Things must be different in Pattaya, I'm not aware of any courses in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai where taking a caddie is mandatory. Although having said that, I think caddie and cart are inclusive in the price at Happy City and Waterford Valley. I've seen golfers playing without caddies at Santiburi.
I think you must be confusing me with another poster, I would never suggest not tipping a caddie. There is one course I know in Chiang Mai which takes all the caddie fee for itself, the only income the caddie gets is the tip. I was one myself, so I know there are a few golfers who think all their good golf is their own doing, and any poor shot is the caddie's fault.
All courses around Pattaya have compulsory caddies - and compulsory tips.
Also at 90% compulsory carts all single use.

Pray tell how you are getting 1000 all in for PCC at the moment as the group I play with would certainly be interested?

interesting question, there is a huge difference between the words "order" and "purchase"
when I order beers from Tesco there is no purchase until they are delivered and paid for.
I agree with another poster, change the stupid restrictions and rules
Ownership transfers to the buyer only after payment

So no go if your handicap is over 24 ??

Depends on whether the baht is still pegged to the dollar

Rather depends upon what happens on the streets of Bangkok
Why?? Nothing appears to affect the baht despite all that is going on.

Which courses have raised their prices? Around Pattaya most have pretty much stayed the same in November as per previous months and I am not hearing of increases for December.
Emerald raised by 100 baht, not much but still an increase for high season. Greenwood we're posting on FBI about high season starting, haven't seen any increase yet.

The high Baht (which the Thai Government continues to support by doing little to contain it) is responsible for most of the extra costs for export rice.
I think you'll find that they actively encourage it.
How else to explain it ??

like many other things Thailand is getting to expensive, that is also why companies are relocating.
as well tourist that the moved on to other places before Covid-19.
It has been expensive for 6 years now.
Vietnam made the obvious decision to devalue.
Just a suggestion to those up in the BoT towers

Have any local expats played this course? I don't know any that have. It seems that they only pander to organizations that review golf courses.
Probably due to the costs. Very few expats could afford to play there.

Currently 1050 all-in.
So is November the start of high season ?

and the downfall started with the plan to make it a "family resort" - Covid only gave the death blow
Pattaya was struggling well before Covid.
Mainly caused by the strength of the baht, which remains strong despite everything that has happened here.
Whenever tourists are allowed back, they will baulk at the costs.

That is easier said then done, besides they could be accused by the US of currency manipulation if they do so.
And that's not already happening ??

What is this "Village Head" requirement ??
I live in a soi near Pattaya, there are about 70 houses but nobody is village head.
Or does this only apply if you actually live in an isolated village ?

I hate when people a specific amount of Tip for any type of Service performed. I agree something should be given at a minimum but, For different levels of service there should be different levels of Compensation.
I play a lot of golf in Pattaya and typically will not tip less than 200 Baht for a caddy who is useless and is disinterested, but will tip an outstanding caddy 4 - 500 baht and average 300 - 400 depending on how I played (JUST KIDDING).
The point being is different levels of expertise and service should be rewarded accordingly.
Agreed, people should understand that a tip is at the discretion of the buyer - in this case the golfer.
You have already paid for the service, if you feel that you hadn't paid enough then give a tip as extra.
It doesn't work the other way round ????????

It's been 1350 on sports days since March.
If you want to walk, green fee is 800 baht plus 350 for caddy.
The idea is to get you to pay 200 extra for the cart, which will make your caddy a driver, as you are not allowed to drive the cart.
-
13 hours ago, Parsve said:
I have done it my self, if that is accepted. It is exactly what you are saying. If you are driving a cart or not is not the main reason to if the ball is fast or not.
When carts are restricted to cart paths only, the round can take longer.
You need to walk across to your ball, then wait for your caddy to bring the correct club that you asked for, not the club that they thought you would need.

I play in Isaan and I’ve never seen dual pricing. Where does it occur at golf courses. As for price, it’s much cheaper up here than in the UK. I also find the caddies great fun and often highly entertaining. Would be a lot less fun without them.
You don't see it because it's not openly advertised.
Do you really think the Thai groups are paying the same as you ??
And, unusually, some courses in the Pattaya area actually did advertise the Thai rates (all in Thai) but then denied it when we tried to pay the same rate. The Thai rates were about 50% less
