  1. Always a good idea to keep a UK address (family member, friend) for your UK bank.
  2. If you've only been there a week, just take dated photos of all the marks/damage and send them to the agent/owner so that it's all on record.
  3. No need. I'm pleased to report Smoochi is still up and running for Bangkok.
  4. Been living and working in Thailand since 2005.
  5. Yes, sold my London apartment after 2 years of a nightmare renting it out. Now, nothing back home and no family either. I "own" a house in rural Laos in my wife's village, but none of us fancy living there yet (or ever, for me) and living there legally for myself and my British son won't be easy, as my marriage isn't recognised in Laos. None of us are Thai, so although our future is here for the next few years (hopefully decades), it might not be easy.
  6. Detection for what? Bars providing sexual service on the premises are regularly raided.
  7. The black passport is horrible; hopefully we'll get our burgundy one back soon.
  8. Presumably your daughter has a UK passport? All UK Visitor visas are for 6 months. However, she'll need to indicate how long she plans to stay in the UK on the application, and assuming she has a job back in Thailand, she'll need to show how she can be away for that long. She (or you) will also need to show you have the funds for a 6-month stay. There is no requirement to be married, although if you're sponsoring her you'll need to provide evidence that you have a genuine relationship.
  9. Hopefully to satisfy Immigration's requirement to show a Bangkok address. So, can the hotel produce one?
  10. If I check into a hotel, a TM30 is filed by the hotel, presumably overnight? Can I request a copy/screenshot of the TM30 report on checking out the next day, in order to show Immigration later that day?
  11. Your source is Stickman ???? ????
  12. In Chiang Mai?
  13. It's the gambling that's illegal, not the cock fighting, right?
  14. Indeed. No wonder people still get confused about what are completely different things!
  15. If by visa you mean a sticker or stamp issued by a Thai Embassy overseas, then it cannot be transferred. You just keep both passports until the visa has expired. If you actually mean an Extension of Stay ("admitted until...') stamp, issued at a point of entry into Thailand or an Immigration office in Thailand, you need to get the stamp transferred.
  16. No. There is no charge for the service. They give you the form when you get your queue ticket. I don't think it's downloadable.
  17. No, it's a legit form used at Chaengwattana too.
  18. Unsurprising results so far! My wife is 30 years younger than me and I don't, currently, have a girlfriend.
  19. I understand that you can make an appointment for a Work based extension at Chaengwattana. How far in advance can the appointment be made and is there a link for doing this online? Cheers
  20. My poor son has it doubly tough - he's 'mixed race' Lao/British but studies at a Thai school!
  21. UK passports are issued by HMPO in Liverpool. What difference does it make using the Embassy (still issued by HMPO) or the VFS office (still issued by HMPO) to check and forward the documentation to the UK?
