The author of the original post is just being argumentative and contentious and really this is a trolling post and should be taken down. The original post contends that there will be changes vis-a-vis mandatory insurance taking place on the 1st July 2019, merely because his extension of stay expires around that time. There is of course no reason to believe that anything will happen in the short term (not least of all because the Police Order has not yet been published).
Just another time-waster.

Lots of people have been experiencing blood coming from their mouths and noses, they pointed out.
The city was reported for many days recently to have been the most polluted in the whole world.
17 minutes ago, rascalman said:Toenail what is your problem d no you like the pollution?
Actually, "Toenail" is quite right to draw attention to the veracity of the "report" and ask whether there were other potential contributory causes to this poor man's death. If he had been a long term smoker then lung cancer might have been partly responsible. He might have already suffered from COPD (Chronic OObstructive Pulmonary Disease), pneumonia, or perhaps emphysema. All or any of which might be revealed by the autopsy. There has been one report of a woman with a nose bleed (who let the blood stream into her mouth) because that made for a much more interesting photo. But "lots of people"...where's the evidence?
Of course, nobody likes or wants to live in a city where the air quality is so poor. It's simply naive of you (and others) to accept this report as having incontrovertible facts.

The consequences are potentially many and varied.
1) It's probable that your work permit (if you have one) will be rescinded
2) It's likely that your visa will be revoked
3) Your employers are likely to contact the police
4) Your emplyers might expect you to repay any money you've (illegally) earned
5) You will more than likely have to go to court
6) It's possible you might have to contribute to BIB's tea fund
7) It's likely you will be fined (heavily)
8) It's unlikely that you will go to prison
9) It's likely you will be deported
All-in-all it's a stupid thing to contemplate.

Thank you all for your responses (which are much appreciated) regarding available services for transferring the money.
I'm going to stick with Lloyds but I'm still none the wiser regarding whether or not I'm better off (with regards to exchange rates) making the transfer in sterling or baht.

If you need these transfers to show up as "Foreign" on your Thai bank statement for visa renewal purposes note that people have reported that TransferWise transfers do not show up as foreign on some Thai banks statements...
Yes, this is exactly why I'm doing this and with regards to Transferwise, that's my understanding too.

Thank you for your response. However, I need the transfer to be easily idientifiable as a "Foreign" transfer, not "local".

You can pay either using your Debit Card or using a Faster Payments Bank Transfer and as the money is sent locally, the funds will be in the Thai Bank account within a few hours or 1 working day.

I have an account with Lloyds TSB bank in the UK and I'm never sure whether it's best to transfer money to Kasikorn bank in sterling and have them change it to baht. or to use the low Lloyds exchange rate (currently 38.7 baht to the pound). Wahtever method I choose Lloyds will
charge me a transaction fee of £9.50 (approx 360 baht). Also, Lloyds say that transferring money in sterling might mean the transaction takes some days longer to complete. Can this be true?
Simple answers would be appreciated.

You could then combine it with your occupational pension into single monthly transfers each amounting to 65k+ and coded as "International Trade and Factoring Centre TFN05030".
OJAS,
As a follow-up to your reply to my post, I thought you might like to know that I've taken your advice and asked the IPC to revert to paying my pension into my UK bank account.

I have 2 sources of income via pensions neither one of which meets the 65k requirement but when added together, easily exceed the required amount.
My work pension I transfer from my UK bank account every month to my Kasikorn account. When checking my account online, the deposit is identified as "International Trade and Factoring Centre TFN05030". So I guess that's an easily identifiable foreign transaction?
But my government pension, is (or should be) paid monthly directly into my Kasikorn bank account BUT checking my online statement, I see this is identified as a "Domestic Money Transfer" NOT a foreign transfer. I've been to Kasikorn to ask for an explanation but they seemed not to understand what I (my Thai wife) was asking, (i.e. "why isn't this shown as an international transaction"?)
So i've written to the Pensions Service in the UK asking for confirmation regarding as to which bank they actually transfer my pension. I have the horrible feeling that they transfer the pension to the Bank of Thailand central clearing house, who then transfer it onwards to Kasikorn bank (hence the "Domestic Money Transfer"). That being so, how do I get Kasikorn bank to confirm that it's actually an international transaction?

Joe
This is the response from the DWP:
TVP International Queries <[email protected]>Tue 05/02/2019 11:04Dear Mr XXXXX (Shoeless Joe)
Thank you for your email to Newcastle Pension Centre (International Group) dated 30th January 2019
The way the money has to be paid it is sent to citi bank who is our bank provider who then forward the transfer to citi bank Thailand then they send it onto your bank in local currency.Yours Sincerely
The Pension Service 11
I woder if Kasikorn have a code which idenifies the origin of the transfer (i. e.) "foreign"?

Yes, OK and thanks.
I think that somewhere I might have the original paperwork from 6 or 7 years ago, when I first set up the transfer. I'll also check with the Pension Service and with Kasokorn bank. If I find out anything useful, I'll add it to this thread.

My apologies if this has already been picked up earlier in this thread.
I notice that transfers into my account are simply identified as "TRN" in my Kasikorn Bank book. However when i just now checked my account online via the KCyber online banking route, in the section "Account Management" / "Statement Enquiry" foreign transfers made by me from my bank in the UK direct into my Kasikorn bank account is clearly visible as: "international Trade and Factoring Centre TFNXXXXXX. But my UK Government pension, which is paid directly into my account is identifeid as "Domestic Money Transfer BNTXXXX".
Would I be right in assuming that this is because my UK pension is paid into the Kasikorn Bank Head office and is then transferred onwards to my CM account (hence a "Domestic Money Transfer). Can I ask Kasikorn to identify the payment from now on as an International Payment?
By the way, 6 months accounts are available for copying.

Such a sour curmudgeonly post!
Why people are here is is none of your business and neither is the way they choose to manage their finances (neither of which affect you in any way). The fact is that many ex-pats have been put on the back foot by the sudden decision(s) by 4 embassies to peremptorily change the process for income letters and / or affidavits.
Why not try to be a little more tolerant and empathetic and maybe a little less smug?
Happy New Year

Well , no one actually does any running in the last one , they just stand about arguing with each other and wait for all the other runners to get back and tell them they should have gone on a different route
Now THAT's funny....good one!

I have 2 pension income streams paid monthly into my Kasikorn ban account with a combined total of circa B80,000 (one is approx B57,000 and the other approx B23,000). I can show this has been happening regularly every month for circa 7 years. Do you think TI will be OK with this if the "Bankbook Route" is approved?

I had Christmas lunch here a couple of years ago and it was a terrible experience. An excessively long wait (1 hour+) for very average food (dry, cold turkey) and vegetables served lukewarm. Endless excuses regarding lack of serving staff and inexperienced kitchen staff I think the price was B550/600 add in the price of a couple of drinks and it was more than B1000 each. I don't really understand why it's double the price of a Sunday lunch (except for the blatant profiteering, like many other restaurants on this day).
Ho, ho ho...
