When I owned a bar in Bangkok, people were amazed at the number of coffee/tea drinkers in the bar all day.

Wife has a soft shoulder for old people on their way out. We get calls about a distant cousin or not related at all, has died and needed basic death care, cloth covering, etc. (not very expensive) but hardly a week goes by that someone dies and needs help. I(we) can afford such expense. Her children are self-sufficient hard working and are not a burden but many of the old folks are dying at a rapid pace. While still alive we provide some food necessities and things like diapers. My American wife committed suicide, no loss there, my daughter and I get on well and my son no longer speaks to me. I am quite comfortable with my Thai family and figure just a couple more years before I join the grass pushers.

I came to Thailand for a short visit that turned into bar ownership for three years. All clients and most staff spoke English. Did a hitch in Sudan, then back to bar, then a job in Saudi Arabia that lasted 13 years. My wife picked up English and I managed basic directions from her (like Shut up). Now back to Thailand and am not exposed to Thai except for wife's phone conversations. I'm two months short of 79 and I cheated my way through Latin (except what I needed as an altar boy), cheated my way through Espanol but I just can't do languages. I can do basic directions in Thai (to wife "stop hitting me") meow cop. So I languish in a world of English ignorance and it has not killed me yet (except the marriage part).

Keep this repeatedly in the public eye, particularly the police negligence (no brown envelope). Don't those ladies know how much paperwork is involved, eg How far up the leg; touch the knickers?, penetration? what was the decibel of your scream; why didn't lady next to you also scream WOW was a mess it would take weeks to write such a report, anyhow, he's a Thai man, what's the problem?

Do English Immigration records reflect her entry and departure.? Do Thai Immigration records record her re-entry to Thailand? This is a tough cold case designed for BIG COP. 

Anything to do with sensible driving is lost on the Thai mind. The Thai driving test is a joke.

Try a relationship with a restaurant that specializes in pork ribs and/or steaks.

Going on a trip? Don't bother, stay home and have a picnic.

My wife and many members of her family are great ghost believers, usually or mostly deceased family members, the older the better. She chides me for being a non-believer in anything except a nice mattress and a good blanket. When I become aware of being in another state (spiritual) I will adjust my attitude. I do require that 191 be notified before they start throwing dirt on top  of me.
