Did I say anything about 7-11, Tesco, or KFC?
Im talking about a street stall, market, you know, where the majority of Thai people buy stuff and wander around.
You know, the places without price tags? And even when they do have price tags, you know that shit is negotiable and a Thai gets more of a discount than a foreigner (for the most part, if you go to the same markets all the time you don't need to fixate)
You didnt say anything about 7-11 Tesco or KFC, I did .
The point was that they all charge the same for Thais and non Thais.
The markets that I go to charge me the same price as Thais .
Although they usually add on 20 Baht , and I have to ask for a 20 Baht discount , which is usually given

Does a thai pay less than a foreigner? You are not educating anyone dude. We all know how it works when buying shit at a stall or shop.
Do you think that you will get the same price as a Thai?
I do yes , the prices are clearly marked and thats is what both myself and Thais pay .
I dont often see Thais in KFC , 7/11 , AirAsia , hairdressers , Tesco lotus asking for and getting a discount on the clearly stated prices

So a Thai buying a t-shirt at a street stall will pay the same price as a foreigner?
A Thai buying a pair of shoes at MBK (for example) will pay the same price as a foreigner?
Yeah sure there are exceptions but generally speaking yeah we get gouged.
A market stall holder can set his price and its up to the buyer whether he decides to purchase or not .
Non market shops have clearly marked prices . Hotels, restaurants , shops have clearly marked prices and those prices are the same for everyone .

Nobody rips off tourists in Western countries. I live in the Netherlands for example and tourist prices are the same as the locals pay. If other Western countries were perpetuating the kind of overcharging that takes place in Thailand it would be all over the news media in no time at all.
Although the huge majority of tourists prices are exact;y the same as Thai prices .
A few places do charge more for foreigners , but they are so few, that its Hardy worth mentioning .
Many Western Countries do also give concessions to locals .
It is also not a "rip-off" , prices are clearly marked and its up to you whether you want to pay that price or not

I have often wondered about the same thing. Relatively "handsum" Farang men with unattractive Thai wife's.
Maybe the thinking is: " A very average looking woman is less likely to abandon ship, as opposed to a "stunner"."
- .Maybe the two people actually like each other ?
Maybe she is quite a nice person ?

I took a bus to Udon Thanni from CM and then took the train to Nong Khai , the train was 11 Baht , you can then also get a train from Nong Khai to Vientiane for 20 Baht .
There are only a few trains per day though

I have been in Thailand for six years now, predominately in Chiang mai .
What I have observed is that there seems to have been a huge decline in the white knights in shining armour
Typically, middle aged guys , divorced back home, on a pension, sold up and left their home Country .
Who come to Thailand with a big bank balance and look for the loves of their lives and want to invest in a bar and are quite happy to support their new love .
There did seem to be a regular supply of this category . Going back a few years .
I just dont seem to see them anymore .
There also seemed to be numerous younger Western guys happy to live long term with their holiday love .
Move in together, think about moving back home with them .
I dont seem to see them anymore either .
The cleverer girls seem to have gotton shacked up, and all the "left on the shelf girls" seem to have either gone back to their village or are still desperately trying to find a suitor .
Just my opinion and I may be completely wrong , as I dont get out much these days
Has anyone else noticed the decline in the white Knight in shinning armour ?

It makes one wonder- how did people survive prior to the computer age? Actually, quite well.
Although before computers . you could just give your passport to a local guy , who would go to the border and come back with a new visa without you ever having to leave the beach

74,400 baht for 96 bottles equates to 775 baht per bottle. A visit to Tesco's would have been a better option.
I dont think that the intention was to actually buy the whisky though , it was a police sting , so the price agreed doesnt matter

The reason on the Trump thread that people say the accusers are lying is "why did it take the accusers 5, 10, 20, 30 years to come forward, why at an election for POTUS" , yet the accusers for the Cardinal also took 30 years to come forward so the Cardinal is a pervert as the accusers must be telling the truth. Ergo - why not apply the same standard to their hero Trump? He is also a pervert according to the standard they apply to the Cardinal. In my eyes BOTH sets of victims/accusers need to be heard and not belittled as the way the evidence is mounting up they should both be locked up.
It just seems odd that Trumps accusers come forward just prior to an election . The Cardinal isn't standing for an election . Its quite possible that Trumps accusers are doing it for political purposes. Or is it just a coincidence that they decided to make their allegations a few weeks before an election ?

