Really, get over this idea humans can stop biological and physical disasters. You all have watched movies like Armegeddon too often. If an asteroid is coming for us, we are goners. Our governments cannot stop or slow down viral plagues any more than they can curtain earthquakes or tsunamis.
I never said the world can stop earthquakes or asteroids how you can link natural disasters to a viral pandemic is beyond me.
My best advice to you, look at history, it can inform your opinions, it can provide evidence and give you a better understanding of what can and can't be done.
HIV: new infections decreasing and have been since 2001. HIV deaths at nearly 3 million a year in the 90s now down to well below a million a year. Why? prevention and treatments.
SARS 2002: quickly contained, thanks to personal hygiene and isolation precautions learned from other outbreaks of coronavirus.
Ebola: Now has better treatments, containment measures and vaccine. Currently no ongoing outbreaks, a recent one just eradicated.
H1N1: The list is long try a little research, calm down and you will discover the world is not going to end, we will survive, better treatments for COVID are already underway, vaccines are likely.

No doubt the nail on the head for withdrawal was the recently published report by the HOUSE FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, a good read
"It is clear Director-General Tedros seriously erred in his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coupled with a concerning history of covering up outbreaks of cholera in his home country of Ethiopia and repeated delays in declaring a PHEIC in response to the Kivu Ebola epidemic, we believe there is an established pattern of poor decision making and political deference that has weakened the ability of the WHO to fulfill its mandate. We do not expect, nor require, the head of the WHO to be perfect. However, Director-General Tedros has repeatedly defended his decisions, responded to Taiwan’s criticism by accusing their government of supporting racists, 194 and praised the CCP’s deplorable actions in response to the outbreak.
Director-General Tedros should accept responsibility for his detrimental impact on the COVID-19 response and resign. The health of the world cannot afford incompetence and poor management."
Strong words indeed................

Ask the Thai Embassy in London? They are processing Thai returnees and I imagine that they do the tests locally, in London.
Thai returnees don't need covid tests before returning back to Thailand, that happens once they enter quarantine over here.

Back on topic, in response to a question from the BBC's Stephen McDonald today about the offer of British citizenship to 3 million BNO holders in Hong Kong, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian said:
"before making a decision perhaps the British Government should first solicit the opinions of the British public about this?"
Is that irony at its finest or what........
Actually a poll was carried out in the UK 2 weeks ago. 64% approve, 22% disapprove, 14% don't know

Difficult to avoid buying " made in China " goods . Even many UK companies have their articles made there . The UK Should be banning imports from China and hope other countries join in .
At the same time China should be paying for the global covid 19 bill
China owes the world trillions and trillions of Dollars in compensation instead of handing out a few donations of facemasks

You can keep saying that, doesn't make it into any coherent or efficient construct/effort. I'm not against any such initiatives, I'm just saying that so far it's mostly futile gestures or isolated incidents of resistance. Also I don't think the PRC is very much "communist" these days, authoritarian yes.
All new beginnings start off small but thats how things can change.

Just now, Morch said:Yeah, 27 out of how many? And what actual power does the motion carry or represents? That gap between what we wish for and what is.
Its unity and helps, the alternative is to bow down to communism and accept what China is doing is ok, thats not an option that democratic countries or people should even consider should they?

What it details are separate instances of the PRC acting badly and this or that country reacting (to various degrees). There is little by way of international unity or organization to these responses. More like wishful thinking.
Not surprising given the author.
China must reconsider Hong Kong security law, 27 countries tell United Nations, signatories included Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland and 15 European Union states including the Netherlands and Sweden.

The world is finally uniting against China’s bully tactics https://nypost.com/2020/07/04/the-world-is-finally-uniting-against-chinas-bully-tactics/
Chinese President Xi Jinping has apparently decided that now is the time to assert dominance over an economically prostrate post-pandemic world. But instead of just rolling over, a growing number of nations are fighting back.

Of course in your xenophobic mind it there was no possibility of infected Italians returning from China, as was the case in Iran.
It was someone that had been to HK that infected a party in BKK, and it was someone who had been to Singapore that brought the first cases to France and the UK, but the narrow minded only have eyes for the Chinese.
The first confirmation of spread to Italy occurred on 31 January 2020 when two Chinese tourists in Rome tested positive for the virus

Your words or not?
"Here's your claim:
"And the UK has lied consistently on testing, got caught doing it over and over again and then stopped releasing test data. They only talk about testing capacity, big deal, they can say have 20 million a day capacity, but if they’re only testing 50k it’s pointless"
With no facts to back it up, as I said nonsense on all points and complete lies:"
My claim of no facts to back it up a nonsense statement still hold but if you'd like it in black and white. The UK has not consistently lied on testing, it has not been got caught over and over again, it has not stopped releasing test data and they test far more than 50k per day.
Did they meet their targets, no but thats another matter.

Where do you get the 1% mortality rate from? It might be that number in the end given the number of unknown asymptomatic cases but its not the actual known rate right now. Funky numbers indeed.
Yesterday 11,739,167 known worldwide cases. 540,666 Deaths attributed to CV-19. That's roughly a 4.6% mortality rate currently and if you run the number on the amount of recovered cases vs deaths its around an 8% mortality rate.
If you're getting your mortality percentage figures from sites like worldometers then you're looking at the wrong place for accurate mortality rates. Its generally accepted that current models and studies give a death rate of 1% or less, although thats still high enough.

Of course it has, you tried to make out that the UK had not mislead the public.
I was responding to a post that claimed among other things that the UK had stopped publishing its testing figures, that is clearly not the case https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ and https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/

Why no English report? Hmmmm. Have many report same this since March month. But no report on TVF.
There's plenty of English language press here, why not take it up with them, send them your vids.
You may find that just because Thailand admits all its covid cases, its just not possible in other countries where there are large outbreaks, considering that at least 80% of cases are mild and recover at home with no major problems, why take up valuable resources in a hospital just so you can be pampered back to health?

But now?
China says "Meh".
EU has already in a lengthy Joint Motion:
Strongly condemns the constant and increasing interference by China in Hong Kong’s internal affairs, as well the recent assertion by China that the Sino-British Joint Declaration of 1984 is a historic document, and hence no longer valid.
Calls on the EU and its Member States to consider, in the event the new security law is applied, filing a case before the International Court of Justice alleging that China’s decision to impose national security legislation on Hong Kong violates the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the ICCPR;
Supports the VP/HR’s assessment that a new and more robust strategy to deal with a more assertive China is necessary,

I’m laughing at your pathetic attempts at justification for your nonsensical deflection by telling me what I said over and over. The truth is out there, you just don’t want to believe it because it shows up your silliness. I think it’s time you moved on, don’t you? Nah, you’ll definitely want to have the last word. Go for it, it’s all yours.

Where's your proof to back up this nonsense? Oh laughing does not really cut it as a response.

When is a lie not a lie, when the liar interprets "carrying out" as "providing capacity".
You would need to show me where on your link it confirms that 100K were carried out in one day by the 1st May.
At the beginning of April, Matt Hancock pledged that the UK would be carrying out 100,000 tests for coronavirus by the end of the April.
But questions have been raised over how the tests have been counted, with the figure including tens of thousands of home kits which have been delivered, but haven’t yet been returned. The overall total also includes tests dispatched to ‘satellite testing locations’ – such as hospitals that have a particularly urgent need – but does not detail whether the tests have actually been used.
Nothing at all to do with the post I was responding to and the current situation with testing now.
