Not true, Plenty of Gogo bars on Soi LK are open, serving drinks and have lots of ladies, they just aren't dancing the same as before, but they will jump on stage fully dressed and dance around for a few minutes. Many of the GCs are open also.

These are restaurants, not Gogo's or GC's

  2. At the last music festival, they wanted 2 vax and a negative test to get into the restricted zone near the stages, with no booze or dancing allowed.

All along the beach people were 5-deep and 7/11 couldn't sell drink quick enough.

Not a mask to be seen, and 2 weeks later Pattaya was getting record numbers of positive covid tests.

So all through March may see the figure peak again somewhere near..... Songkran.

-Nightmare scenario, easily corrected with an on-site test, wait a couple hours, then released (as happened to someone else in this string).

-Between this, and especially testing positive here (if truly on holiday), a couple reasons to stay away, for now. However, OP had a better reason to travel than many.

Sounds like the Hospital 10-day scam swung straight into action,

Must have been a quiet day for the hospital

bring it to the mainstream press attention and see how it goes down. The Thai immigration will back down from that stance instantly. Trust me. There is no Thai immigration law that states "aliens who are subject to immigration control must be deprived from nutrition" or something alike.

Get the story to the press including the "we starved for 14 hours" part. This is going to backfire, not even a Thai judge would stand behind that stance.

The immigration officer is abusing his authority.

    Exactly what you should do.

Get this in the press back in the USA.

Circulate your experience to anyone thinking of travelling to Thailand.

Sadly, I think yours may not be the only incident like this,

    I see, then it's settled. ????

I see that it's closing around 4pm. Going in the morning would be the obvious choice but I'm working until ~1pm. To book an appointment, would your guess that 2-3h is sufficient?

Also, how far ahead did you get your appointment? Thanks! ????

I think you need to be at the DLT by 2.30pm when making the appointment.

I was offered the day the day after my licence expires.

The options are for 9am or 2.30pm -- up to you.

But it looks like they are only accepting 20 for each session

I believe I've finally all the documents in order. Am I able to book an appointment at the DLT or should I just go out there in the morning? Can I get everything done in one day? I'm trying my best to find info on the website, but no success.

    Bang Lamung/Chon Buri

I went to the Pattaya DLT on Monday, you need to go there in person with your current licence and passport to book the appointment date.

  7. "The first game of February was played at Pattaya Country Club in warm sunny conditions. As always since the renovations, the course was in excellent condition, and with an all-in fee of twelve hundred and eighty baht for senior cardholders"

What are the rules regarding senior cardholders ??

Do you just show id to prove your age, or do you need to have some kind of special card ??

And what is the rate if you don't qualify as "senior" ?

    Thanks

That's on the way I've been told. My wife did mine for me using my Thai ID number from my yellow book. We asked about the English version whilst at the DLT and was told that it's still in development.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that aspect.

Thanks, I don't have a pink card or yellow book.

So maybe best I go to the DLT office (Pattaya) and ask about making an appointment.

Download the DTL Smart Queue app and create an account.  It should be apparent from that whether it is in use in your region.

I have downloaded the DLT app, it will only allow registration with a Thai id number.

When I select the Passport number option -- nothing happens.

So how can a non-Thai even use this app ?

I was following an elderly guy the other day on his motorcycle, he was on the far left of the small road riding very slowly, just a few shops on each side of the road.

I heard a car behind me so I moved left, and followed behind him to allow the car to pass.

Without looking, indicating or nothing the old fella swept over to the right to go to a shop.

I braked and moved left to under-cut him, the car which was right along-side me at this point braked and squealed to a stop, missing the guy by inches.

    That guy was so lucky...

An incident that happens hundreds of times a day.

Some riders are not so lucky

Pre-Covid the US Consulate here in Chiang Mai had stated they provided service for some 40,000 Americans in Northern Thailand but, that covered all ... retirees, employed, married to a Thai. So there was no breakdown in the total. I am curious, one would think the Thai government would have the numbers of foreigner long term Visa holders and incoming short term tourists.

You would think they also have record of our address, we have to tell them every 90 days ????
