's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
What did people working in shops, waiting at bus stops, on a break from their job, etc., do before the smart phone? Eat, Eat and Eat! Go into any shopping mall, at any time of the day, and the staff are too busy stuffing their faces to serve! Did I mention, Eat! -
What is the current Government electricity rate for tenants?
Moti24 replied to spambot's topic in The Electrical Forum
What is the current Government electricity rate for tenants? Whatever the landlord can get away with; that means, whatever they like! Some years ago, landlords were told that they can't charge more that the published rate. But, nothing changed. A lot of landlords are currently openly advertising 10/11 baht per Kwh, more than double the published rate. -
Cabinet set to decide on 300 baht fee for foreign tourists
Moti24 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
As far as I can remember, some of the 300Baht was to provide medical insurance for travellers. Whatever it was for, to take 300baht before they've even collected their luggage is a bit below the belt. -

Just another cash-cow; is there no end to it! -
Every time my wife gets her tyres pimped-up in a local motorcycle shop, she comes back with 60psi in both tyres, so I deflate them to 35psi. It's a safe bet that this guy's tyres were over inflated, giving him zero grip; the reason there are so many motorcycle accidents in Thailand. But yes, it's quite possible the truck driver pulled-out in front.

Police Summon Mountain B Pub Electrician, To Charge Him With Negligence
Moti24 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
About 12 years ago, I rented a new house, just outside Bangkok, three-pin sockets in all rooms. After getting a tiny shock from the casing of my PC, I checked the wiring - The consumer unit had an earth wire connected from the outside of the house, but only 2-core cable had been used from the consumer unit around the house. Qualified or not, I don't think it makes a difference; nobody checks qualifications, nor ongoing work.
