2023 Bangkok International Motor Show
JayBird replied to ozimoron's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Is there any benefit from buying during a show as opposed to at the show? For normal cars, not luxury or super. -
Hello all, Need to renovate a house and looking for suggestions for people to help. I know of home pro, but am curious if there are other or better options. Right now looking for sun blocking curtains, interior paint jobs to make the place look nice, and possibly a new kitchen. Side note:. The house has one of those basic default built-in kitchen inside it. Are they difficult to remove? Also welcome any other guidance you may feel will help. Thank you all.

Thai Tour Guides Unite to Address Issue of Illegal Foreign Guides
JayBird replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Are you getting compensated? Are you doing this on a frequent (daily basis all year)? If not, you're not a guide. The legit guides have to go through a process (and learn a language) to do their jobs. The non legit guides get to bypass all that and earn a non traceable amount of money. This issue should be addressed. -

Long queue at Hua Hin immigration
JayBird replied to heiri007's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can you not do 90 day report online in Hua Hin? -
Seems hit and miss for me. Some days I get two, sometimes I go days without.

Go-To Pharmacy in Hua Hin for less common stuff.
JayBird replied to JayBird's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am
Actually no, that's pretty easy to find. Sounds like there might not be one in Hua Hin. -
Bangkok has the Chinese pharmacy in Nana. Pattaya has one on second road next to Tim's. What's the equivalent in Hua Hin? Thank you.

When did Thai Elite Visa start?
JayBird replied to mohsen667's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Cost for 20 year is 1M. No annual fees. 90 day reports can be done alone or online in five minutes. Government's stability issues have not had any real effect on the tourism sector. TE is a cash cow, so is very unlikely to be effected. -
Jeremy Clarkson says he is 'horrified' over Meghan column
JayBird replied to Scott's topic in World News
Clarkson has a different way of talking. He doesn't mean things literally, and says things more to express an idea or sentiment in an over exaggerated way. Also, no one should care what he says, he's just voicing his thoughts, and others should ignore. He often says this himself. -
Why is Thai immigration so <deleted>ty?
JayBird replied to gejohesch's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He's suspecting that you are not a real tourist but rather someone using the tourist visa to stay for non tourist reasons. Perhaps planning to live here or maybe even a possible over stayer. Given your travel history and that you are not staying in a hotel, he has reason- 123 replies

Kuwaiti man arrested on Pha-ngan Island for 16 days of overstay
JayBird replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Did he know he was on overstay? 16 days does not seem enough to warrant a wall of police men. The law is the law, fine. But this seems a little over enthusiastic. -
Indonesia passes criminal code banning sex outside marriage
JayBird replied to webfact's topic in World News
Keep in mind, a lot of these laws are meant to only be used to go after people the state does not like. It's not as if they care if the couple are married. But if they want to punish someone they don't like, they got one more tool. -

Technically, a country that uses the cloak of Islam to execute it's own agenda. Leaders using religion as an excuse is as old as religion itself. -
Public Health Ministry Opposes 4 A.M.Closing Time For Night Venues
JayBird replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If the argument was to close at 6pm or even 8pm to avoid COVID spreading, i could understand. But 2 vs 4 am will not make a difference. It is not likely that at 2am one finally decides to unmask and snog, but not do that at 1am. I would like to see his data to backup this claim. Making baseless claims here diminishes credibility when he tries to claim marijuana is safe. -

Sun is cheap, has good machines, but is cramped and can often be busy. Reports about air con being weak there Fitness 7 has more space and more equipment for heavy lifting but is about 1600 a month. Half the gym has good air con. Coco is slightly cheaper and has more air con, but not geared towards heavy lifting. Then there is muscle factory, no air con, but better equipment. Can be busy at times

Thai government offers 60 billion baht in savings bonds to the public
JayBird replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Can't you just sell/trade the bonds, like one does with other government or corporate bonds?
