This is a comment that has my memory as its source. I think it is correct but I could be wrong. A retirement visa '0' expires after 20 years and medical insurance is required. No idea about other features. (A member posted that he went to the immigration office for some reason and discovered his o visa had expired. look for it on this site) A non 'o' is valid for 1 year and an extension must be applied for every year. 90 day reporting required (can be done online), exit/reentry stamps must be made for every trip out of the country or the visa is voided on exit (this costs 1000b at my local office and they give me a receipt). NO insurance required (at over 75 a big one for me). Some complicated financial conditions that I don't (have to) understand very well and avoid by keeping money on deposit that exceeds requirements. (we live on my small pension) This will be my wife's inheritance if we don't spend it. As a general comment I find the rules fairly easy to comply with and am thankful that a country as friendly as Thailand makes people like me welcome. I could not afford to live in a more costly country in the west. Also when reading and learning of the hate and fear so prevalent in the politics of the west it is a pleasure to live in a country of such tolerance of others. (I live in a small farming community in Isaan) That does not to say that I agree with the current policy of welcoming persons from countries currently at war with humanity. I speak of Russians and Israelis who are escaping war in their own countries but often seem to be bringing their xenophobic attitudes with them. In the case of Russian visitors they could well be criminals who fought in Ukraine, survived and were given freedom as their reward. Are these ex army persons given free visa on arrivals? I refer to public safety and criminality, not any other prejudices (such as anti semitic). I do not intend to offend, sorry if I have. (pic of morning walk🙏)

08 05 2025 I have been living in Thailand for a number of years with a non 'o' retirement visa. I am married to a Thai woman and we live in the rural Isaan village of her family. I had some cash so I bought land, gave it to wife and have use of it via an usufruct contract. On this land I built a house, a pool and other buildings for our use. We have no children from this relationship. Everything we have is paid for and now we live on my (very) small pension. I have enough funds on deposit to renew my retirement visa but that is it as far as money goes. My question is about the level at what level my income becomes taxable, please? Would 'windfall payments' of 100,000 THB be taxable if this money had been taxed at source already? I speak about accumulated tax refunds (over payment) from the country where my pension comes from. It is easy (was 4 me) but your original visa number is NOT written on the new stamp. Make a note of it as it is required on tdac entry form. The visa in old passport is stamped USED. My wife at home, I am in Canada, is searching for other mentions of visas and the online registration is giving me invalid, invalid. Is it me or is the system crashing? I arrive back on 01 05 2025 and expect to spend the day at the airport.

I am married to a Thai person and I live here with a retirement visa. Have pink card, house book etc.. GB is an option but I no longer have an address there. Also, I have had many covid vaccinations and travelled out of Thailand and back again during that time. Are my old vaccination records required and still valid? Also, on the subject of how some countries treat non citizens, think about how many (tens of thousands) documented immigrants were deported from the US to destinations often unknown in recent weeks? For those who choose to be alarmed with the methodology of the Thai officials I offer you this.🙏 When I look at the world from my quiet corner of Isaan I am pretty happy to make an effort to remain welcome here. We are guests here and should be thankful for the generosity of our hosts and their tolerance of our western ways.😵‍💫🙏

02 04 2025, I will be returning to Thailand on the 1st of May 1105 hrs following a 2 week visit to Canada. I am married to a Thai lady, have a house book, pink card and a valid retirement visa.. My GPS directs me to the AP no matter where I actually intend to go so I should just glide down there no problem. Is there anything to choose from regards car parks? Any cheap parking nearby please? Yes, I know it was a stupid time to book a flight but, there you go... Traveling from 90km north of Buriram town to Suvarnabhumi Airport by any means other than a domestic flight (last resort). My wife said I must go on the 14th to be sure but that would still mean sitting in traffic jams; just 1 day early. Plus cost of hotel (I am on a budget) I thought I would get a taxi early in the morning but these may be in short supply. It is between 6.5 hrs hwys 2&, or 6.5 hrs on hwy 304 (the Pattaya route). The former has not got many construction marked on google but the latter has lots (so it should be out) If I have a nap and leave in the early hours (0200, say) of the 15th I should be able to make the outskirts of Bangkok b4 rush hour and have many hours to make my 1500hr flight going along the expressway where there is no construction that I saw last time I was there. I think that there will be much less traffic at night even during Songkran. Do you agree or not? Any other ideas? Has hwy 304 still got lots of construction? Parking; Which parking should I aim for for a 2 week time period (if there is any difference). Thanks very much in advance for your comments. 🙏

19 03 2025, The 3M windscreen film was installed by Toyota when I bought my CH R new a few years ago. It seems to have developed a slight kind of orange peel texture which is unpleasant. I can still drive and the texture does not interfere with vision; it is just uncomfortable. Yes, I will go to the dealer, but I am asking here to learn more b4 asking them to do something for free, if it is that I could be entitled to a replacement. I have had difficulties in the past regards faulty goods and seeking service/replacement etc.. Not Toyota specifically but I would like to be prepared. Thanks in advance for any comments🙏

I just had a call from an american claiming to represent a Canadian Bank saying than my canadian bank account had been hacked. After a long song and dance we got to a different subject of me paying a fine for my indiscreet online viewing of porn. Now he represented Thai Govt Cyber Control. He said my indiscretion would be kept private and no further charges presented as long as I pay a small fine right away, today. Transfer 3,500 CND today at the bank or the charges could be more serious. Also I would have sign a NGA of some sort. I explained that the banks are closed today and the conversation lost its confident tenor. This person knew about my (almost never used) Canadian details but nothing about me here in Thailand except my phone number. I have multiple citizenships but they know only about my (unused) Canadian status but nothing else about me here. I have had some (few) dealings with the Canadian embassy and they referred to that. Did they just randomly find me or could they have hacked the Canadian Embassy? The name he gave me is Patrick and he was helpful and polite. Any Comments? Thank you🙏

