  1. This is the source of A's problems. He's a kid who has fallen through the cracks, is desperate for a father figure and has fallen in with a bad crowd as a result. You would think that he might have some sort of relationship with a male teacher and actually want to go to school. I wouldn't be surprised if his "friends" were older than him and simply want to mess his life up because they can. (Also he's under age so any weed he buys is illegal weed anyway.)
  2. She'd already picked at her pimples and plucked a few grey hairs. Why would she need a mirror?
  3. Sounds like some extra fees due to being Western. Sad, but I guess they're making up for lost time. Thai people seem to follow the model of "fewer customers means put the price up". They're just not familiar with the concept of competition, as everything is kind of "mafia" controlled in Thailand with fixed prices.
  4. Indeed. If there's one thing we need to remember as Thailand moves towards being an open and progressive democracy, it's to keep them dirty, stinking foreigners where they belong, under the feet of the pure and good Thais.
  5. Quite. Thai police normally follow the Thai custom of avoiding doing anything that might make anyone angry with you very strictly.
  6. Thai people: We want police reform, we want them to do their job, to act professionally and to protect people. Also Thai people: We want the police to follow Thai culture and spend days "negotiating" with suspects and never harm them. ????
  7. "I oversaw the whole building project from start to finish. I even helped with some of the land clearance. I deserve to be compensated for my time."
  8. I thought the same thing. "[L]iving without a care....until immigration came calling" has shades of America's Wildest Police Chases or something.
  9. I wonder how he was able to carry an unconscious woman from a restaurant to a hotel room without anyone seeing... ????
  10. It's a weird one alright. It sounds like perhaps they're just parroting Western activist talking points to try and get what they want, TBH. Most people will always look down prostitutes to some degree, because they're... prostitutes. There's a decent argument for it to be legal. "Two consenting adults", etc.. But no one is going to hope that their little girls grow up to be hookers rather than Doctors. It just isn't healthy, physically and mentally. The difference with Thailand is that people generally don't care what other people do (good or bad) if it doesn't effect them.
  11. Shouldn't really use this term as it's kind of negative. I don't think anyone would blame someone who is trying to avoid being conscripted and sent to die in an illegal war.
  12. You're forgetting what country it is being discussed. It's all theatrics. TiT.
  13. I wonder what would have happened if they did the same thing in Thailand.
  14. And you feel the Monster Raving Loony Party is the English equivalent of Thai Rak Thai?
  15. It's a PR exercise. Foreigners are bad, worse than Thais, dangerous so be careful, etc.. It all started when Thailand opened up to tourism again. I think probably the clear reliance on tourism highlighted by the Thai economic performance during covid has led to a bit of bitterness and a resulting backlash.
  16. Does anyone else imagine what it would be like if there was a similar naming trend in their home countries as there is in Thailand? I can't imagine that the "English love English" party would get a positive reaction in England. Nor would an "English people fight Covid" slogan during the peak of the pandemic. I think people would, quite rightly, point out that it was pretty xenophobic and offensive to non-English people living in the country.
  17. How do the senior police get implicated? Do the people who have been arrested name them, or do they have records with their names on?
  18. I'm no expert, but it sounds like falling from the balcony the primary cause.
  19. The condition that some soi dogs are in is shocking. It's almost cruel when people obviously give them just enough scraps to be kept clinging to life, while they are emaciated, with no hair, and covered in some kind of nasty infection.
  20. The OP was, sure, but the person I responded to appears to be talking about dogs generally.
  21. Anything other than a complete non-intervention policy could be disastrous. Many bad things have happened throughout history, but trying to fix them, stopping Hitler for example, might cause something far worse to happen. In a kind of drone without any physical presence that can travel anywhere at any time type of situation, that could be interesting. I suspect that with the religion thing though, we would simply see a bunch of people making up the religion. But I doubt anyone would believe it.
  22. These people basically mean a select group of old fashioned, traditional and probably hiso girls who they want to pretend are representative of "Thai people". That is the ideal Thailand that they want to imagine is the "real Thailand", with everything else ignored. There are going to be women like that, but I doubt they are in the majority (based on how wealth is distributed within Thailand).
