  1. Visitors will still need to show proof of Covid insurance for the Thailand Pass system, pegged to replace the certificate of entry (COE). The new web-based system will reduce the time it takes to get permission to enter from 3-6 to 1-3 days, the CCSA said on Friday. https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1448915598705000455
  2. More Moderna, Pfizer vaccines to be procured by Thammasat University, private hospitals Thammasat University has entered into agreements with two private hospitals to procure seven million doses of Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines, to be distributed to a network of private hospitals. The university has also contacted a vaccine institute in an eastern European country, with the help of the Thai embassy there, to seek the donation of 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine. On the Facebook page of Thammasat field hospital on Thursday, the university said that, in the past eight weeks, with the approval of the university’s council, they have been working hard to procure vaccines and other medical supplies for the Thai people and patients at Thammasat field hospital. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/more-moderna-pfizer-vaccines-to-be-procured-by-thammasat-university-private-hospitals/
  3. sssh they've not thought of that yet and the consequences of a super spreader event that could lead to a new wave.
  4. Target market................international kids/teens from asia who are also not vaccinated so don't even qualify to enter Thailand without quarantine. Total waste of money that could be put to better use in helping small businesses get ready for the opening.
  5. CCSA in its daily briefing just said there will be no quarantine and the list of countries is decided but will be revealed next week. Hopefully they've not listened to this idiot. "CCSA finalizing List of origin countries entering and not requiring quarantine. Now it's in the required internal process, and should be released sometime mid-week next week. There will be alot more than 10 countries included in the list."
  6. CCSA: The list of low risk countries is already known and will be publicly released around Wednesday next week. The number of countries will be greater than ten. People coming from these countries won’t need to do quarantine from 1st November https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1448894948548366336
  7. My sentiments too, additionally it fails to mention the time period over which they were taken only states as of 14th Oct.
  8. Actually Sidney is doing as it should be done. "from November 1, fully vaccinated travellers to the state will have to test negative before getting on the plane, but would not have to quarantine at all on arrival." Unlike Thailand who are now saying they want a one day quarantine on arrival while waiting for the test result.
  9. The Department of Medical Sciences has been observing #COVID19 variants in #Thailand by running random genetic tests on viruses from around the country. It input the data in the GISAID and has just revealed the results. https://twitter.com/prdthailand/status/1448846092045488129
  10. Moderna Vaccines Will Arrive in November, Firm Says BANGKOK — The longest pre-order of your life may soon be over: Moderna’s mRNA vaccine will start arriving in Thailand by November following months of delay, a distributor representative said. Zuellig Pharma, the company responsible for distribution of the Moderna vaccine, said the doses will arrive in weekly shipments, starting in November. The firm did not give any precise date. Despite previous pledges, the Moderna vaccines failed to be delivered to Thailand this month, a cause of frustration for many Thais who already pre-ordered the vaccines from private hospitals and clinics. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/2021/10/15/moderna-vaccines-will-arrive-in-november-firm-says/
  11. The 400,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine that the Thai government recently bought from Hungary is now on its way to #Thailand. https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1448823462148071425
  12. I was referring to Prayuts speech where he never mentioned this https://www.thainewsreports.com/2021/10/11/national-address-of-the-prime-minister-of-thailand-on-monday-11-october-2021/
  13. An obvious glitch on the 7 day average chart from ourworldindata showing a dip to 8,875 in its last data point capture on the 13th Oct. They update later today. PCR test positive cases, total of 10,486 official new infections, with 167 of those from prison and 10,319 from the community. 94 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 3,577 bringing the unofficial total to 14,063 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Rolling 7 day average (up to 13th Oct) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  14. Maybe he should tell his buddies at Thai Airways to delete their facebook post promoting quarantine free travel and asking people to book flights now based on that promise. Pretty sure thats fake news and false advertising. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10161322688662293&id=304177952292&m_entstream_source=timeline
  15. Since when has this jerk been part of the CCSA? He needs to go back in his box now. Complete disunity in the government here again. Last time he spoke he talked about increasing revenue from each tourist from 49k each to 82k to make up for lost revenue. He was also the one who wanted the "sexy" slogan for advertising and do away with mass tourism.