Have you read all the posts in this topic?
Muslim is very much to the fore!
We are specifically talking about Slips post and my post .
I am losing track of this discussion, so I wont add anything further

Some, maybe.
But when you look at who others are and their comments whenever the word 'Muslim' appears anywhere, it is obvious that they took you seriously.
Or rather took Slip seriously. Having checked back I see no one liked your post; sorry.
Slip didnt mention "Muslims" though .
And neither did I
He wasnt specific about any location or Religion or anything at all .
He didnt mention Muslims at all , you did

Except Nimman which I rarely frequent (for a reason), everywhere else. Back of Hang Dong, not a problem, around the Night Bazaar, not a problem. Hiya, Chang Phuak, Saithiantham (I hope I spelt that right).... take your pick, plenty of places that trade late now, be it that 99% of them cant be seen from a main through road.
I will take a wander around the Night bazaar tonight at 2 AM to find these places .
I know that no where in Loi Kroh stays open until that time,
Which direction should I look in ?
I dont want to go to any lock ins .
Being open and getting locked in are two different things

Ok, you two were being sarcastic; but looking at those who liked your posts I am not the only one who took you seriously!
However, I apologise for my misinterpretation.
Maybe the people who liked the posts, did actually realise they were meant as sarcasm ?

A, presumably, Muslim man gropes a girl on a plane and certain posters use that as an excuse to paint all his coreligionists as sexual perverts. As they do with every sexual assault case of any nature where the accused is a Muslim.
This is not the first child sex abuse allegation involving the Catholic church; many of which have been proven.
Yet those same posters are, as ever, silent on the matter.
Speaks volumes about those posters.
So, thats Trump. a Muslim man on an aeroplane and Catholic priests and posters on TV.
And we need to compare all of them together and un named posters different reactions ?

But it is entirely on topic in terms of your consistency. One rule applies for all. You hope this Cardinal gets his comeuppance yet Trumps accusers are liars. It is on-topic. You are making comments on one thread on this very subject of sexual abuse and making entirely different comments on this thread.
Maybe he thinks that Trumps accusers are lying and the person from this story is telling the truth ?
Or are you saying that people need to have the same opinion about both allegations ?

There are a number of British citizens in prison in Thailand for a range of offences; including drug smuggling, murder and child rape.
Are you suggesting that Thailand should expel all Brits living there?
I wasnt being serious .

I guess you've never had the pleasure of working at a Thai government school and seeing how the directors live, compared to any of the lower or mid-level teachers. Do you know starting salaries for entry-level teachers are just over minimum wage? Take off the rose-colored glasses Captain Thailand.
I havent worked in a Thai school .
Directors do usually earn more than teachers , starting salaries are usually quite low as well .
But no one knows how much the teacher was earning or how much more he wanted .
No one knows how much the director earned or how much profit his school made .
Its unfair to label the director as being greedy , with nothing to back this up .
Maybe the teacher was being greedy in asking for a higher salary that he was worth ?
If the teacher was worth more than his salary, he could go to work in another school that would pay him his worth

. they spent all their saving and now complain they must go back to UK and complain about the system. " oh poor me, the £ lost 10%...I must go home now, bouhouhouhou "
Why would they complain about the Pounds devaluation if they had spent a all their money and had none left ?

I think you miss the point, the OP only surmised that the director had a Merc, he was making the point that..........never mind!
So, his point wasnt based on any actual facts ?
His point was that the Director was being greedy in not giving a pay rise ?
That point is also not based on any facts , just a wild assumption

If people were claiming that foreigners pay more than Thais for commodities, then giving an example of the numerous outlets that charge the same price is a relevant point .
Market traders give a price , you make an offer , and then to come to an agreed price, that is the way of markets the World over
The trick is to know the value of the thing that you want to buy, you can ask around to get the value, if you are nt sure .
Thats the way markets work .
