  1. Take a trip some 10kms south of HH to Sea pine beach which is some 7kms long. The golf clubhouse is a lovely place to go for a drink/lunch and look out over the 18th hole and the beach- always a nice breeze here. Anybody can go into the clubhouse, you do not have to be a member. The turnoff for the golf club is at the petrol station after you've passed the complex on the rhs of the road that displays the large statues of the previous Kings which is worth a visit. If you play golf then you must try the Sea Pine course which is run by the Military, it's challenging but lovely to walk as it's mostly flat.

I hope that you enjoy your trip and if you need anymore info just  PM me for more info re good restaurants etc.

So under 50's don't get sick of fall of motorbikes. Leave the long stayers alone who generally don't run away leaving unpaid medical bills and stop letting in tourists with no valid travel insurance they are the ones cost the hospitals. Also cap the charges set by private hospitals.

Totally agree with the Thai Government investigating the charges made by private hospitals here in Thailand.

I have used the local Military Hospital her in Hua-Hin for two monthly blood tests after suffering blood clots in both lungs whilst in the UK before returning to HH. The cost of this test is minimal and I pay about 250 B in total to have the blood tested and see the Doctor for the results which takes about 2+ hours normally.

A few years ago I had a brain hemorrhage and my doctor at the Military Hospital said it would be advisable to have the operation at a private hospital here in HH, but it could be done at either the Military or the HH General and he said that he would contact friends in the private hospitals to inquire what they would charge for the operation etc. The result was the lowest quote of 1 million for the operation and another 1 million for the aftercare. I was over 70 years old when this happened and had cancelled my private health insurance when I was 69 because of the exponential annual increases in the premiums. To cut a long story short I had my brain operation at the HH General Hospital (on the same day that I was transferred there) and spent one week recovering before returning home to convalesce and the TOTAL bill for both hospitals was 44,500 Baht. I have nothing but admiration for the Thai National Heal Service and the treatments I have received from them and hopefully can continue to receive when needed.

I would be very willing to lock up say 500,000 B in a nominated 'Health Fund Bank Account' to cover any medical costs I might incur and keep this topped up to that amount to prove that I can and will pay any medical costs that I might incur.

I would like to know how many people like myself, who have used the Thai National Health Service have walked out of the hospital WITHOUT paying for their treatment; I would suspect that it would be very few? Why not insist, that ALL people using the Thai National Health Services have to deposit their passports at the hospital until discharged after paying for their treatment - problem solved!

Very good list, but you missed 'DRAFT DODGER'.

Every Imm office i have ever used - a total of 4 different ones over the years - has physically examined the original bank book as well as asking for a copy.

I can say that my bank passbook was very closely examined when I recently went to renew my retirement visa at the Hua-Hin Immigration office, not just a cursory glance.

I noticed, that there were some new rules for people who have had 'Retirement Visa's' issued for over 10 years consecutively and my understanding is that if you meet this criteria then you only need to have 200,000 in your bank seasoned for 2 months prior to your application, but you have to be over 60 years old. Has anybody else interpreted this new ruling as I have? One other criteria is that your first retirement visa must have been obtained prior to October 1998.

The Hua-Hin Immigration office is moving well out of town (today I think), but I for one cannot see the sense in locating the Immigration so far out of the centre of HH.

She does not need politics anymore. She and her corrupt cronies fleeced the country.

The fleeced many small rice farmers dry. Those small land holdings are now owned by large land owners

who bought up their farms after the rice scheme collapsed. Small land holders had borrowed from banks and money racketeers

based on Yinlucks promises. She is a toad of a woman and I hope she is never allowed back into the country.

Because that is what this headline is all about. Waiting out the statute of limitations like Mr Red Bullshite

Just one of the big policy changes that should be made is the elimination of the 'Statute of limitations' here in Thailand. NOT a difficult thing to do, but it would wonderful to see people like Mr Red Bullshite never able to come back. This should be applied automatically to people who NEVER turn up at court to answer charges against them and all their assets should be frozen as well.

