Rocky start for Thailand’s latest alcohol tax reform
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And 12:00 am-11:00. Don't forget this. Alcohol is only for purchase at 711's, supermarkets etc in Thailand for only 10 hrs a day. Just insane. Of course where tourists go bars and restaraunts continue to serve. -
They were taken down by 250 unelected senators put in by the Junta. They won the election with just under 38% of the vote grabbing 151 seats and in Thailand that's a landslide. Pita was cleared of the bogus charge of shareholding in a (defunct) media company is correct but it was enough to prevent him from being PM. The only way to change the system is to get the military out because this is the only way that a party that wants to change the system can get in. If this is not clearly evident then nothing is.

MFP warned of legal implications ahead of general debate
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No need for now. PT coalation has more than enough targets on their backs. The Thaksin sham can wait. -
Kowtowing should be banned in schools. It goes hand in hand with not questioning teachers and one must respect and not challenge authority. As for your comment that being good in a classroom isn't anything special to me this says you've never been in a Thai classroom. As for teachers not being rewarded enough you are spot on with this one.

Thaksin’s political resurrection starts with crucial Chiang Mai test
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sadly next time round MFP will not exist and Pita will be barred from politics for 10 yrs. The military has already decided this and the judges have been handed their verdicts and substantial brown paper bags. -

Fairly sure us not Political Science and Law lecturers on here have been saying this for rather some time now. Everyone knows he has never stopped being the puppeteer. -
Rocky start for Thailand’s latest alcohol tax reform
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe the delay is more to do with working out the process after the announcement rather than before. The entrance tax is a good example of this. First the thought bubble, then the announcement and then work out how to implement it. -
Comparing apples and oranges here. Thailand is ruled by the military/elite. The highest courts are miltary plants. The Senate is full of military plants. The EC is military plants. I cannot see a comparison. Everyone knows the charge is spurious but to defend against it MFP must go through a corrupt system designed to maintain the status quo i.e. the power and wealth of the military/elite.

General debate against the government set for April 3rd and 4th

Should be interesting. I have also seen that BJP are now on the chopping block for disolving. Plan I guess is to get rid of everyone other than those that back the military. -

Thailand braces for heatwave and storm surge across 12 provinces
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand braces for heatwave and storm surge across 12 provinces Should read: Thailand still bracing for heatwave and storm surge across 12 provinces as this was forecast this time last week and it didn't happen as far as I know. Again it's the hot season and suprisingly the weather is hot in the hot season. Not a heatwave which is a prolonged period of hot weather over and above that which is normal for the period. As for storm surge once again the terminology is incorrect. Nowhere in the article does it mention a storm surge which is: "A storm surge .... is defined as the danger of life-threatening inundation from rising water moving inland from the shoreline somewhere within the specified area, generally within 36 hours, in association with a tropical, subtropical, or post-tropical cyclone." https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/surge/warning/#:~:text=A storm surge warning is,%2C or post-tropical cyclone. So no heatwave and no storm surge. Great headline. -
Social science exam paper raises debate over national security

The way to learn is to look it up, however, your second sentence is an example. -
Social science exam paper raises debate over national security

Indeed not. Next thing they'll be thinking for themselves and challenging the system and this cannot be tolerated. Indoctrination must be total and dissent must be quashed before it starts. -
Social science exam paper raises debate over national security
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Is does indeed. It's been withdrawn/censored due to NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS so Thailand is going nowhere which is exactly what the military/elite want. The status quo is power and money for a very few and it shall not change. -

Fascism, totalitarianism, religion and sadly parts of democracy all do the same thing. Brainwashing and indoctranation. Any thoughts or conversations that challenge the dogma or narraritive is seen as dangerous and conspiratorial. One must think how we tell you to think.
