Look at point 3 in the document in the OP by Ubonjoe.
An IO could issue you a 30 day extension for being affected by the Corona outbreak, but they have no obligation to do this. So you should try it with begging.
What kind of begging would suffice? Should I try to kiss the hands of the immigration officers? Not the best idea at the Covid times, I guess. What else?

What about people who can't get a letter and just got a 7 day extension only once, that can not be given again? In this case, what are we supposed to do but overstay as they won't give even 7 days anymore without a letter from the embassy. I mentioned it in more detail here:
We are supposed to leave the country.

What was the exact date that your permission of stay were to expire before you applied for any of the 2nd extensions?
I will reply for him: he wrote above his previous extension was to end on 29.03.

I applied for renewal on 23 and was denied. So I think they’re counting from that date as 30 days after is apr 22
But it never was like this before. It should always start from the date your previous visa/extension ends. The date of application was always irrelevant in the past.

No his original date out was March 29 and then given 7 days to April 5, but today they only gave 30 days from the date of application
The day of application was today. They actually gave him An extension from the day of the ‘refused’ application on 22 or 23... Stingy as hell.

So the seven days they gave from the end of his visa like a normal extension, but the 30 days they gave from his date of first applying. How miserly.
Yes , that is ridiculous. Even not from the day of application (today).

Today my embassy has informed me one more time that they will NOT give me any kind of letter for the purposes of prolonging my stay in Thailand. Can I take this reply to the Pattaya immigration? Will they care about me more than the embassy of my own country? Yes, for sure!

They hate the fact that they have to do this and want us gone as soon as possible.
This is exactly what it feels like. They gave him the minimum they could give starting from the date he first time ASKED them to prolong his extension. Which is an absurd.

I guess his permit to stay expired on 22.03., then he went to apply for an extension. His extension request was denied and he got 7 days to leave the country (29.03.)
Now he applied again and this time the extension was granted. The 7 days to leave the country is probably not considered as a regular extension, so the now granted extension starts on the day his previous permit to stay expired, thus allowing him to stay until (22.04.)
Same happens in case you were on overstay and apply for an extension, the days which you have been on overstay will not be added. So if somebody with a 10 days overstay applies for an extension, even though he pays 5k THB fine, he will only be allowed to stay 20 more days.
Unfortunately you are wrong. Here is his quote:
-they denied me on monday and gave me seven days to apr 5

they gave me until April 22 which I calculate is 30 days from the date of my failed extension attempt
You said your previous extension was to expire on 29 of March and they gave you a new extension until 22.04 only? That is 7 days less than 30 days. What happens to these people? Why are they so stingy at these hard times?

Guys to just clarify they are not ignoring the directive. Just their interpretation requires a letter from embassy WITH NAME OF INDIVIDUAL previously letters were only generic with no names.
this applies to everyone not just Americans. Of course we are trying to be all inclusive.

Those cheating the system (like you) shouldn't complain when immigration try to make it easier for you to stay despite these troubled times. Do you think your own country would do the same? No they'd have you out on your sorry, self entitled, backside before your feet touched the ground.
Please, collect your stuff and go back to your country. Don’t abuse the hospitality of the locals. You might easily be the one using the scarce hospital resources in the critical times which otherwise would have saved the Thai citizen’s life. And don’t worry about us tourists: we only game the system while you might overburden and destroy it with your presence alone. Quoting yourself: these aren’t normal times.

And do you think that is the only cost? No overhead, no salaries, nothing? I repeat the admin cost is the same regardless, whether that is 1 Baht or 1,900 Baht is irrelevant.
I always thought that these fees are a kind of a tax for a visitors using The public facilities in Thailand (like the roads, beaches etc). So why the one using those public infrastructure for 7 days pays the same amount as the one using it all year long?
By the way, the easy calculation will show you that if those fees were a big part of administrative fees like salaries etc - then every one of those working at immigration would have 100 k usd salary a month at least.

My bet is that on 26 of March all the immigration offices will be closed for visitors with total visa amnesty declared for everybody already in Thailand. It should have happen at least a month ago but better late than never.

7 days extension given instead. For the price of 30 day extension - 1900 thb.

The situation has definitely changed. Not only this is a wrong time for any touristic activity but it is also the worst time for the traveling of any kind. Taking the bus to the crowded airport. Spending hours there waiting for your plane. The flight itself is not less than 10 hours. If there is not a direct flight - then add more time in the airpot and more time in the sky in the fully packed plane cabin. Would you personally take that kind of risk at these times, when nobody (even the best of the experts) knows for sure what is the nature of this virus and the real degree of danger it represents for each of us? I personally prefer to stay Isolated in my Thai apartment until the situation is getting somewhat better.

But were you just ‘visiting’ (like a real tourist) or were you actually ‘living’ here? My daughters come here every year as tourists. They stay for 3-4 weeks. We travel around the country, enjoying the sights and sounds and flavours. They then return to the UK where they ‘live’.
In all these years, they’ve never had a problem with IO’s in Swampy or DMK.
See the difference?
If you are familiar with the Thai nightlife terminology you should know that though there is a clear distinction before Short time and Long time - still both terms refer to the one and the same type of mongering activity. Same with the tourism. You can be a one day tourist and you can also be a long time tourist exploring the place on a, so to say, DEEPER level.

The definition of the word ‘tourist’ by google:
— a person who is traveling or visiting a place for pleasure.
Now based on what do you claim that I am not a tourist if I already got several tourist visas in the Thai embassy in Cambodia. I am a perfect tourist for google, I am a perfect tourist for Thai embassy, but, for some reason, I am just a cheater gaming the system for you. Again, more explanation needed.

Same photos could be made yesterday at Pattaya immigration. Same amount of people, no distancing whatsoever, just checking the temperature when letting you inside the building (obviously to protect themselves, not you who already spent 40 minutes standing face to face with other visitors). I regret for not making the photos.
Found one on the internet. Pay attention - there are several lines under the roof not seen at his photo. Later all these people are let in inside the mail building where at least 100 people stay in the crowded and small place.

How exactly do I game the system? I get to the Thai embassy abroad, apply for the visa, pay the fees and get the stamp. Do I provide the fake documents? Or the money I pay the fees with is fake?
The same way I can blame you on gaming the system. Who knows what is your real age? And do you really love your wife and not just married her to get more rights for staying in Thailand?

Just now, DannyCarlton said:Big difference. You are here on a tourist visa, I'm here on a retirement visa.
You Consider yourself entitled to stay in Thailand during these hard times and advise me to take a dangerous 24 hours long trip to my country. Because I am “just a tourist”. Do you consider tourists to be the second class people who should be treated worse than those who , for example, retired in Thailand? Could you explain your reasoning behind those views?
