  1. Its not very clear I agree but in this instance they are referring to the daily positive case count of all PCR tests. The southern border provinces now make up a total of 22% of daily cases as opposed to Bangkok and its 5 bordering Provinces which make up 19%.. The rest is made up of all other Provinces
  2. Agreed, with the addition of 2 new Field Hospitals in Khon Kaen the authorities there are making plans for that. The southern border Provinces are certainly in an uptrend and have been since the start of Sept. Overtaken Bangkok and its 5 vicinity Provinces in case numbers as of yesterday. EDIT, forgot to add that Anutin is going down to the southern Provinces this week to "address the measures there"
  3. Still waiting for news on the elusive extra 1 million free donation of Pfizer from the US that was being held up over paperwork? Why’s it not here already saving lives.
  4. Prominent doctors and politicians share contradictory ideas on Prime Minister’s country reopening announcement yesterday “Other countries open when they’re ready. Their screening and monitoring systems are ready and effective, there is a lot of potential for testing, most of the population has been fully vaccinated, and the pandemic situation is not severe and well-controlled. But some countries are still affected by the reopening.” “The question to think about is what will happen to a country that would reopen while the screening is still limited, a small percentage of people have received the full dose of the vaccination, and the recent daily infections are still reaching ten thousand per day.” Thira concluded. https://thepattayanews.com/2021/10/12/prominent-doctors-and-politicians-share-contradictory-ideas-on-prime-ministers-country-reopening-announcement-yesterday/
  5. Sure but they've been paddling already for over 3 months with the Phuket Sandbox. Its taking a long time to learn to swim
  6. Accepted the tongue in cheek but this is a true life senario personally and time is short
  7. Khon Kaen reopens field hospitals in response to rising Covid cases The Khon Kaen Communicable Disease Committee decided on Monday to reopen two field hospitals to accommodate the rising number of new Covid-19 cases. “The Phutthamonthol Field Hospital and the Agricultural and Cooperative Training Centre Field Hospital will soon be ready to treat new patients,” said Khon Kaen governor Somsak Jangkrakul, who chairs the committee. “The field hospitals will be staffed by medics from Sirinthorn and Ban Phai hospitals respectively.” https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40007417
  8. Yep, the out of touch billionaire who was quoted a couple of months ago as saying Thailand was to turn away from mass tourism....5555
  9. That's what happens when you make an early announcement without the details, its called normal interest in what the outcome may actually be so they can commence planning, its only 2 weeks away! I'm sure those arriving in Nov through the sandbox or ASQ are biting at the bit to know so they can cancel they're already booked hotels. Others who have to book their xmas holidays at work will also be waiting. You never know perhaps even businesses here are eager to know so they can get staffed up again for this massive influx or trikkle of tourists?
  10. Thailand must be ready for influx of tourists from Nov 1, says minister Foreigners will flock to Thailand now that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has announced that the country will be reopening on November 1, the Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said on Tuesday. Pointing out that Thailand is a popular winter destination for travellers from the West, he said the Public Health Ministry should have a strict screening system ready in time. However, he said, the arrival of foreign tourists will help kickstart the revival of Thailand’s tourism industry by yearend and in the first quarter of next year. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40007414
  11. What if the grand parents happen to live in Thailand and the whole reason for the trip was to come and see them?
  12. An 8% CFR suggests that Mexico was one of the worst countries in the world dealing with this virus for the deaths in its population. The past for the buried is not to be forgotten.
  13. Thailand's Nov 1st Reopening. Devil will be in Details COE? Insurance? SHA+? Prayut laid out a vision but bureaucrats may add conditions, how many will determine success. If the answer to those 3 queries is yes then not much will have changed from the from what people anticipated with the 5 sandbox's previously planned. Other than not being confined to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin or Pattaya if Thailand's reopening remains, book a flight, prepay an SHA+ hotel stay, prepay an in-country corona virus test, pay for a hefty insurance policyand send the entire stack of paperwork to a consulate and wait for a COE before boarding a plane, those new year holiday travellers will not be enticed and simply go elsewhere. https://bangkokherald.com/business/tourism/thailands-nov-1-reopening-devil-will-be-in-details/
  14. One of the more interesting measures I'm keen to know about are families that may want to come. Children under 12 in the UK are not vaccinated, those under 16 only have one shot of Pfizer. So whats the state of play there? Do they have to quarantine as officially they are not fully vaccinated. If so then a 2 week family holiday is out of the question.
