  1. There is some international study evidence. A mix-and-match approach to Covid vaccines - using different brands for first and second doses - appears to give good protection against the pandemic virus, a UK study has found. The Com-Cov trial looked at the efficacy of either two doses of Pfizer, two of AstraZeneca, or one of them followed by the other. Although the UK said: "The UK's deputy chief medical officer, Prof Jonathan Van-Tam, said there was no reason to change the current successful same dose vaccine schedules in the UK, however, given vaccines were in good supply and saving lives." https://www.bbc.com/news/health-57636356 There is also another study that says one dose AZ and one dose Pfizer gives better protection from vaccine waning.
  2. I think that will depend on the vaccination rates of the Province. Take Phuket for example, the most vaxxed in Thailand. There is an update on the school sandbox program there although this only covers pre-school to year 4 (8-9 years old). Those above will remain online, why, I don't know? Here's the latest rules shared by an International school via email: For any children coming to school during the Sandbox (Preschool to Year 4) the following conditions would apply: All adults within the household of the child would need to be fully vaccinated. All staff involved in the Sandbox are fully vaccinated Children would need to take an Antigen Test Kit (ATK) Covid test prior to coming into school and then weekly during the Sandbox scheme. ATK tests are less invasive than a PCR test, do not require nasal swabs and only require a small sample of the childs saliva. All staff within the Sandbox will have an ATK test prior the commencement of the scheme. The school would provide the first of the ATK tests to children joining the Sandbox free of charge and it will be possible to collect these from the school via a drive through service towards the end of next week. The test must be carried out 24 hours prior to the child joining classes each Monday and a Google Form will be shared with parents who have chosen to be part of the Sandbox. This will include a declaration to state that the child has completed an ATK test, that adult family members are vaccinated and that the result of the ATK test was negative. The ATK test must be performed weekly and the Google Form submitted every Sunday before 5pm. Classes will remain in a class bubble and will only interact with children within that bubble. In the event of a positive result from the ATK test, the attached flow chart will need to be followed to determine the outcome for the child who has tested positive and other members of the class bubble. The MoPH would liaise with the school and determine which children within the bubble are considered Low-Risk Contacts (LRCs - these would self-isolate at home), and which are High-Risk Contacts (HRCs) For HRCs, if these contacts have suitable accommodation for isolation, the MoPH may determine that the HRC can isolate at home provided that separate rooms are available for the isolation and that the HRC does not leave the premises. This is condition 3 on the attached flow-chart. If it is not possible for the HRC to have a suitable home-quarantine, conditions 1 or 2 would apply on the attached flow-chart. In the event that a positive case was found in a class, the class would close for 14 days. Parents can opt-out of the Sandbox programme at any time. Whilst children would be required to test on a weekly basis, and may need to isolate in the event of a positive case within their bubble, I do feel that these conditions are suitable to begin the process of re-opening under the Sandbox conditions. Sending a child to school will remain a parental decision and for those that wish to keep their child at home, we will continue to provide online learning.
  3. +4 on ventilators and a new upsurge to 20,418 including positive rapid tests. Lets see how this goes.
  4. Its a question asked by many especially when there are high positivity rates. Rapid tests have now taken over as the preferred method for active finding and we all know they are not recorded unless the person is admitted into hospital for treatment.
  5. PCR test positive cases, total of 15,452 official new infections, with 468 of those from prison and 14,984 from the community. 224 official covid deaths recorded, down from yesterday's figure. Rapid tests positive cases, 4,966 bringing the unofficial total to 20,418 pushing through the 20k mark once again! https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ 44,562 official pcr tests carried out yesterday. Rolling 7 day average (up to 3rd Sept) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  6. Like I said its from yesterdays article https://www.thaipbsworld.com/181-people-over-60-among-covid-19-deaths-in-thailand-on-saturday/ which is not the current one. The figures posted here by members are the correct ones
  7. The good news being that Sinovac will no longer be needed as there seems to be plenty of the other brands available from Oct. For children I note that the UK scientists are currently advising against administering covid vaccinations for children 12 - 15 years due to the minimal risk to benefit ratio although thats with Pifzer.
  8. +4 on ventilators and a new upsurge to 20,418 including positive rapid tests. Lets see how this goes.
  9. Its an old article from yesterdays news, the numbers are also wrong
  10. PCR test positive cases, total of 15,452 official new infections, with 468 of those from prison and 14,984 from the community. 224 official covid deaths recorded, down from yesterday's figure. 11. That study actually seems to fit in very well with Phuket Sandbox arrivals. Over 27,000 arrived with 0.2 - 0.3% subsequently testing positive.
  12. I see what you mean when somebody has facts behind them, not so easy to argue against it, I agree entirely. Stay safe yourself..............
  13. Sorry have no clue what you're on about, I read the studies and form opinion, would you like a discussion on that?
  14. Just as you provide your opinions, they also provide theirs? Also known as a discussion forum I think.
  15. Focusing on hospital admissions is absolutely the way to go if you have a decent vaccine coverage with decent vaccines, covid case numbers are still very important as they give a guide of how many people are in the community possibly spreading it, where they are, the clusters etc, critical for effective measures if needed. Israel is no longer the most vaccinated country in the world by far, lagging well behind now, its hospitalization numbers are also showing a nice decrease. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations
  16. Sinovac is so good that China ordered 100 million doses of Pifzer, then partnered with Germany's BioNTech to make their own copy Pifzer for booster shots to people who had received inactivated-virus vaccines, ie Sinovac and Sinopharm
  17. Phuket marks 242 new COVID cases PHUKET: The latest Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) daily COVID situation report has marked 242 new local infections confirmed across the island yesterday (Sept 3) bringing the total number of people recognised as infected with COVID-19 in Phuket since Apr 3 to 5,131. The report recorded 25 new cases of people suspected of being infected with COVID-19 after testing positive by antigen test kits (ATKs). https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-marks-242-new-covid-cases-81283.php
  18. Update on chart Rapid tests positive cases, 2,407 bringing the unofficial total to 18,072 an increase from yesterday's numbers. A steady increase since the 31st Aug https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ 44,652 official pcr tests carried out yesterday. Lowest for weeks.
  19. India has donated 300 oxygen concentrators to the Government of Thailand to help in its fight against the ongoing COVID19 pandemic https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1751779 #Thailand https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1433969328014114824
  20. PCR tested positive, total of 15,942 official new infections, with 277 of those from prison and 15,665 found in the community, a 1k+ increase from yesterday, the highest number since the 30th Aug. 257 covid deaths. Rapid tests no updates yet https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Daily PCR tests: No updates yet Rolling 7 day average (up to 2nd Sept) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  21. My only point on that is to note that the testing data also includes the sandbox tourists arriving each day and subsequent tests, other than that we are in agreement.
  22. Yea I've not researched it much but obviously a benefit. However there is also another study that says 2 shots AZ after a period of a few months then actualy retains a higher antibody level than 2 shots of Pfizer. No link for that as I'm on my phone. Angela Merkel went for AZ then Moderna, even better perhaps? To be honest its all a step up from Sinovac used as a dose so thats a bonus.
  23. Sure. The jabs have to come first and hospitals out of full capcity then living with it has already been widely shared with most western govs and the populations.
