I cannot spot a single person wearing a mask in the photo.

They should make it absolutely clear if they are using a stock photo from before the cv crisis.

Knowing the level of journalism this is probably a library/stock photo. There is no mention of photo in the story. So yes, I would say you are right. Probably couldn't get a pic of large numbers of people not wearing masks because most people are wearing masks. Maybe this story was posted from someone working at home and they got their 5 yr old to choose a pic.

i believe .......   that your answer is sufficient to at least make me wonder why you are so vocal

about how many people you believe are infected.  Also,  if many have been infected but show little or no symptoms,  i think that is a good thing.

Thank you for your answer.   None that you know.   I find no reason to speculate on what i believe as i also do not know anyone.   Or anyone that knows anyone.

Please do not start a debate with me.    Your posts speak for themselves

Listen to anyone, by this I mean experts, news, commentators etc and they now all say "official figures" "we all know the figures are higher" because everyone knows, maybe not you, that the official figures are under reported. You believe the govt official figures good for you. I guess you believe the figures from China also.

I do not think any country is telling the true numbers of infections only those in hospital not the cases that they known about with no symptoms or sent home for 14 day quarantine

From what is now coming out figures are at least 10x what the 'official' figures are in regards to infection. In regards to deaths it's hard to know. The UK wasn't including deaths in oldies homes for example.

Time to introduce the alcohol ban again. Should be one of the last things that gets lifted.

Out of the people illegally congregating [129] 60% were caught drinking alcohol

That's 60% of 129. So at a guess around 70 people in all of Thailand.  Hope your comment Oldie is tongue in cheek otherwise you'd look like a bit of an idiot.

So perhaps you can explain how Makro were able to sell to me at 07:00 and Friendship at 10:50 ?

Buying bulk use to be permitted outside the designated times not sure if it stll is otherwise not sure. Many a time I've had to wait for the clock on the register to tick over. They have scanned it but it won't register until 11:00 or 5:00.

Yea, after that video emerged yesterday of people grabbing boxes of beer it was said that they were taking it before 11am. My assumption was that they would take the beer and wait till 11 to buy it. Some officials’ assumption was they were buying it before 11.

My assumption was correct. The idea of applying logic won out.

No need to assume. You are right. The cash registers are programmed for the specific times. 10:59 no. 11:00 yes. 1:59 yes. 2:00 not sure. 2:01 no.

  7. The whole idea of the Thai public education system is to keep the poor poor with substandard education in overcrowded classrooms where the latest technology is chalk. I am in no way pointing my finger at the teachers but a broken system rife with corruption. This is just more hot air nonsense from grandstanding empty heads. Undoubtably there will be some sort of a problem (pockets aren't filled yet) before they rejig it. 500,000 primary school students will get Bt600 a day. Bt18,000 for one month. This is either a translation problem, a poorly written article, a typo or a complete croc of you know what.

They have to go up, so the girls can make as much as before from fewer 'jobs'.

It's an interesting ecomomic conumdrum. Less tourists, less money to spend might just price themselves out of the market and make make less money. Drop the price, more custom and more money. Sadly it will be up the price again. Went over the top expensive many years ago when the Japanese came in.

Far from arguing against myself, I'm arguing (as I consistently have) against the fallacy that wearing a mask will protect against becoming infected by the COVID virus.

The tiny gaps in mask materials are large enough for any virus to easily penetrate. Also, wearing a mask for long periods - particularly one of the cheaper varieties or a scarf -is downright unhealthy, as loose fibres can be inhaled and cause respiratory problems.

A mask IS useful is when used by an infected person, or a surgeon in an operating theatre, as it stops saliva and other potentially germ-laden fluid from being sneezed or coughed into the air.

You really haven't kept up have you. It's about protecting others. How do you know you are infected if you are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic. You don't unless you have been tested usually more than once. It's about protecting other people from yourself not about you being protected. I realise this may be a difficult concept.

Sorry, that went out the window the same moment that alcohol are again available from today.

Thai people lost their Songkran, been out of work and out of money. You can bet your last satang that alcohol fuelled parties are going on around the country, from today.

Long weekend + alcohol ban lifted ....... So much for planning.

What you are missing here or simply do not know is that alcohol has been available throughout the ban. Also people haven't stopped sitting around in groups alcohol or not. It's the travelling that's the problem. Lot's of people on beaches if that's happening is just as bad as your alcohol fuelled parties. One can't be too simplisitic as there are many variables.

If nothing has changed, entering the province is prohibited.
My eldest daughter is a doctor at That Phanom hospital and we cannot go to visit her while we live in the province of Sakon Nakhon .

The two provinces have a long common border

Nakhon Phanom will allow only passengers to enter the passenger terminal, not their relatives and friends. The province also has barred migrant workers from entering without the governor’s permission.

This means you can fly to Nakhon Phanom. Family and friends must wait outside the terminal. Social distancing outside the terminal?
