There is a method used to confuse and misdirect the public which is to flood the media with information of all kinds. True, false, outrageous, impossible, ridiculous and more it matters not. False information gets repeated and distorted and believed by people who have a vote. MJ Green has claimed that the government controls the weather and were sending to Republican areas of Florida. Trump said Haitians are eating dogs. For example. Both ridiculous but both have had serous consequences. Trump is already planning an insurrection and the vote numbers will not change that (unless he wins). The US is not our friend. America first is and always has been their motive. Never forget.ππΌ

Thanks Wiil B Good. I'll check at the bank about reducing the limit. Who is that monster in your picture window? If it is a joke this subscriber doesn't get it. Sorry, but this man will destroy the world given the chance and a bunch of inbred hillbillies might just give him the opportunity. The fate of the world may rest in the hands of a collection of US high school dropouts who have not travelled much beyond the end of their driveway. The man has been described as the biggest threat to world security; coming from the country that has been constantly at war since its conception. War is when the rich and powerful send the poor to defend their honour, or some such obscure reason. PeaceππΌ

1610 2024 I just got back from France where I experienced the growth of payment by contact with a card reader w/o the need for a pin, except occasionally. It happens here too but I did not realize it until my trip there. I have been walking around with lots of debit/credit cards in my pocket which, if lost, could bankrupt me.(!!!) I went to one of the banks here and asked if I could make my cards require 2 x confirmation by text or email and they said no, cannot. Is this true? I didn't press them at the bank about this as I have occasionally found bank employees not well versed in answers to unusual questions. I have 3 banks, not because I have lots of money; living in a rural community means a local bank, a main BKK city bank and one more for some forgotten reason. They all function equally well (or other) and I have thought that a solution could be to use one card only for purchases in person or online. Then just transfer only enough funds to cover purchases as they are made or anticipated. Leaving all other cards in a safe place at home. I bought a card holder wallet with a neck cord in France and that is where my cards live now, safe(ish) from lost. Any ideas about insisting on a 2 factor ID from a Thai Bank? I have not enquired beyond asking one bank so there may be a simple solution; hope so. I have been caught up with an authenticator (google) app that issues codes that are not accepted so that is not a good solution for me just now. Any comment very welcome, thankyouverymuch.π€―ππΌ

ADHD? Here is a TEDx talk by a young woman who was diagnosed adhd and how she is coping with it. This vid is about 6 years old and is still very relevant. She has published a book by the same title and has many many YouTube videos. Help is on the way. 'Official' estimates in the west have around 12% of children affected by this condition. Some experts (physicians, neurologist, physiologists etc.), however, suggest that as many of 50% of adults may have this condition in the west but have adapted or masked some symptoms. For you clowns who want to dwell on prescribed 'speed' please inform yourselves about this condition and its remedies. Ignorance is boring and offensive. Goodmorning Sheryl, Thank you. Do you know of any groups or organizations that address adhd here in Thailand? Canada has taken adhd seriously and there are many such groups there. Advice on purchase of older toyota/isusu 4x4 2 door pickup

07 10 2024 My Niece has several months off school and it looks like she will spend the whole time in front of the tv or glued to her phone. She is healthy and does ok at school but is a big zero re other activities. Her elder sister just graduated from nursing college and I would do the same for 'Jam' if she keeps her grades up. Is there anything the we could do to encourage her to do something, anything that is other than zoning out of real life on the net. If there was some kind of sport club or camp she could go to I would pay for it or other activities that could tempt her out of the Net. Any ideas please? Free activities or paid clubs or ? This is not just for now; it would be good to introduce her to other ideas and activities for life that will remain with her for life. (Her mother, very nice and hard working, will not force her to do do anything) Thanks very muchππΌ

Thanks for your comment IsaanExpat. I am in the northern tip of Buriram province and the patois here is the Laos/Thai variety whereas in Buriram town, 90 km south, it is Kimir/Thai. I will continue and try what suggest. I just went to France for a month and spoke bad French the whole time. I have not spoken French for 10 years. It has encouraged me to try a little harder with Thai even with Executive Function problems. Are you in the US now? Thanks again for your interest.ππΌ