  16. More confusion: "The TAT boss also revealed that he was surprised when the Prime Minister announced that the 7-day quarantine rule had been scrapped and emphasised that strong controls must be maintained over the activities of visiting tourists to protect the population from the virus threat."
  17. According to this article there are 38 countries possibly on the list: "According to Daily News, there are 38 countries being considered for the reopening plan: (1) 24 EU countries (2) 5 Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden) (3) Israel, Switzerland, UAE, UK, US, India, Japan, South Korea and Qatar" https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1448637393242705924 https://www.dailynews.co.th/news/374859/
  18. One 3 month old baby was the victim of covid yesterday, no underlying disease. 60 males, 52 females, Thai(107), Myanmar(4), Cambodia(1) • Median age 67 years (0.3 – 93 years) • Median (known infection-death) 13 days (up to 45 days) 27 had chronic disease (24%) https://media.thaigov.go.th/uploads/public_img/source/141064.pdf
  19. No she just could have ordered more vaccines to begin with, that would have been enough. That's what she told me anyway.
  20. The latest graph update shows cases in Greater Bangkok still going down (blue line) while other provinces (green) and southern provinces (orange) are going up https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1448585027814494209
  21. The PM said, yes, then the government said no quarantine on their official facebook page, then international media followed those messages, then Thai Airways followed up and told people to book now for no quarantine travel to Thailand. Foot in mouth indeed.
  22. WHO Thailand weekly situation update report. Key COVID-19 indicators including new cases, total active cases, severe cases, ventilated cases and deaths in Thailand are decreasing and have reduced substantially from the peak in August. However their rates of decrease have slowed, with low single digit decreases for all except deaths: although changes in deaths tend to lag behind these other counts (deaths decreased by 12% this week, but the previous week the decrease was 18%, a slowing down by a third). These indicators remain high and many times greater than the previous peak in the 3rd wave from April to June. This includes the number of active cases, including those that require direct medical care, that remain high (over 109,000 cases per day on average last week) with the rate of decrease slowing down to 1.5% over the previous week. It’s is unlikely that COVID-19 will be completely eradicated, even with high levels of population vaccination. As vaccination coverage improves and with case counts falling globally, countries are increasingly looking at ways to ‘live with COVID19’. However, the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and there still remains a long way still to go. In many countries including Thailand there are areas and populations with low vaccination coverage. While the pandemic continues with high case counts and deaths being reported, public health authorities will continue to prioritise vaccination to those most at risk as well as encouraging the adoption of public health and social measures that are known to be effective at limiting person-to-person transmission. https://www.who.int/thailand/emergencies/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports
  23. Pattaya is after her too but they are more sensible and making it budget dependent. “However, it depends on the budget and the negotiation with Lisa’s team and agency. We are still waiting for final confirmation and working with Lisa’s agency and the TAT,
  24. More confirmation this is only a partial re-opening, hope nobody bought their tickets yesterday after Thai Airways announcement without waiting for the real details to emerge. The CCSA are planning to re-open only 15 provinces between 1-30 November as a test and not the whole country. Decision expected to be announced soon https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1448555855587078155
  25. What they are missing aside from having vaccination levels up to the required status are the other raft of measures that should be in place, as the Thai Chamber of Commerce said but that would cost them money rather than rely solely on tourists: "Chief Sanan Angubonkul said that he expected 100,000 tourists per month to come to Thailand. But he admitted this number would have a minimal impact on GDP, reported Manager." "We expect 100,000 extra tourists a month," he said, "though this will mean GDP improvements in the 0-1% range". "He said that other measures proposed by his organisation would have more benefits to the economy such as opening more businesses and expanding stimulus and benefit measures."
