  1. Nothing available from the Toyota dealer. Their suggestion was Lazada or Shoppe.
  2. Thanks for the reply! Hate buying from Lazada site unseen.
  3. Woke up at 6am to the sounds of heavy equipment while staying at the Hilton Pattaya this morning. Backhoe and loaders were reclaiming sand from the waters edge to fill the wash outs from the flood a few weeks ago. Photo taken from the 26th floor.
  4. Conflicting October Moderna delivery quantities. The Enquirer article referenced in this post dated 16 September says:: The Thai Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), together with Zuellig Pharma LTD and the Thailand’s Private Hospital Association (PHA), have worked to secure a total of 1,958,400 million doses of the mRNA vaccine for the country by the end of the year. The organization aims to deliver the first batch of 300,000 around mid-October, according to the Ministry of Public Read an article from The Nation dated 15 September that says 1.9 million being delivered in mid October:: Zuellig Pharma, the distributor and importer of Moderna vaccine, revealed on Wednesday that the manufacturer will be able to deliver the first batch of 1,958,400 doses around mid-October. Thailand will then receive about 300,000 doses per week https://www.nationthailand.com/blogs/in-focus/40006198 Did the delivery quantities change over night? Is it just poor journalism skewing the facts? Is it 300,000 being delivered or 1.9 million mid October? Confusing to say the least.
  5. Looking for an auto accessory store in Pattaya where I could buy seat covers for a Toyota Fortuner. Google didn’t produce anything worthwhile. Will be in Pattaya a few days so any recommendations would be appreciated.
  6. Received 2nd Pfizer jab at Central Festival Pattaya yesterday. Same lot # as 1st jab and they give you a certificate after.
  7. Some more video. https://www.facebook.com/1391732761098191/posts/3047033612234756/?d=n
  8. Just saw some posts on Facebook of a huge fire on Walking Steet. Looks bad.
  9. Bought a Toyota when I first retired to Thailand and the local dealer said you had to have a yellow book to finance no matter how much you put down. Another option was to find a “guarantee’r” too sign for me. Wouldn’t accept a certificate of residence from immigration or an affidavit stamped by the US embassy saying I could buy a car. Finally got the yellow book and showed my retired military account statement plus Thai bank account printout for the month and made the deal. As with a lot of things in Thailand requirements vary from dealership to dealership and you may talk to a different person at the same dealership the next day and get a different answer. Good luck!
  10. Province: Chon Buri (drove from Saraburi) Date: 26 August Location Bangkok Pattaya Hospital at Central Festival Are you over 60/chronically ill? No How did you register? Online google form from link provided by BPH Vaccination received Yes If yes, Type of vaccine : Pfizer Second jab booked for 3 weeks later. No response from expat vac so decided to drive to Pattaya.
  11. That is the Big C we shop at sometimes. Not a good PR time for the Thai Police lately like there ever was. Think the whole police force needs an enema and start from scratch. Police were called to our village once and they asked who would pay gas money for them to come.
  12. Two hours of white out rain this evening. Probably the most I have seen it rain here in that short of period in a long time. You could white water raft down our dirt road, scary to see what the road looks like in the morning. Good to live near the top of the hill. Hopefully it was a local event an no one else in the area got this deluge.
  13. This spider ran out from underneath my recliner while watching TV, almost spilled my beverage it startled me so much. Snapped a photo with my iPhone, wicked look creature and quite large. Looked on the internet but haven't positively identified it yet. Wonder if it is venomous?
  14. Almost exactly what happened to me. Only use the credit card for travel (air tickets/hotels). Which has been 4 times since March 2021 one of them being a Bangkok Air flight. The only exception to above post was my card was used by a popular e-wallet app in Brazil. A US card which has good fraud protection and denied all the charges luckily.
  15. I too live in an isolated area and have been staying at home since March of this year. It was refreshing to get away from the farm and spend a night in a nice hotel looking over the beach in Pattaya plus get a jab also. Felt good to drive further than the local grocery store. Had food delivered to motel via Grab which was nice change up from food at home. Wife and I both feel refreshed. No worries about staying isolated for 2 weeks upon return home we are isolated everyday anyway!
  16. Under 60 and drove 4.5 hours for the fist jab today at Central Festival Pattaya by BPH. Worth every km driven. The process was easy to navigate, well organized and can’t say enough about the super staff. Next appointment booked on the spot. Only down side was overhearing endless complaining and the guy in line in front of me who kept pulling off his mask to pick his nose every 3 minutes, almost like he couldn’t help it. Compulsive nose picker who wiped his finger on his shorts.
  17. Registered with expatvac only and received successful registration email 2 August. Under 60 by a few years no response in Saraburi from expatvac. Good to see movement though! Locals have an opportunity for Sinovac at the local clinic which is good to see come to a very out of the way area.
  18. Seems like things with expat vac are progressing, seeing movement and an email address to rectify failed registrations is good news.
  19. Nothing to do with Afghanistan exit. Americans whine so much and expect the govt to cater to them.
  20. COVID-19 is an unprecedented situation in modern history. Missed opportunity to improve multi-lateral humanitarian operations by the countries that participate in the annual Cobra Gold multinational military operation by giving COVID immunizations to people in austere areas this year. Geo political win I would think for all that did by sending in multinational medical teams/information technology teams to vaccinate local nationals and expats and assist with administration? Win win I would think? Tired planners that lack foresight to only rinse and repeat Cobra Gold. It is the realm of possible to vaccinate Americans in Thailand more so than other countries in SE Asia. The planning infrastructure, contracting mechanisms and senior leadership is in place
  21. Besides a few posts a good thread with pertinent points and intelligent discussion. From the comment above concerning the Afghanistan exit is not comparable to COVID 19 except in one way, the enemy has a say. Very short-sighted comment. US has provided COVID vaccines to Thailand and more coming. If you don't want the US help refuse your Pfizer vaccine.
  22. No reply or rejection email yet living here outside the Kingdom of Bangkok. Seems like the expat vac effort has some promise, seems like the MFA is working to get things ironed out with the website and MOPH is moving on registrations. I selected and drug my passport data page and last visa extension stamp at the same time when registering. Didn’t upload my original O visa from a few years ago. Communication in Thailand is poor on a good day but seems interagency communication is almost impossible. All operate as independent entities with independent systems who spout news without vetting with other agencies from reading the news. A few good data techs could develop a system quickly to integrate and disseminate the vaccine pool for Thai and foreigner but not sure there would be someone on the receiving end that knew how to manipulate and use the data.
