  1. There is a number of film and rock stars that have kept their natural hair colour when older, there is also a huge number that want to go to the hairdressers every couple of days to colour their roots after dying their hair.  They have the time and money to keep it up.

But I reckon every aging Thai bloke I know except one does the black rinse thing, the white root brigade, seems here it is quite normal stuff. But then I have never seen natural colour dyed hair on a farang, just sticks out a mile, together with the white roots. Old farangs forget that seldom does a young mans hair colour job ever match the age of their face. And as for wigs.....Crazy stuff....

I saw a pic the other day on FB of a Thai lady with her farang bloke, he must have been about 70, he had a rug on his head that had more pile than an Axminster carpet and had a totally unnatural colour..Now surely this bloke must look in the mirror and see there is something wrong..

I always figured " if Elton John , with all his money, can't afford a decent syrup , then I sure as hell can't "

Of course there may be guys out there with really good wigs and we don't know it ...................[emoji848]

    But I think not !

  2. just saw this recipe today:

    http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/perfect-chicken-balti/

maybe not convenient for those that have no access to the indicated spices, cardamon, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, etc...I had brought these back with me almost a year ago from saudi, now almost past their sell by date...makro has got most of the stuff, good to check out as when you got the stuff at hand it broadens yer horizon significantly...

today reverted back to moong dahl and chapattis...I had forgotten how good they taste...chicken balti comin' up...

anybody remember 20 years ago when indian balti was the latest UK food fad? balti houses springing up all over the place, especially in Birmingham...

I'm from inbetween Leeds and Bradford so Indian food was a staple !
It was a standing joke that when you were away from home for a while you would ring up and say:
" can't wait to get back home to some Yorkshire cooking "
and the answer as always was:
" how many chapattis will you want with that " ? [emoji3]

But the best Indian I had recently, was a couple of years ago just outside Brisbane, called The British Balti ( or something like that ) run by people from the UK, Indians of course !!

  4. To get back to the OP's question 12 pages back.

I wanted a yellow book, so we went to the District office for Khlong Sam Wa. They too were most pleasant and demanded all the translated and certified documents previously mentioned, they were a total pain and it cost a fortune but I needed the docs for an extension of stay anyway.

As a UK citizen married to a Thai girl in the UK I had to get:

My birth certificate Apostille stamped by the Royal Thai Embassy.
    The Marriage certificate ditto
My passport copied and certified by the British Embassy in Bangkok.

All pages of my passport photocopied, translated, legalised including incredibly the Thai Embassy Multiple Entry Visa.

Then I had to get ALL of those translated, and then legalised by the MFA (that in itself was an exercise) and photo-copied.
I did lovely colour scans, they insisted black and white done on an old copier outside at 10 baht a sheet - smudged and illegible they were nevertheless acceptable over my perfect high resolution colour scan copies.

Then they insisted on me employing a certified interpreter to attend a meeting as I don't speak Thai. My wife's English was better but, not acceptable as she might be scamming me!

Finally, after walking out in disgust at one point, I told them bluntly in English that they were taking the piss and that I would go to the Ombudsman I was so angry, a date was set for the Yellow book - took a few weeks and loads of visits and we did the marriage Registration and my wife's change of blue book name and new ID card at the same time.

Then they had the Office No2 and No, 1 bosses interview me, asking loads of questions until they had nothing else to think of.

They made a public handing over ceremony with the yellow book, appears they gave me the first one, and this is just up the road from Bangkok! The top official insisted on being photographed with me as though he had done anything - which he had not.

The pink ID card took minutes only after all that although they discovered some anomaly in paperwork, a mistake THEY had made which involved loads more photocopying by them and paper signing by me - I have no idea what it was all about. I got the pink card. .

So I can testify that they made it all very difficult and expensive BUT all the papers I got legalised I use every year for extension of stay so actually nothing was wasted, they just demanded them for the wrong thing although my wife managed to change her name and ID along the way so possibly that might explain the Apostille docs translated and legalised.

I just followed herself's orders, sign here she tells me so I did, repeatedly.

Wow, I think you have more patience than me !

But, congratulations on not letting the beggars grind you down .
  5. Load in some good covert surveillance software in (your) the computer and when she is not around, that later enables you to check all the website logs and the copies of what she was writing and to whom....

Just some friendly, routine advice to be 100% sure, and with full respect to Madame your Wife!

A bit of controversy about this post !

But I will say that a friend of mine ( yes a friend, not me ) suspected his wife, fit some surveillance stuff and caught her red handed talking ( explicitly ) to a few guys online. When confronted she up and left, divorce followed shortly after.

So, fitting some of this type of software can help but has to be a last resort, you have to be 90% sure beforehand.
I think I would have asked her several times outright before resorting to this.
  6. Correct: lazy I guess. Oops...  However, I wanted to guess, not cheat and find the answer first.  Hey, I'm honest.

Sure, no offence intended with my reply, just my sarcastic sense of humour .

I wanted to supply the house number and let people mark on the photo which is my house, like from the postman point of view. But this way was easier.

See many delivery guys cruising up and down the sois looking confused [emoji3]
  7. It took me all of 2 days to secure my yellow book.  I changed address and the procedure was just as easy, acouple of days.

You were one of the lucky ones or should I say chosen ones [emoji51]

The stories about obtaining the yellow book are numerous as are the different procedures for obtaining said document.

I, unfortunately, am sh1t out of luck in that department and feel that I probably have more chance of winning the lottery ( or being able to do a 90 day report online ) than obtaining one [emoji20]

  8. I moved house ( and province) a few days ago and went to the immigration ( Ayutthaya ) to present TM30 and TM28.

TM 30 went okay, I had all the right docs: copies of passport, house masters blue book and id, got receipt stapled in passport.

The TM28: she said, bring back on 90 days report.

My next 90 day is 19 September but I tried to explain that I will likely go out of the country this month and again in mid October for a month.

So, my next 90 day report at the earliest will be mid to late Feb, 7 months from now.

    So my question is:

Is the TM28 going out of fashion and they're relying more on TM30 for foreigners residence address, or should I go to immigration and try and file TM28 in a couple of weeks or so ??