  6. I would suggest that you take a look at the Hua-Hin area. It has probably the best climate in Thailand with very clean air all year round, unlike the south the most humid/hot time of the year is March/April. There are plenty of restaurants of all kinds. Transport from HH to Bangkok by luxury coach costs about 350 Baht. Very nice 7km beach south of HH. Lots of properties of all kinds and costings from condo's to villa's. Very good Thai medical services to keep health costs down. Food markets and food stores are numerous. Very good reliable high speed internet services.

If you want any further information just PM me.

  7. I live in a gated juristic body community and am a member of the Residents Committee. We have one resident who has refused to pay their community charges now for some 4 years. The property does not have its own post box or display its postal address outside the property so that we cannot deliver registered letters to the owner. Here are my questions:-

    1. Is it illegal to NOT display your postal address on your property and NOT have a post box? The reason for not having these is blatantly obvious.

    2. Are we allowed by law to refuse the owners the right to bring in their vehicles, as they are not contributing to the upkeep of the roads and security services?

    3. Can we approach the electricity and water services to have the services cut off, as they use our infrastructure to reach the property?

    4. What else can we do that is lawful to force the owner to pay their community fees?

I would be most obliged if you would answer the above questions and give me any other information that you might feel will be helpful in resolving this problem.

  8. I have lived live in a gated community of some 40+ villas some 10kms south of Hua-Hin for nearly 11 years. The villas are of very good construction, all with private pools and gardens with a good mix of residents. The area is some 5 minutes from a 7km sandy beach with lots of good restaurants nearby. A Military hospital is some 10 minutes away and  provides excellent service to foreigners at very low prices. There are rental properties within our complex, all 3 bedroom, 3 or more bathrooms, decent size kitchens. Internet connection is very good and reliable with 100 Mb down and 30 Mb up for 750 B per month. If you would like to know more then please just pm me.

I hope that this has been some help to you and look forward to meeting you sometime if you would like to pop over for a drink and a chat you would be most welcome.

  9. I live in Hua Hin and I would like to arrange to leave my body to medical science when I pass away. I have found that I could leave my body to a Bangkok teaching hospital, but they will only collect the body if you live within 100kms of Bangkok. Is it possible to donate my body to a hospital here in HH and how do you go about arranging this?

  10. I would suggest that you try Hua-Hin. We have some of the best air quality in Thailand here, particularly if you stay on the southern side of HH.

We have no industries in the area and the range of accommodation and restaurants is vast. You can catch a coach from Bangkok to HH for about 260 Baht that takes about 3.5 hours from the major coach station near the Chatuchak area, comfortable and reliable, but I would advise you to book it as it only seats about 25 people. Don't take the coach from the airport as this drops you about 3 miles north of HH whereas the other one will bring you into the centre. If you need more info just pm me.

  11. I am trying to get 'LINE' to load on my computer, which runs on Windows 10. I can enter my email address and my telephone number and I have received an SMS with a 4 digit code to enter, but the box that says 'Next' does not change to allow me to enter the number. Please can anybody help with the next step?

  12. You say that you like walking on the beach and you won't find a nicer beach to walk along that the one at Khao Takiab (starts aprox 4 kms south of HH); it's about 7 kms long and backed by sea pines all the way. We also  have very good local hospitals for which you only pay local Thai prices for treatment. One is a Military hospital and the other is the Hua-Hin General hospital, so no need to pay the exorbitant prices that the farang places charge, I know because I've used them and had excellent service from them. I'm like you and nearly 74 years old and have been here in HH for 10+ years. If you are into sport then we have some excellent golf courses around us. HH has a 'Music  Society' which I have been  intending to join for some time, but just haven't got around to it. Plenty of very reasonably priced restaurants of all varieties, plus some very upmarket places. Local transport as previously mentioned is available at very low prices along all the main roads, so you don't have to have a vehicle to get around. Good local shops selling all kinds of vegetables/drinks  etc plus two very large shopping malls. We also have  a local sea food pier where you can buy freshly caught fish etc. A new ferry service has recently opened up between the northern end of the Khao Takiab beach that goes to Pattaya once a day. High quality coach services go to Swampy airport for 350B and to Jatajak marker for 140B, so if you fancy a trip to Bangkok it doesn't cost much. We have excellent air quality all the year round and probably have one of the best climates in Thailand overall. I have attached a photo of the local beach mentioned above. If you require any further information just send me a personal email to me.