  15. Amazing decline in numbers today after last nights official announcement.
  16. Not yet but more countries to be added, I've seen an unofficial list and Australia is there
  17. PCR test positive cases, total of 9,445 official new infections, with 201 of those from prison and 9,244 from the community. 84 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 1,368 bringing the unofficial total to 10,813 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ Rolling 7 day average (up to 10th Oct) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  18. "Last night, the prime minister addressed the nation saying he will “consider” opening the country to vaccinated tourists from low-risk countries from 1st November, and re-open bars and pubs from 1st December." 19. Exactly far more details still needed, I've got a daughter that wants to come over and bring her children to see me and also my mother but clarification on this and all other aspects are urgently needed for them to be here for xmas. At this time all we've got is that he is asking the CCSA and Health Ministry to consider this.
  20. Full English version of the address includes this snippet which sounds promising and does not indicate the need for a sandbox arrangement. "All that visitors will need do is to show that they are COVID-free at their time of travel with an RT-PCR test undertaken before they leave their home country, and do a test in Thailand, after which they will be free to move around Thailand in the same way that any Thai citizen can do." https://www.thainewsreports.com/2021/10/11/national-address-of-the-prime-minister-of-thailand-on-monday-11-october-2021/
  21. Exactly, details are needed now, COE, insurance, what happens if you test positive while here in Thailand, is an SHA booking required and do you need to stay in the same zone first etc etc. Lots yet to reveal.
  22. I heard he may say sorry for the last 7 years...?..555 This just got tweeted however: The PM will address the nation at 8:30pm. He is expected to officially announce the delay in reopening the country to fully vaccinated tourists without having to do quarantine. This was supposed to happen on Friday 15th October. It’s not known if he will announce a new date. https://twitter.com/ThaiNewsReports/status/1447539465354833930
  23. Further lifting of COVID-19 restrictions to be decided on Thursday Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration’s (CCSA) will decide on Thursday (October 14th) whether to ease the semi-lockdown restrictions further after the first set of easing has seen decreased infections and mortality rates, although infections are increasing in a limited number of areas. Apart from the current measures being reconsidered, the CCSA will also decide on finalised details of the reopening of some provinces on November 1st. Numbers aren’t the only factor, however, and if the is a rapid increase in infections, easing of lockdown measures will have to be reconsidered. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/further-lifting-of-covid-19-restrictions-to-be-decided-on-thursday/
  24. PM to say something ‘important’ tonight The prime minister’s office says he will deliver an “important” address to the nation at 8:30pm, and social media is speculating it could address his poorly aged promise to reopen the country by Friday. Although the topic of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha’s televised address is being kept under wraps, the comments class believe he might address his June vow to fully reopen the nation by mid-October, aka Friday. Others believe he will announce something in response to complaints his administration is passing the buck on relief programs back to the public. Other members of the Twitterati are just fantasizing that he will step down. https://coconuts.co/bangkok/news/pm-to-say-something-important-tonight/
  25. Its a pity Thailand does not do a reciprocal gesture. From 11 October 2021, people who travel to Great Britain from Thailand and have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with doses from AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson, will be able to visit the UK without quarantine. https://twitter.com/prdthailand/status/1447466690363592708 The we have Thailand's requirements............................. Latest on Thailand's Entry Regulation (For Alternative Quarantine Travellers) From 1 October 2021, quarantine period is reduced from 14 days to 7 or 10 days for all air travellers. This applies to all travellers, regardless of their port of origin. https://twitter.com/prdthailand/status/1447456939374366720