Advice on purchase of older toyota/isusu 4x4 2 door pickup
notrub replied to notrub's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Thanks Steve, Yes, I thought a 2 door (or any) pickups with auto would be rare but, if you don't ask you don't get, as a tenant once said to me a long time ago. My mechanical skills are advanced enough to know my limitations and keep away from the areas that require professional attention. Replacing drive trains, springs, brakes and other bolt on stuff is ok but engine insides I leave to the professionals. I would be willing to buy a truck without a certificate and carry out repairs here at home if anybody you know has one. I don't mind about receipts; a truck used locally for normal small pickup work will be evident by its condition (I think). Thanks for your comment. -
03 10 2024, I would like to buy an older Toyota, or similar, 4x4, 2 door pickup (that has been little used by one careful owner 555) and am seeking advice on the best make and model year please. Is there a best make, model, year that I should be looking for and also what to avoid please? It appears that high milage pickups that are just standard are being offered at 100-130k while the tricked out units are really silly prices. I would like a standard truck to keep and use locally on the farm for a long time. Anybody got an ok one for sale? I m in Buriram Province but would travel for a reasonably priced example (auto if pos). Thanks in advance for any commentsππΌ

Travel to France this month, airlines and parking
notrub replied to notrub's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
n2022, no, I use skyscanner and didn't feel like experimenting. My daughter came here to Phuket on a Chinese airline and said it was ok. The cheap tickets are around 888β¬ return to Lyon ~ 15-20hr+++ by most airlines. I hate the check in, I hate the security garbage and i fugging hate flying now too. It used to be fun. thanks. -
I have adhd which interferes with working memory, apparently making the journey from 'just now' into long term remembering difficult/impossible. I have always accepted that this inability, along with other characteristics such as laziness, were a personality disorder that I should be ashamed of. This led to a feeling of inadequacy and low self esteem. I have been living with this for my entire life, in spite of the fact that I have worked hard and been a self made (muti)millionaire 2 times (in β¬ and Β£) and have had it stolen from me 2 times (I must have deserved it; said his anxiety ridden self at the time). I only learned of this condition fairly recently and now am just finding out how it affects those who have it. Me, one among many millions, for a start. There are many who applaud the 'thinking outside the box' elements of this condition (see above), which is a biological neurological condition, not mental illness. It affects the stupid and the bright without distinction, apparently. There seems to be a stigma attached to this condition as can be demonstrated by the often used; "He/she are off there meds" spoken in the most denigrating way. That I have Adhd was unknown to me during all my life including over 30 years in France. Despite my sincere efforts to learn the language, I can only (almost) converse easily about only a number of limited subjects such as construction, skiing, cars, machinery repair, holidays and general conversation, for example. I can barely read French even though we share a common alphabet and many words are common. I could never discuss philosophy or the physiological, neurological conditions such as the one that I am blessed with. I like language and very much enjoy writing, reading and speaking correctly. Here in Thailand my lack of success learning a language (this time Thai) continued is spite of the fact that I have been sincerely trying here for ~10 years. I am motivated and frustrated by my failure to speak Thai in spite of these efforts. I took classes last year for months and months filling notebooks and translations with little success. I live in a rural community and am immersed in Thai every day all day but it is just not happening. Admittedly the language in my village is a patois of Thai Laos but that is just a complication and not the root cause. The words and phrases are hiding there in my mind somewhere and when I do manage to speak, others (Thai), comment that my pronunciation is good. Some say with a big smile "oh, so you can speak Thai, why do you say that you cannot"? Well, I cannot and I am ashamed. I have travelled extensively and am an avid learner of customs and techniques and I am a teacher of things that I have learned (use of tools, building designs and techniques for example). I love it. It is killing me to be here and to be so isolated because I just have not been able to learn to speak Thai. I am kind, generous with my smiles and the chaao-baan clearly like me; they have accepted me as I am. I cannot accept my inability to communicate with them, however, and must learn to speak Thai. All these various posts about learning to speak Thai simply do not work with me. An inability to organize is another little problem with adhd; my notebooks are a shambles and almost useless as tools to study. I just started writing out long paragraphs in Thai and I can read them out loud with (it seems) an acceptable tonal accent. Pom sa maat pud passat Thai dai nidnoi, dtee muua-rai pa ya yam pud, pom bpra maa le, Pom luum tuk sing. krap. (english keyboard, sorry) What I am looking for is some kind of system that is well organized so I have a learning / study process that I can follow and use daily. Including instructions to go out and speak Thai for an hour, for example. With this Attention Disorder I am not one who could promise to sit still and just look at a page and expect information to arrive in my brain. That I can write out paragraphs in Thai speaks for what happens when I feel a solution is at hand and I am focused (really focused) esp. when physical activity is included (in this case, writing). Is anyone aware of any method of learning Thai Language (or learning anything) that has been developed, taking into account working memory problems, for those who have adhd Please? I already have many 'Teach yourself Thai' books that have failed to make it into my brain. I am open to an immersion course if there are any that have an awareness of adhd. [Not too expensive please as I have lost all my money. Twice! (The first was a friend/partner-who would think?... and my ex wife took almost all of the second).π₯] Any comments and/or suggestions will be gratefully received. Also, I have been learning quite a lot about this condition and would be happy to share with any who are interested. Huberman's Lab (YT and a blog-spotify works) is a good source of information about biological, neurological functioning of our body. He has many expert guests and there are hundreds of interesting videos and talks about the body and mind. This Ted Talk may be of interest to some is https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+adhd+ted+talk If there are any organizations here in Thailand concerned with ADHD I would be grateful to learn of them please. These do exist in Canada and Sweden that I know of and there are international ones too. There is training available in some countries to become an ADHD coach with the aim to help others. I am just beginning to learn about this. Thanks very much for your interestπ€―ππΌππ€―

