  1. My friend is on a retirement visa, he is 52 years. He has been offered a teaching position ( he is fully qualified) and will accept the job. He needs to change visa, I think it's a B that he needs. can he do this without leaving the country and what does he need to do to change the visa. Many thanks
  2. In answer to your question Claysmc, It is because I am 72 years old, if the rules should change to include "O" visa applicants needing Insurance I would not be able to get coverage due to my age. I have thought about making the change but it's not worth the risk.
  3. The incorrect amount was provided to me by my current Insurance company. Anyhow, thank you for the info.
  4. The current extension of stay finishes on the 4th June 2022.
  5. I am just about to apply for a yearly extension for my OA Visa (based on retirement) And I have been advised that the Health Insurance requirement is now 3.500.000 for inpatient and 60,000 for outpatient, can anyone advise if this is correct. I am asking here as it is a long trip to immigration and I am hoping to sort this out today. Many thanks
  6. Please be aware not all (if any) big cats in Thailand are drugged, I got bitten by a lion at a Safari Park. Just a word of advice, when bitten don't try to pull your arm or whatever part of you it has hold of away, because their teeth are like scalpels and it makes it a lot worse.
  7. What really concerns me about chemical castration or the death penalty for that matter is "have they got the right offender? because if they haven't, well use your own imagination. Over the years there have been an unbelieveable amount of people, primarily jailed for offences they never committed and many even put to death, and we have seen how that works in Thailand haven't we.
  8. Never thought about replacing them, they are not used a great deal and are working perfectly, if there is a power saving, and I am not convinced there is, it would be neither here nor there in the scheme of things. Think of it this way, it's like changing partners, why bother when the old one is working well.
  9. I have a total of 16 air conditioners, all are Panasonic, As follows 4 x 19 years old, 4 x 14 years old, 5 x 13 years old and 3 x 9 years old, apart from having to regas a few of the ones used the most, they have not had to have any repairs, and they all run as quietly as the day they were installed. Would I recommend Panasonic? of course.
  10. I shall be very happy when it warms up a bit, I am still wearing a light jacket at night and sleeping with a blanket and this is Kanchanaburi. Anything under 35c is cool for me.
  11. Don't talk about it, get started, It might be easier to start with e books.
  12. If you live or are anywhere near Kanchanaburi I am happy to point you in the right direction, about 10 minutes from Big C.
  13. All the guys in my family go to the Barber and it's 60 Baht each to get a haircut, where do you live that you pay more.
  14. I'm more concerned about the long term effects of the vaccines, as a prominent French nobel prize winner said, it will turn out to be the worlds largest ever medical experiment.
  15. Having just read the original post, all I see is an embittered old man having a rant. Sure it was quiet this year, maybe the Covid situation has bought that about, why does everything come back to "they hate us" and/or the 90 day report. I have been here a good while longer than you, stop fighting everything, learn that adapting will not kill you. it's a small thing, how is being quiet affecting your lifestyle, at least you didn't get to dope the dogs. Sadly for people with your mind set it may be time to move on, as nothing here seems to suit you. Sad
  16. To really get to know Scotland and the Scots people you have to spend some time there. Perhaps the most beautiful country on earth, people who are genuine and friendly, I have lived in England, Australia and Thailand but the only place I have ever felt at home was when visiting Scotland, so at home in fact that my 3 week holiday turned into 11 months. I should never have left.
  17. I remember not too long ago coriander shot up to 240 per kg. Extended family thought they would get on the band wagon, paid for a tractor to plough the land and then paid labour to put in 5 Rai of Coriander. By the time it was ready for picking the price had dropped back to pre price hike. and the whole exercise had actually cost them money.
  18. I don't have a smart phone and I manage just fine.
  19. You will not be forced, you may be given the option to comply or not comply with the requirements and it may be that your choice not to will affect your visa. No social life and plan to wear a mask forever, what a life, might as well be dead in my book.
  20. Plan 1 Try speaking to them. If Plan 1 didn't work go on to plan 2 Plan 2 You need some heavy metal music and a good sound system, get the speakers as close to the adjoining boundary as you can when his sound system starts up turn on your music to full blast, keep this up until he gets the message.
  21. What a load of codswollop. I too am a pensioner living on an Aussie pension, I live on about 30,000 a month. I am not a smoker and I don't like alcohol anymore. I eat all Western food as I do not like Thai food, but I do most of my own cooking rather than pay for something which isn't as good as my cooking anyhow. I run a car and regularly had day trips out, pre Covid restrictions. Hot springs and massage, visit and swim in the waterfalls, swims in the river. I have a Thai partner who I do not support financially, although they do live with me expenses free, however because we eat different food they buy their own at their own expense. In this regard you have to make sure you are not an ATM machine, otherwise your 50,000 will go nowhere. I have quite a few hobbies that cost me a bit but I am ok with that.
