  1. One of his young giks maybe but not the missus. This is over and above the call of duty.
  2. Been a few days since we've seen the word HUB.
  3. Stomach problems and ear infections are common.
  4. For your average Thai the celebrations will be during the official holiday period which again is April 12-16.
  5. It won't be "21 days of splashing water". As I said above there will be virtually no difference. The actual holiday is April 12-16.
  6. Same every year. Makes no difference. 21 days? Well this will not really be the case. It will be basically the same. This yr. Fri12-Tues 16. As for road deaths/injuries well alcohol, speeding, aggressive driving, inattentive driving, no helmets, no seatbelts etc are occurring on the roads of Thailand every single day.
  7. Early morning and late night only. What a joke. Ends up just as expensive for me flying out of BKK than later flights due to transportation. Ok I guess if someone lives close to the airport. It will be interesting to see if they put the fares up for these flights and then discount.
  8. The only reason this is a story is because the real rising star, Pita, was corruptly and frauduently denied his rightful place as PM and his Party was by the same token denied their right to be the governing party which the ovewhelming majority of Thais voted for. Democracy should never be used to describe the political system here.
  9. Problem with legalizing all drugs, of which I support, is that systems such as rehab, social work and employment programs need to be put in place. Portugal has had success in this. Crime down and prison populations down. The bigger problem IMHO is not putting systems such as these in place but insted it is the very high level drug king pins and high level corruption that stops this from happening. There is absolutely no willingness to chop off the head of the snake. Way too much money involved.
  10. It's hardly good enough for bikes so having F1 or any variants would be hopeless. It's the worst track on the Moto GP circuit.
  11. Thailand to host prestigious Formula E electric-car championship Another BS headline. From the artice: "The Government of Thailand is set to welcome the prestigious Formula E electric-car racing championship in the coming year." This does not mean it's a done deal. ".....executives of Formula E will be scouting locations in Chiang Mai next week to ascertain the feasibility of holding the championship in Thailand." This certainly means it's not a done deal. Thailand to host prestigious Formula E electric-car championship This means it is a done deal. Apart from this Formula E is rubbish. Sound is a definite part of motor sports.
  12. Barcelona, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone and Circuit of the Americas are the only 4 common circuits used by both F1 and Moto GP so your intimation that a Moto GP track can also be used for F1 or any form thereof is not entirely accurate. The Buriram track is not suitable. It's hardly suitable for Moto GP. Very boring track. @ChrisY1 states: "Moto GP riders claim the Buriram track is far too easy and not really a competitive race track...." This is the reality of the Buriram track.
  13. How do you know this? Users can drop several pills in a day. This I know for certain.
  14. Corrupt police may exploit the situation. An admission that there are corrupt police. Nice one. Then says that dealers maybe only 6-10 pills and IMO not a dealing amount or possibly very, very small time dealer won't go to jail. Then says this policy will not reduce prisoner population. Then the need for more effective anti-drug regulations. Well the 'war on drugs' doesnt work. Thaksin's extrajudicial killings didn't work. Current policies don't work. What does he suggest. Globally the drug problem is not good and punitive measures simply do not work. Meth pills induce hallucinations and aggression regardless of quantity taken is just complete rubbish. One speed pill will not do this. Take two and still won't. It's methaphedamine. The serious problems come when people keep taking them and stay awake for days. Anxiety, extreme paranoia and hallucations become real. All of this and these fools want to recriminalise dope.
  15. Bt35K a month is not a lot. Not even close.
  16. Sadly this is more down to the agents and the Saudi bosses than the Thais trying to make money for their families.
  17. @Ralf001 "In 2001 Duangchalerm was arraigned for murder of a police officer. After fleeing to Malaysia, he returned and handed himself in. He was released from jail on bail terms in 2003, and finally acquitted as the court considered the evidence insufficient and the witnesses accounts contradictory." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalerm_Yubamrung
  18. This is more of a re-post of your post because you are spot on. Those boys were convicted on very dodgy DNA evidence and a phone. Sadly there are some on here that will not listen to anything else but their own opinions no matter what. Never too old to educate yourself and to do this sometimes one must be open to all sides of an argument. @MangoKoratyou've been visiting for 20yrs, I've lived here for 20 yrs but this should make no difference. One only has to Google. I pm'd ('cause off topic) @Ralf001 a couple of interesting YT vids in regards to this travesty of justice Thai style but no reply. Again I say your commeny is spot on.
  19. Cheers. I forgot about the Muay Thai visas. A visa to learn how to hurt people. You just can't make this stuff up. Maybe they should push Thailand as the HUB of anabolic steriods to increase this secor of visa applicants. As for quality tourism I think this just means rich tourists. IMHO this is tourism based on class. Not a good thing to embrace. Plenty of rich Chinese, Russian, Indian etc. tourists, but quality? Well this is debatable.
  20. This is of course only in a commercial sense. Hence the woman collecting passengers in the company car/van technically breaks the law. If she had driven her own car there would be no problem. It really is bottom of the barrel nit picking in this intance. I wonder how many times she's done it the past with no problems and only because of this knee jerk crackdown she's been done. As I have said previously she would employ people. She's not taking a job away from a Thai by driving to the airport/bus station or wherever to pick someone up and chances are most of the time a Thai does the pick up. More nonsense from Thai authorities flexing their powers.
  21. I always thought a pic on your phone of your detail page and visa page is ok. I've only been asked once and this was a very long time ago by BIB in Bangkok. Showed them the pics and all was sweet.
  22. I note this dot point and immediately think of two nationalities doing exactly this. Tour guide or sightseeing tour operation I also do not see barwork on the list but according to my friend who has a small bar and tells me it's illegal for him to serve drinks, it certainly should be. ps even volunteering needs a WP.
  23. She's pretty well off with resorts and the like and I would think employs Thais and or Burmese but this is simply rediculous. Maybe the Thai that normally does this was otherwise engaged maybe not but in the grand scheme of things when it comes to pettiness this is right up there. Not taking a job away from anyone as she is actually an employer that adds to the economy. She has created jobs. Not stolen a job meant only for Thais. Nothing will come of this if wiser heads prevail.