Travel to France this month, airlines and parking
notrub replied to notrub's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Ahhh! Thank you very much upandover. Does this online checking take place just a number of hours b4 the flight? Sorry to be so lazy but could you explin how it works please and can one check in on the second leg too? Flying has chnged a lot since one wore a tie (men) and we walked out onto the tarmac and waved goodbye to friends standing in the terminal doorway. A non smoker now, but I can remember when you could smoke in your seat and then it changed to standing around the toilet poisoning the air. How awful. Thanks a lotπππΌ -
Travel to France this month, airlines and parking

Thanks Upnotover, that is what I think too but with Emerates it seems that free seat selection does not exist in tourist, or whatever they call it these days. I object to being ripped off to the tune of about 50β¬ in each direction. It would be especially galling to pay and get on the flight to find it 1/2 empty, as sometimes happens. ππΌ -
Travel to France this month, airlines and parking
notrub replied to notrub's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Thank you for your comments tgw and rs237. I have booked Emerates as most others arrive after car hire desks are closed (check in 0300hrs). Here is another question; about paying for seat choice. Emerates want about 20β¬+++ per leg to 'select' an ordinary seat. Is this a threat to put a person in the middle of a 5 seat arrangement if they don't pay? I need to pee often at inconveient intervals and really need an aisle seat. I see that almost the entire encomy section is open to select. Do you think that they will they give me an aisle seat if I explain about my problem? Thanks for your thoughts. ππΌ PS Found nearby hotel ~500baht / night and 50baht/day parking for the month btw. -
03 07 2024, Planning a trip to France and I see air fairs are and time not too bad even with the high season and the Olympics too (not going for that). Is there much to choose from between Emirates, Qatar, Lufthansa, KLM these days? Do some have more leg room and better food? I know that I asked b4 but ideas about low cost parking in Krung Tep for a month please? Parking with 24 hr access (or not) anywhere on the AP train line would be good too. Thanks very muchππΌ