What nationality were the attackers? Some nationals are more homophobic than others and assaulting non heterosexuals is seen as just and good fun too. An openly gay European friend was attacked by masked Russians on Koh Phangan a few years ago and FB posts lamented that the victim survived (he spent a week in hospital and nearly lost an eye) . Thailand's acceptance of all variations of genders is a breath of fresh air compared to the current position in the US. There, attacks on non heterosexual persons is being weaponized to breed hate, fear and contempt for political ends. There is no room for casual (or any) violence in a civilized society.🙏

06 12 2024 We all have our own beliefs for religion, societies, economics, politics etc. etc. but I find the practice of posting a profile picture which is a political statement offensive. I think many would complain if a swastika was used and photos of some controversial figures could disturb some. Personally, I find MAGA (make america great again) to be a political statement and do not know why it is allowed. Using the much hated Farage as a profile pic offends me; he was the person who pushed the UK into the brexit fiasco, causing misery for millions. Poor taste or misguided support of bad politics / persons who knows? I would prefer not to be reminded of these things when using this forum. Thank you🙏

Look at UK and Russian investors. This country would be bought up in a heartbeat. How can Thailand open its doors to countries at war. Russia and Israel, for example. Russia in particular has released prisoners from jail to fight in their illegal war. If a 'soldier' survives they are free to go. Go where? Thailand seems a good deal. These people are killers who have no regard for civility and have no fear. Last year a Russian person was given a 500b fine for kicking a pregnant shopkeeper in the stomach. How many have visited southern provinces lately? Hotels are posting Russian, as the language of the property ahead of English, French or any other. Staff are not Thai and many do not speak Thai. Opening the doors to cash rich foreigners will enrich the wealthy, not the public at large. Beware.

30 11 24, Back again and looking for a way to connect my imilab smart box to my router (cable connected). The incorrect password will not stop, I have uninstalled everything, changed the household 3bb 2.4gh router and gently followed all the instructions. I mistakenly bought a xaiomi camera too. When I tried to register with xaiomi. I tried using my email address and was advised that it was already taken. So I followed all the instructions to reset my forgotten password after they stated my user name email was already taken. Reset password 100% ok but next screen, on opening account, states user name or password is incorrect. What is this? Does the new password setting have to go to some distant central computer requiring a wait b4 using the new password? Not only that, is anyone experiencing multiple 'choose the bus or bike' to prove to be human? I contacted xaiomi international help line (email) and they were very polite writing to say that my imilab products are not their responsibility. I have an imilab email to write to but no response so far. This stuff seems very good. Is it only the software that is cr%p? Am I missing something here? (Threw away the shipping lable so cannot return. yes, stupid) Does someone have that key solution please? (as in, some unmentioned trick) Or an idea of where i can get some help. Please help. 26 11 2024, I purchased an Imilab kit including an EC4 camera and an Imilab Smart Hub. I also purchased an Imilab EC3 camera and a Xiaomi AW300 camera. There have been numerous problems setting up this system starting with an error message from the hub stating that the password was wrong. Which one was not mentioned. There is a password for Imilab app etc. but now I know it was a password for my router access that they are looking for. This problem persists in spite of entering the correct password multiple times following an uninstall etc.. Looking on YT I see that other people have this problem but no solution was offered. I got the 4 camera working but not sure if it is going though the hub or direct to my router. The EC3 imilab camera would not connect to the imilab smart hub (it is on the app's list of devices to add, however) but it did connect directly to my router and functions. The Xiaomi AW300 would not connect to the hub but is connected directly to my router. It seems that the cameras w/o batteries will need a reset or something in the event of a power failure but there is no mention of that so I don't know. Any ideas? Here is my question: Anybody know of an Imilab/Xiaomi help line that is not require that the items were purchased from them please? I bought these devices from Imilab Thailand shop, an authorized dealer, on Shopee. So far they have not replied to my chat requests for help. Along with a help line for this equipment, can you explain how the Imii, Xiaomi etc. etc. organizations work, or don't work together please? It seems like they are the same company except when they are not. (there are little green foxhead icon on some items). Thanks in advance to any help.😵‍💫🙏

Thank you very much for comments. I did find a local shop who installed win 11 for me and I lost the files on the computer. Not so bad as important stuff is on Drive or Photos in a cloud. Still, not accepting a password, then changing it, then some parts of the system don't seem to get the new password so the whole recovery process starts again. This 2 stage verification is good if it is a phone number or email, but using a number generating app has not worked with FaceBook. I have only partially recovered that account and cannot be bothered any more. My facebook was hacked and in my misguided efforts to recover my FB account I have done something to windows 11 that makes a 'normal' windows recovery not work. (FB is still not right but I have given up for now) On the final screen there is an option to reinstall windows with or without apps and data removed. This is after the auto repair in all its variations have been exhausted. I imagine wifi is not connected and don't know if that has affected the repair and/or the reinstall option. There is no usb boot available and my efforts to enable it have failed (numerous YT methods tried). I could buy a code for win 11 from Lazada for <500B but don't know how I could install it w/o functioning wifi or usb. I live in rural Buriram Province, Isaan btw so IT shops are a rarity here. I am going to start using one card with a low limit and keep the balance on that account low too. Lazada and shopee used to have 2 factor id but it seems to have stopped.
