Hats off to the guy if he was responsible for starting the caddie competitions.

However unless my memory is incorrect he was also the person pushing some years ago to make carts compulsory across all Eastern Region courses which fortunately did not come to pass.

May not be compulsory now, but most courses insist on no sharing. Which effectively doubles the cost of a cart.

Is he behind some of the posters in changing rooms showing "minimum caddy tip" ??

Yes Keith - but you have taken the most expansive round in Phuket and compared it to some of the the cheapest in Chonburi - that is hardly fair. As I said you can play Blue Canyon 1500thb including caddie and cart - and you wont find a better course in Pattaya that offers that - feel free to correct me.

Burapha at 1250 baht all-in is a great deal.

Pattana another good course now 1350 baht all-in.

No. Caddies are not compulsory at Mae Kok in Chiang Rai, or Gymkhana in Chiang Mai. Not compulsory at Haripunchai, Mae Moh, or Happy City either, although I wouldn't want to play Happy City without one.

As you apparently play navy courses, I think I can work out you are not from around here.

All courses around Pattaya have compulsory caddies.

To the extreme that our group played at Plutaluang and there weren't enough caddies, one player had no caddy but was still expected to pay a caddy fee !!

And most courses around Pattaya only allow single use carts, so no sharing

Would be interesting to know the full details surrounding 'trying to pass another car'.

    E.g:

    - Did he really need to get in front of the other car?  Why?

    - Is he a driver who 'must be in front' but for no logical reason?

    - Given there's 20 students on the pick up, should he have been deliberately driving more slow?

    - How fast was he travelling when the dog jumped out?

    - Does a dog present mean he's in a built up area? If so, Why was he driving fast and/or had to pass?

    - Is the pick up 'licensed' to carry 20 students?

    - and more...

Question 2 applies to nearly all Thai drivers

Well Singha have tried that with their Est 33 Craft Beer Brew Pubs.  Supposedly higher end (more expensive) craft beers which are brewed on site in their pubs.  Quite popular with trendy Thais but never going to be mass market given that 90% of the drinking market consists of rural Thais.

They also sell some of their "craft beers" in 7-Eleven now but not that popular - Thailand is not that market.

The craft beers are usually decent tasting - but are taxed so much that they are almost double the price of the mass-produced stuff.

That's why they don't appear to be popular

I had a few roasts in there a good few years back, it was superb, and 129 baht is an absolute steal.

    Agreed.

Sunday it was 99 baht for chicken and 129 baht for pork. Add 40 baht if you think you can finish a large serving.

Great food at superb value - as is all of the food there.
