A real tourist visa can be obtained in Penang but you require a ticket out of Thailand and proof of accommodations. KL would be better if has been in area for an extended time. Vientiane is currently the best location.

Thanks, they have their tickets out of Thailand and have my address here in Thailand. How long is a tourist visa?? 2 or 3 months?? i don't have a clue..

I think they want to see hotel reservations.

Your address will not do.

But then again, maybe they keep track of things just via name and birthdate and do not pay attention to what country the passport is from.

Perhaps they do that, a friend of mine made a new passport when back in his homecountry.

Normally, the Immigration will extend your Tourist visa once again for an additional 10 days. Fee 1,900 baht.

As I said in a previous post I have actually booked the ferry by phone whilst driving down from Bangkok on the same day, however some posters are still insisting it is a week in advance so I have just telephoned seatran and had it confirmed that you can book up to 3 hours before the due ferry. If anyone else wants to argue this point further then the seatran number is 077-251-555, and I suggest you check first.

Be aware that there are only a fixed number on each ferry that can be booked.

One time I called seatran for getting a booked ticket at 12.00 ferry, 3 hours before.

All the pre-booked spots on every ferry that day was already booked.

Ended up waiting 5 hours in Donsak.

Wp 3 receipt is not a work permit, it is a acknowledgement receipt from the Labour Office that you have lodged an application for work permit.

How can you apply for a work permit BEFORE having the Non "B" Visa in your passport??

No problem, I applied for my WP over two years ago.

Came here on visa exempt stamp and applied for WP.

Got my WP3 and went to Penang and got my single entry Non-B for three months.

Now you send your copy of your Non-B visa to labour office.

When you get your WP, go down to Penang one more time for your 1-year Non-B.

This has been enforced for two and half years now.

You have work permit, if not forget it.
