  1. As the map suggests, the far eastern section of the country this time of year has what I consider pretty good AQ. We are on the outskirts of muang Ubon and even with localised lighting the sky view at night is very very clear. Not always like this of course but we don't have some of the ingredients of the far north that contribute to poor AQ - mountainous areas with hard to contain wildfire often triggered by reckless illegal burning, sugar cane, heavy industries
  2. Probably one of the major factors may be lack of bike skills/experience. Not proud of it, but can say I rode bikes in Indonesia and Thailand while off chops many times in my 20/30s and never had a serious accident….grew up riding bikes (dirt and later road) from age 10 or even younger
  3. Hardly a major threat…meanwhile bikies, drug lords and Asian triads come and go from Thailand seemingly invisible 🤔
  4. These cronies will have their day when a rebranded MF hold power after the next election 😊
  5. Call me an optimist but I can’t see how a rebranded FF party won’t win an even bigger % of votes next election, and with a senate that now must be at least 20% ? aligned with them it will be impossible to stop them from holding power…except the C word…
  6. Comments about fines sending CP broke…😅 you’re kidding aren’t ya. But I must say is be surprised the species can get too prolific if they’re half decent eating, given the pressure most wild fish stocks are under here
  7. The wife participated her restaurant in the last handout scheme, I’m not full bottle on it but she claimed that later on she was required to pay a large chunk of the revenue back in tax/fee, which was not communicated prior. Believe many will be sceptical about this one. As for the economic benefits I’d say very little, money better spent on improving infrastructure, it all ends up back in the economy
  8. That’s why I’d never sell my place back in Australia, even in retirement I clearly never plan to be here March-May due to the heat/haze. fortunately here in Ubon we don’t suffer too much from the early season haze in Jan-Feb, in fact that is possibly the best months of the year here for cool clear weather. but come March 1…get the hell out 😊
  9. Couldn’t comment on touristy spots but the Mrs says this is the lowest point in 12yrs of operating a restaurant in large northern regional city which has next to nil tourism related trade. And daily trip to market confirms this, absolutely dire. of course it is wet season which always slows down trade, but people with money are just very reluctant to spend atm…a reflection of the shambolic political situation I’m sure. as I board a near empty flight from Perth to bkk I can’t think the tourist areas are much better 💩
  10. I have no idea of price of planes but 60 mill AUD seems like a crazy number for 3 items…maybe it’s the old prices up supply chain / COVID scam excuse

  12. Seriously would they stop pedalling this bull…. , it’s embarrassing 🤔
  13. The country really is a mess. The wife has owned & managed a successful medium size restaurant in a regional (non mainstream tourist) city for the last 10yrs and says currently this is easily the worst the economy has been in that period. Prey for a massive change up at next election, I actually think it’s inevitable
  14. Did pth bkk biz in April just before songkran as had expiring points and expected it to be packed, which both biz and Econ certainly were not. flight wise ok, as mentioned the seats are a little dated but is only 6hr and I was flying daylight food and service good aa expected it’s a few notches below it’s premium competitors but as only direct flight it’s a no brainer
  15. Any ex refinery operators out there will know that due to tankage and scheduling requirements, for example the 95 at the bowser is often higher eg 97 we used to call it giveaway in Australia, the tank farm guys would tell everyone buy the 91 this week it’s actually 95 😊
  16. More power to the girl 👌 and you can see far more exposed on mtv rap gangsta video clips, unfortunately many of them are built like weightlifters 🤮
  17. Enforcement of this (or lack of) will become another good revenue stream for the RTP 🙏
  18. Like most of these young “not very radical imo” protesters around the globe, only a minority of them have a freakin clue about what they’re actually protesting about ….
  19. Classic timing in the wake of record breaking heatwaves and smoke/pollution 😊
  20. Only solution… get out of there for few months between March and May
  21. Rarely here this time of year (weather 🤮) but I’m surprised by Ubon readings of 150 or higher, when generally the readings here are much lower than CM for example. While there is no doubt a light haze around (I put that more down to the blistering temps and near dead still wind), there’s no noticeable smoke odour, and I don’t think Ubon is large or congested enough to have high 2.5 from industrial factors. Going to Oz with the Mrs on Wednesday but like most here all I can say is….bring on the rain ☔️
  22. What a joke when we regularly read stories of 50yr sentences for fraud or embezzlement….who knows what they actually serve tit
  23. Flew into new terminal first time last night unawares, and I have to say the whole shuttle train etc functioned very well, no different in time to walking from some of the further reaches of the original terminal building god forbid it looks like they’ve just copied Singapore Changi instead of trying to put their own spin of Thainess on it 😊
  24. For most of Thailand it’ll be the 4 days 13-16th tho in tourist areas they will undoubtedly milk it for a few days either side
  25. Another hare brained spur of the moment idea and impossible to enforce….you idiots
