  1. Topic 2 is visa agencies which are literally corruption. Topic 1 could be considered to be linked to Thai corruption as the over active bureaucracy is a feature of it.
  2. They're full of the joys of communism. You can detect a real grey soviet misery.
  3. If someone has a real problem with corruption, why would they choose Thailand as their country of interest?
  4. But instead, they choose to try and make things more expensive and laborious, believing that it will make more people want to visit. I think the problem might be that some Thais make the mistake of believing their own face-giving nonsense and think the world will as well. I suppose it's possible that Thailand has actually never found itself in the position where it needed to work to attract tourist. It's never had to before, it has simply enjoyed a constant supply of tourists coming to party and go to the beach, while droning on about how they're going to change it all and attract high-quality tourists to their family friendly resorts. Now the sh*t's hit the fan and all they have to work with is their cockamamy schemes that only serve to pretend that Thailand is something that it is not, and those just aren't going to cut it. They need to admit that they made their fortune on the back of alcohol, prostitutes and cheap beach holidays, then go back to doing that.
  5. That's a heck of a series of events. I wonder how he was able to be trapped, rescued, died of drowning and then injured as well. The truth is that he was injured in the crash, trapped in his car, he drowned, then the rescue services recovered his body.
  6. Either it's the driver's fault, or he is too visually impaired to be driving and therefore it is his fault. It's his fault.
  7. Why didn't he play this card when he was imprisoned and deported?
  8. It's happened before. Kid falls asleep then never wakes up.
  9. Which is it? He hit her head on or she collided with him?
  10. @brewsterbudgen, how do think that I am doing that? I haven't said anything close to that.
  11. I was looking for a source on "It is a proven fact that physical punishment does not improve learning outcomes". What you have quoted not only doesn't support that, but it sounds like it is talking about parents physically punishing their children. So, any source on the original claim?
  12. Cognitive dissonance. There're people in this thread who are pretty much saying that the guy started everything and completely deserved it. You can even infer that their thought process is "Thais are all perfect, and if they did this they must have been made to do it by the foreign man, therefore the foreign man must have done something awful that forced the Thais to attack him, and he deserved it". The idea that there might be some bad Thai men looking for an excuse to attack a foreign man just isn't allowed to exist in their minds as it would challenge their essential belief that Thais are perfect and (other) foreigners are bad.
  13. Because no Thai person would ever attack a foreign tourist unless that tourist was really out of order and deserved it? What do you make of the countless times that a Thai person has attacked a foreign tourist that wasn't out of order and didn't deserve it? It's quite amazing what your hatred of other foreigners does to your mind.
  14. The title says that a male foreign tourist was attacked. How is that not the case? The title doesn't say that he was attacked because of his nationality or gender. Your deranged need to find a way to make Thais 100% innocent 100% of the time causes you to come out with some truly insane comments.
  15. I'm sure it might seem that way sometimes, but the authorities take a fair amount of notice of public opinion in Thailand.
  16. This just isn't true at all.
  17. prostitution is mentally harmful (or a symptom of mental harm) and likely the women would not do it if they did not need the money. It's quite likely that they feel obligated to do it to support their parents. It's also going to be harmful to the kids of the prostitute.
  18. They're doing what the public want them to do. They applaud giving kids jumping jacks and press-ups instead of fines and motorcycle confiscation. If they started arresting kids and parents and crushing their bikes, the public would soon kick up a fuss and say it's too harsh.
  19. Could also do something about the Thai culture of it being considered normal to drive dangerously at high speed because it is fun. This would mean some serious education, attitude adjustment and learning that consequences have actions. I'm not sure if any of this is compatible with Thai culture, but it would certainly make the roads safer.
  20. Those poor 50 and 60 year olds whose bodies would be perfect, if it weren't for the faded patches of ink on their upper arms...
