Pre-Covid the US Consulate here in Chiang Mai had stated they provided service for some 40,000 Americans in Northern Thailand but, that covered all ... retirees, employed, married to a Thai. So there was no breakdown in the total. I am curious, one would think the Thai government would have the numbers of foreigner long term Visa holders and incoming short term tourists.

You would think they also have record of our address, we have to tell them every 90 days ????

    Do people still play golf?

Yes....... but around Pattaya the courses have decided it's now high season and ramped up the costs. Add to that the adverts for Thai-only rates and that is why the 9-hole courses around Sattahip are suddenly busy.

  3. I am due to renew my licence in February, has anyone renewed at the Pattaya office recently ??

I think I need the following documents:-

    1.  Copies of my passport face page and current visa extension stamp

    2. Copies of both sides of my current licence

    3. The current licence

4, A letter from Immigration confirming my address.

Do we still need to make any appointment ? Or can I just show up on the day ?

Also I was told that you can watch the safety video at home, then print off some kind of paperwork to confirm you have done that.

Or do we now have to sit in the room annd watch it ??

    Thanks for any advice.

which android box do you use ? I have a h 96 pro but not sure on the internet spec if 1 gb or not

I had a H96 Pro, it is limited to 100 mbps. It's in the settings in "about"

Best option is the H96 Air PS3 which can take 1000mbps.

Be sure to get the PS3

So how do you check what your device can take, also if buying a new device e.g. a smart tv

In the specifications there should be an item showing internet -- most will show 100 mbps but the good ones have 1000

Not sure about smart tv, I use an android box

rather silly statement to make, considering every single accident ends up with cars being left in the middle of the road, waiting for insurance to arrive

The last 2 vehicles that I have had hit me from behind (while I was stationary) had no insurance.

When we were about to call our insurance and the police, both drivers decided to pay for the (admittedly minor) damage as they didn't want the police checking if they had a licence

Testmy.net says download is 61 MBPS I'm paying for 1000 MBPS

It also depends on your android device, ie the box itself.

Many are only able to take 100 mbps despite your ISP supplying 1000.

Assume you are wired to your router with an ethernet cable -- you should have cat7 cable at the least. Many boxes are supplied with cat5 cables which are good for YouTube etc.

as bad as it sounds, but if he was drunk it is actually a good thing he did the runner because now insurance will pay. If he was caught and was drunk, all insurance is void. At least family will get some payout from insurance as highly unlikely driver has any to pay. this is of course under the assumption he has insurance

The final sentence is the key to all this.

How many drivers have insurance at all (apart from the mandatory govt 100 bt one)
