  1. Last year I went to Erawan national park in Kanchanaburi with Thai friends, the entry price for them was 40baht, the price for me was 10X at 400 baht !

My Thai friends were shocked & argued with the office to no avail.

They office said he is a farang so he can pay more, they said I've lived in Thailand for 8 years & is not a tourist, again it fell on deaf ears..

they refused to pay so our party of 12 people walked away..

I wish more tourists/residents would walk away the same, maybe they would get the message.
Or Thais in foreign countries should be charged double the price for food/beverages or 10X for entering national parks etc & see if the message gets through!!

Dual pricing is a form of racism pure & simple!

The airports concerned may have to prove their systems will be in place without them actually being ready at the time of the mid year inspection.

I'm not quite sure that's how it works?
I'm sure the security equipment that's required for the inspection has to be not only "in place" but "plugged in" and working?

Or is this another Thainess approach to things, we'll do it in our own time-frame.
The equipment is here on-site, what more do you want ?

I knew life was cheap here. But 3000 baht for offing somebody is outrageous, tragic, and frankly scary.

I am going to hedge my bets that the cop who orchestrated the whole thing gets bail and flees while these less well connected / well heeled accomplices will get the full weight of the law.

    Disgusting

3000 baht is cheap, but then you get what you pay for... Caught!!!!
Spend a bit more for a professional job!

The man left and she locked the doors but then he reappeared at the driver's side and this time turned on a sex movie on his mobile phone and said: "Let's do that together"

Begs the question, if she was in her car with the doors locked why didn't she drive away, why would she get out of a secured car to walk out in the open with him in tow??
She should have started the car, drove away or at least sat with the horn blasting to attract attention...then drive away!

It looks like the bus is almost completely back on its own side of the yellow lines at the point of impact while the truck trailer was on the wrong side of the yellow lines. Both the small bus being overtaken by the large bus and the oncoming small sedan ahead of the truck/trailer pull over on to their respective hard shoulders to make way. Admittedly the big bus pulled an illegal overtake on a hill but I wonder if the truck driver bottled out after he had already committed to overtake the small sedan in front of him and forgot that he was about 30' longer than his regular 10-wheeler.

Agreed it looks like both the large bus & the truck were overtaking at the same time, almost mirror image maneuvers.
One manic you only have a slight chance of survival, two together you got no chance!!
Looking at the road markings both were doing an illegal overtake, add in poor visibility, road conditions both were in the wrong.. but therein lays the problem.. put all the safety controls in place that you like... but if you put a suicidal idiot behind the wheel nothing will prevent this type of accident.
Vehicle safety features only go some way to preventing accidents, driving education should be the priority with severe penalties for anyone who breaks them, eventually the message will get through!!

What sort of a brain dead person wears a 120,000 baht gold chain, in Pattaya, at night?  Common sense would tell you that flashing an expensive gold chain is nothing but a magnet for thieves, especially in Pattaya.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't wearing it.
The photo proves nothing, except he was wearing a chain at some point in the past, it may have been the same one or a different one.
maybe he was robbed, maybe he wasn't, maybe he's looking for a police report so he can make an insurance claim on his return to China to pay for his holiday????

Who knows and who really cares?

  7. Once again Thai academicals unashamedly showing off their knowledge to the rest of the world!
The likes of Honda, Toyota, Mercedes & the rest of the global car makers must be quaking in their boots at this revelation, maybe the millions of Yen, Euros & dollars invested in vehicle safety has been wasted as Thailand has the answer yet again!

It lays not in automated car safety features, all that's required is GPS tracking, self auditing, hand written log books & police checks to curb suicidal drivers, combat weather conditions, brake failures not to mention tour buses that are prone to "flipping" in the vicinity of klongs or bends in the road.

Well done gentlemen, pat yourselves on the back... your Nobel prize notifications are in the post!

It's about time the Government implemented a serious course and driving test for coach drivers, on par with European standards, make it expensive; a serious investment for anyone who wants to be a coach driver, and confiscate licenses when the drivers exhibit dangerous driving behaviour...... ohhh wait, sorry, I just woke up, must've been dreaming again..... it's but a circus run by clowns and chauffeured by gibbons.

While I agree with what you're saying, and the fact that something needs to be done, in reality what you propose would never work in Thailand.

If you train to be a doctor you know it will be expensive to do so, but when you're qualified you will reap the rewards, in essence you will get your money back.
If you pay-out for expensive training to be a coach driver & the company pay you peanuts for your salary then that's not much of an incentive!!
Why do you think all mini-vans & coaches are driven by monkey's?

    A) they like peanuts!!
