Report Thai Abbot Sues Bank Over Alleged 1.3 Billion Baht Embezzlement
UbonEagle replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Absolutely mind boggling (if true...) that a Wat held funds of nearly 1bn baht 9 years ago, I know Ubon pretty well and that seems astounding.. Maybe a massive wat in BKK or CM with celebrity benefactors... As previous posters state, poor people hand over money to these places beyond their means. Thankfully my Mrs sees them for what many of them are... Freeloading jailbirds lying low, trying scams on anyone they can. Not all of course, some genuine -
Report Hun Sen Threatens to Reveal Thaksin's Secret Betrayals
UbonEagle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Seems the treacherous military faction, pockets still filled from their turn at the trough, have paid off this treacherous old murderer to try and create an "event" to allow them to get back at the helm... -

No fan of the woman-child PM, but these idiotic vexatious litigants should all be put on an island together to bore and annoy each other to death.... -

Crime Woman Initially Thought to Have Died from Covid-19 Found to Be Murdered
UbonEagle replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
In defence of the OP it is very clear that many deaths of Frail/elderly/ underlying conditions people during the pandemic were attributed to covid, where in reality they simply died of old age, or they were already ill and covid just finished them off, just as the complications of getting the flu in those circumstances would have done. Its very clear in hindsight that media and governments used these statistics to whip up hysteria to scare people into doing the right thing...I speak mainly from my experience in Australia at the time, I'm sure most countries were the same... Thailand obviously was -

UbonEagle replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
If cans disposed of back in the boat, who gives a toss... Meanwhile a lot of Thais unfortunately just throw their rubbish in the street or better still pile it up and burn emitting stinking toxic smoke right in the middle of suburbia... -
Report Staggering 80% of Thai Army Conscripts Battling Drug Addiction
UbonEagle replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The number sounds a little far fetched to me, are we sure this isn't some sort of political stoush the minister has with the army ? Perhaps they were surveyed and 80% said they'd used drugs... Whoopy do they are young males... I play golf inside an army base and believe me most are hard fit and healthy looking to my eye -

US Nurse Suffers Devastating Facial Injuries in Krabi Moped Crash
UbonEagle replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
Every time one of these stories come thru there's a constant tirade of criticism directed at the victim. While I'm not defending their actions (in most cases self inflicted damage), I have to wonder if any of these harsh critics were ever 20yo, did anything reckless or god forbid broke a law 🤔...I certainly did silly things home and abroad in my late teens and 20s, and only with a brush off good luck came thru unscathed.
