  1. Many health conditions are caused by having too much insulin in the body. If you think about it, then the human body has not evolved over thousands of years to eat three meals a day, plus snacks and sugary drinks. For many thousands of years you would be lucky to eat once a day, and if not, then once every two or three days... which is why intermittent fasting and the OMAD (one meal a day) diet is getting so much attention due to the major benefits derived from practicing it. Everytime you eat your insulin spikes and your pancreas has to work to balance what you put in your body, this is why people get insulin resistence and become type 2 diabetics due to so much sugar loaded into food. By doing intermittent fasting you give all your organs time to rest and recover. There are many huge benefits to one meal a day/intermittent fasting like autophagy, natural growth hormones that maintain stuff, increased energy levels through burning fat instead of glucose (ketosis), mental clarity and focus, improves your discipline in general etc. etc. As for metformin, you can take burberine or benfothiamine which does the same job, but are way more healthy/natural. Even if you are pre-diabetic, then burberine is a really good choice as a supplement that will get your blood sugar levels back to normal... definately worth researching and talking to a diabetic specialist doctor about it if you are taking metformin.
  2. "No new Covid rules needed" huh... sounds like famous last words and a candidate for an abrupt 180 amid sounds of coughing and a background noise of carpets being lifted along with brushing. Doing the opposite of everywhere else and Bangkok is clearly afraid of offending the tyrants in Beijing. What could go wrong? Guess money trumps sense on most levels for many... must be rubbing their hands together at the money that will shortly be flowing into the property market as the Chinese rush like a tsunami to get their money away from the CCP.
  3. "Thailand remains a destination for anyone" because it doesn't care about anything, other than money, and is only interested in the financial pay-off... to hell with principles and anything else that is inconvenient to their "narrative'. Pfft.
  4. "A FORMER NAVY officer said today (Dec. 21) that a fellow sailor who survived the sinking of HTMS 442 Sukhothai told him that the front left hull of the warship was cracked and........."
  5. "Partygoers in Thailand warned not to use cannabis at New Year celebrations"
  6. Typical fairyland stuff where the party in charge can't muster 2.5% of the public vote. Only in kangaroo land. The Thai public so needs to deliver a massive drubbing at the next election to these crooks and their puppet masters.
  7. EVs will just be another symbol of the divide between the haves and the have-nots here in Thailand. Yes, the government will/should promote them and a % of well-off folks will buy them for the face prestige factor, but places like Thailand are not going significantly electric, when it comes to vehicles, for a long time. EVs are simply currently prohibitively expensive for the great majority of people and the ICE transport option isn't going away anytime soon from Thailand and its peers... most Thais simple have no chance of affording it, plus there are endless decent ICE second-hand vehicles lining every road for sale. Even getting Somchai to give up his ridiculous loud ICE motorbike will be hard enough and a good alternative to that would be a better start. As for the transport and road freight industry, EVs are going to struggle for a while... hydrogen trucks/lorries would be better for long distance, electric for short. I'm not against going in the direction of EVs but there are plenty of problems in reality, including even things like there simply isn't enough lithium on the planet, so alternatives will have to be found for batteries etc.
  8. Big deal really, when it is generally considered as optional to have a driving licence anyhow. Even for the average Thai that uses up all their points, it's got as much chance of stopping them from still driving without one as Mr. T has of being a convincing ladyboy.
  9. It's not about the money spent. There are two main reasons that Thai kids are lacking on a few fronts. Firstly, high school here is a disaster and is just 6 years of brainwashing nonsense by some muppet high school teacher that hasn't a clue and is brainwashed themselves. This is where it initially goes completely wrong. Secondly, it's the motivation levels, or lack thereof, of these kids and they just simply aren't like Singapore kids (terrible comparison on all topics really)... not really any ambition in most. It's mainly just the idea of "let's just get through it along the path of least resistance and blend in with the herd" sort of nonsense. There just isn't the appetite to succeed apart from the 10% that do want to... call it what you like (lethargy/idleness/indifference/laziness/social conditioning etc. etc.). A commonly encountered example of this is something like "Well, I'm going to be working in Thailand, so why do I need to study English?" There are two types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic (from within and from outside) and all too often the latter is on display. It goes way deeper than the education authorities, media, or government feel comfortable facing/realising/talking about and changing it doesn't serve the ends of the elite (they still need a passive slave class of workers here)... it's a deeply ingrained trait that isn't going away anytime soon. Some commentators also say that religion plays a part as Buddhism isn't exactly well-suited to encourage the active get-up-and-go sort it out and make it happen attitude... especially in the many that don't see things as very urgent anyhow.