Dentist in Buriram/Korat to improve Denture fitting /do implants
notrub replied to notrub's topic in Health and Medicine
Sure, details below. The reception part of this practice is Thai or Kimir only although Mr. Denist is english fluent as is Mrs. Dentist who shares the practice. Note this: They are open weekdays in the evening and weekends 9 to 4(?) i forget. It is first come first serve as you may have become used to here in Thailand. Even for what I thought to be quite big work. I had an implant done in France and the dentist had reserved an afternoon to install the stainless implant and take a cast for the crown and create a false front tooth. I forget how much but could have been 10,000 β¬ ?, Mr D. prepared my lower jaw and installed 2 implants in as many hours, or less. He said that if a bone graft is required they would do that at the same time too. He is friendly, if not a bit brusk. He is lazer focused on his work. Don't be shy about getting another numbing shot and bring your lip salve as the patient's comfort is second to his access to the site. I have had 6 or 7 implants and have zero complaints. If you don't speak Thai don't go there first time w/o a friend who can. Reception are very nice but it is difficult for them if you cannot speak a language that they understand. Good luckππΌ -
Dentist in Buriram/Korat to improve Denture fitting /do implants

Thanks Sheryl, No Khong Kean is not too far. I will yake a look at KKU. Thanks againππΌ -
My mouth is a mixed up mess of unhappy teeth. A long history of bad fillings, multiple caps/crowns to correct bite, extraction due to infection and more leading to multiple implants, partial lower denture and full arch upper. The older work is decades old with most implants and dentures were done here in Thailand. The implants here were done well and not too costly compared to France. I decided on a full arch upper denture because implants would have required a bone graft. I have about 6 implants for molars but the front teeth crowns (3 so far) are failing after only 35+ years(expected 10 to 20)! The guy who did my implants in Buriram is the Implant King. Fast and good price. Between 25 and 50,000 THB depending on source of stainless material. Korea and Taiwan being cheaper than French and Swiss, for example. But, this dentist fitted me with dentures that were not good 2 or 3x and I now realise that dentures must be cosmetic and functional for both eating and speaking. The latter is a problem for me as my tongue is now crowded into a too fat plastic pallet which I can mostly compensate for with my native language but when speaking unfamiliar Thai (regards a tongue position in the mouth) my tongue is lost. The implant dentist is not really interested in dentures. I am looking for a dental practice that can provide the most modern version of upper dentures without implants and also options with implants. And being able and interested to advise me on what to do with my lower jaw utilising existing implants only and also options with 1 or 2 extra implants. Or just a partial modern denture not utilising lower jaw implants. Advice given with my best interests in mind, not their bottom line. Any ideas please? I am now an experienced implant person and am happy with the results. It is a long process, however, and solutions that do not require further implants would be very nice. I live 90km north of Buriram town and would prefer a practice up here in Isaan, as opposed to Krung Tep or Chang Mai, if possible. Korat could be ok. If there is a dental chain that specializes in dentures that could be good but really I would like to find that special dentist who cares, is knowledgeable and is extra competent. Kind of like the Implant King but with denture expertise. Reasonable price too please (I have no insurance). You comments will be gratefully received.ππΌ

I am new at understanding all the varieties of weed that are available these days. When I began smoking weed all those years ago it was just leaf and occasionally St. Semillion or Thai Sticks would appear. Now I am experimenting with sativa, indica content and THC strength too. So, I am buying 5 or 10g from various suppliers trying to stick to the 30-50 baht per gram level of prices. I have ordered from several suppliers and all the little bags that arrive are identical physically and are all marked as shown above. These ID letter sequences seem to be identical from different suppliers whatever the name might of the product might be (i think?). So, are there some few big producers growing and harvesting enormous quantities of all varieties of weed? Do they then harvest and wholesale them on to the various resellers who rebag (or not) and sell on to us, the end user? If so, all theses resellers are offering the same product at the same prices so the only difference will be how well the reseller does their job, correct? Who is it that determines the various content levels of the different strains? If it is some large organization that is testing all their products one would have good reason to trust the results (?) but if it is some storefront reseller doing it who controls the quality of the tests? Also, is the current level of (fresh) variety and (i think) ok prices a result of it being harvest time? Will the 50b/gram ok weed disappear? Are there suppliers offering even lower prices of ok weed? I am not a person who encourages businesses to operate at a loss but if, a supplier has a lower cost and will pass that on it is ok for me. This ought to be of interest to one or two of my fellow indulgers and will welcome your comments.πππΌ
