Football match excuses for the terrorist sympathizers have run out. "Random passersby in Amsterdam were once again approached on the street last night and asked to show their passports. Jews or people who appeared to be Jewish were threatened, says the Amsterdam police chief." https://x.com/EFischberger/status/1855639123534471570 -
Donald Trump Tells Putin Not to Escalate Ukraine War in Post-Election Call President-elect Donald Trump spoke with Russia's President Vladimir Putin in a post-election phone call, reportedly telling him not to escalate the Ukraine war, according to The Washington Post. Trump reportedly reminded Putin about "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe," the Post's Sunday report said. The call was made from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida. The pair reportedly discussed the goal of peace on the European continent, and Trump said he would look for a follow-up conversation to discuss a "resolution of Ukraine's war." https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-tells-putin-not-escalate-ukraine-war-post-election-call-1983556

James Smith, research director at the Resolution Foundation think tank which aims to improve living standards for low-to-middle income families, agreed. "Even if it doesn't show up in pay packets from day one, it will eventually feed through to lower wages," he said. "This is definitely a tax on working people, let's be very clear about that." https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgj72wxw8jxo

Israel Hamas War the Widening Middle East Conflict

Everybody is sick and tired of the terrorist's and what they brought onto the people of Gaza "Professor Dr Salman al-Dayah, a former dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Hamas-affiliated Islamic University of Gaza, is one of the region’s most respected religious authorities, so his legal opinion carries significant weight among Gaza’s two million population, which is predominantly Sunni Muslim." Gaza’s top Islamic scholar issues fatwa criticising 7 October attack Dr Dayah adds: “If the pillars, causes, or conditions of jihad are not met, it must be avoided in order to avoid destroying people’s lives. This is something that is easy to guess for our country’s politicians, so the attack must have been avoided.” For Hamas, the fatwa represents an embarrassing and potentially damaging critique, particularly as the group often justifies its attacks on Israel through religious arguments to garner support from Arab and Muslim communities. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj4vw1l8xvdo -

Amsterdam is a hub for violent anti Israeli protests and violent acts. This incident caused $4 million in damages Anti-Israel protests cost Amsterdam U $4.4m in damage There were also several riots at the university at around that time. One of them produced images that shocked the Jewish world, showing men wearing keffiyehs covering their faces wielding wooden planks and using them to forcefully hit Jewish students who staged a small counterprotest on campus. https://www.jns.org/anti-israel-protests-cost-amsterdam-u-4-4m-in-damage/ -

You're right on those thin margins: Industry sources said the pressure on pricing would be "intense" given the thin margins on which the big supermarkets already operate. https://news.sky.com/story/retail-giants-face-food-price-hikes-dilemma-after-budget-13248254 "The grocery industry is expected to be among the hardest-hit by the changes to employer NICs, particularly after the chancellor slashed the threshold at which businesses become liable for it to just £5,000." Its not only the large stores either: Andrew Goodacre, CEO of the British Independent Retailers Association “This is without doubt the worst Budget for independent retailers I have seen in my time representing the sector. The government’s actions today show complete disregard for the thousands of hard-working shop owners who form the backbone of our high streets. https://www.theretailbulletin.com/general-merchandise/budget-comment-retail-trust-30-10-2024/ “Retail employs three million people and 2.7 million more across supply chains, driving investment in jobs, communities and, ultimately, economic growth, right across the country. For a low margin industry, today’s Budget will hit hard, with the odds now stacked firmly against growth and investment in the short term. These new costs also risk increasing the prices customers pay at the till.

mmmm Zelensky says he was somewhat reassured but lets see. Trump is unpredictable Scoop: Elon Musk joined Trump's call with Zelensky Donald Trump's phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday included two surprises: Elon Musk was also on the line, and Zelensky was somewhat reassured by what he heard from the president-elect, two sources with knowledge of the call tell Axios. Why it matters: The new details of the call underscore how influential Musk could be in the second Trump administration, and the uncertainty over how exactly Trump will approach Ukraine. https://www.axios.com/2024/11/08/musk-trump-zelensky-ukraine-call https://archive.ph/A9MCn

NATO Allies strongly condemn the decisions by the leaders of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to dangerously expand Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine. In addition to the DPRK’s already substantive support to Russia’s war effort, through the provision of millions of rounds of ammunitions and ballistic missiles, the thousands of combat troops deployed by the DPRK constitutes a dangerous expansion of its ongoing support for Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. The deepening military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK deeply impacts Euro-Atlantic security, with implications also for the Indo-Pacific. Increasing military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK is a breach of multiple UN Security Council resolutions, including 2270 (2016), 1718 (2006), and 1874 (2009). This is particularly egregious given Russia’s status as a Permanent Member of the UN Security Council. We call on Russia to return to compliance with these resolutions and to uphold its international obligations. https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/official_texts_230355.htm

Israel Hamas War the Widening Middle East Conflict
Bkk Brian replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
At US behest, Qatar has ordered Hamas to leave Doha — Biden officials Qatar told Hamas that it must close its diplomatic office in Doha roughly ten days ago following a request by the US, senior Biden administration officials tell The Times of Israel. A US official tells The Times of Israel that Hamas’s late August execution of American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin along with five other hostages and its subsequent rejection of more recent ceasefire proposals are what led the administration to change its approach regarding the terror group’s continued presence in Doha, deeming it “no longer viable or acceptable.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/us-reveals-that-qatar-demanded-hamas-leave-doha-at-its-behest/
