  1. From my observation, the Click is, by a good margin, the most popular scooter on Thailand's roads.

They must be doing something right.

In my neck of the woods it goes something like this:

    Click 50%
    Wave 30%
    PCX. 10%

The remaining 10% made up of Scoopi, Fino, Cub and the rest minus Aerox !!

For the last 2 days ( when I started paying attention ) have not seen 1 Aerox !!

Strange as it seems like a good machine !
  2. Trying to help people who are unsuccessful at Transport office with Thai licences.
The IDP is a great option.

Would be interesting to know how people are unsuccessful at obtaining Thai license.

I came to Thailand with a UK driving license and an IDP, was stopped and asked to produce my DL several times but never asked for the IDP.
I was under the impression that my IDP was valid for 12 months but a few threads on here mentioned 90 days only so I got a Thai license.

I produced my valid Uk DL and IDP on obtaining Thai license, the IDP was ignored and stated not necessary as my DL was in English language.
  3. The street market near my house is a nightmare in early evening both sides of the road due to parked cars !!

The police had a crackdown, pushed the stalls that had been steadily encroaching into the road back and set up parking cones .

The cones disappeared gradually in about 2 weeks !

Ironically there is a car park at the back specifically for the market but it remains empty as they charge 10 baht !! ?

All in all Thailand isn't that bad if one just plans ahead and you come off your wallet to have an official get your docs from the bottom to the top of the stack.

Gotta agree with you about Brazil, waited a year and 3 months for my ID card to be ready ( used a protocol in the meantime). Then another 10 months on the 10 year renewal !!

Glad to be out of that place !!
  5. My fluorescents are really annoying and I would like to change them out , especially in the 3rd bedroom that has my tools etc, I can be almost in and out before it stops flickering !

Is Home Mall a chain or just in Chiang Mai ?

Plus, just checked my spare unit ( put ceiling fan in its place) and it’s a 32W lamp with a 32W Ballast, why would this be so different to your 12W ballast ?IMG_4466.JPG

  6. Thanks for that info, Andrew. Save me even thinking about trying. As for postal application...well, my nearest PO is still just a 2 minute walk from Immigration, so not worth the effort.

I considered postal application briefly but like you said, not worth the effort , Ayutthaya is rarely busy, except when a boatload of Chinese monks turn up ! ( happened to me )

At my previous IO ( Pathum Thani ) all that was required for 90 day report was your pp and TM 47. Tried this at Ayutthaya, a young girl sitting next to the old battle axe at front desk whisked my pp away, made 4 copies and charged me 20 baht .
When I got my number I was 12 and they were attending number 10 , so all over in a flash.
She printed out a new TM47 , stapled the receipt in my pp, stapled the rest onto my pile of copies ( that she never even looked at ) and pushed it to one side ready for the landfill [emoji51].

All done very neatly and quickly.

  8. I feel like starting a new thread about tire pressure, motor oil or the fine points of air conditioner service...

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

There was a thread recently that developed into an argument about checking tire pressures when hot as opposed to checking when cold!!
After about 2 pages of bickering I unfollowed it.

Can’t remember what the thread was about originally but it certainly wasn’t tire pressures [emoji23]

  9. The problem being that the Thai celery market has been under the control of high ranking officers for some time.

I should know as I have lived here for 30 years, know Thai,Khmer,Swahili and Lilliputian and live in a 'uge mansion with a gorgeous hiso wife who loves me to death...

Is that the sort of digression that you may be referring to,Andrew?

    Exactly Ody !!

Sometimes the posters desires to make others aware that they have been here a long long time, speak Thai better than most Thai’s and are experts on every subject under the sun makes them unaware that the thread they are posting in is about the price of fish or some other mundane subject !!