  10. Sadly, this sort of terrible event just goes to show how short and indifferent the news cycle is now. Almost as if it's ancient history now (same with the Terminal 21 massacre in Korat) and absolutely nothing has changed, no accountability at all, with none of the problems addressed... just a case of contrite posturing for a short time and then it's the "move along, nothing to see here" BS.
  11. Ah, those type of "planks", was going to say that there is no shortage of the other usage for that word.
  12. So, he was in charge of immigration, then he had a "fall from grace" and a desk job for a bit... then ends up deputy commander of the entire Thai police force. Sounds like a promotion in the end, really.
  13. Reciprocity of laws (obviously not all) for nationals of countries is something that should be employed in the West to enact change in such places like Thailand, and land ownership/property rights etc. are good examples of candidates for this. As for the Thai guy in the article... complete tool.
  14. Bet all of those in the picture/party (along with most elites here) have property in Europe/US or "The West" etc. Bunch of self-righteous hypocrites. As for foreigners buying land here under these proposals, then the take-up will be tiny as the deal is terrible (plus reviewed every 5 years... yeah, right)... only asylum cases would take them up on it.
  15. Foreign investment is made on sentiment/confidence, something the Thai authorities seems to have done their level best to erode in the last 10 years. People, especially business folks, are not stupid and can see it. There is also the issue of an over-valued baht manipulated to benefit the elite on their foreign buying sprees et al. If I was a medium to large investor, then there are much more attractive destinations for the money, plus there are so many hoops to jump through here in Thailand to get almost anything done. On top of that, the rule of law is shaky too if it doesn't suit the government... go ask Carlsberg/Pepsi/Kingsgate Mining etc. On top of that, the Thai authorities have done their level best to get rid of as many foreigners as possible over the last 5 years too... both retirees and working expats, like teachers etc. Thailand needs to realise it has to compete on many levels now, as the good old days are long gone.
  16. "Bank explains away seizing the wrong house", more like.
  17. What about the people that have diligently paid off their student loans and not been a free loader? Should they get tax relief for doing the right thing in the past if you introduce this new policy? Why should the useless that took advantage of the system and then did the entitled thing and not pay back get it canceled? If it was any other form of loan, then it would result in you being blacklisted. This will encourage a very negative attitude towards loans by the young... bad idea. Education is not for free... needs to be paid for. Why should those who work and pay taxes that don't have degree pay for the entitled? University is a privilege... not a right. The State should not be paying for this sort of stuff... it should be using the funds to help the economy, public services, and the least advantaged in society. The entitlement of some now is just out of control. How about working hard and justifying your existence so you can get ahead? Muppets.
  18. Prayut has already had his 8 years and the previous King appointed him at a certain date. In a real country, he would be done.
  19. It's a rhetorical question really... and the answer is "No". However, errant students should be failed for their belligerence or lack of co-operation. At school or university, it is simply a case of "To pass, you have to jump this high"... then, "Can you jump that high?". If not, then you are in remedial class. No need for physical nonsense.
  20. What the media are too scared to tell you all is it's a gay/bi community issue and trying to scare the big Jesus out of everyone.
  21. How about he speaks up for UK citizen's rights (or lack thereof) and their situations in Thailand, in contrast to the disparity of said rights that we enjoy here compared to what Thai citizens do in Britain? Pfft.... usual UK embassy nonsense.
  22. Trying to buy just two F35s... good luck with that, and it looks like a reverse-engineering order from Beijing. Congress will never approve it.
  23. Well, the SCOTUS basically just sent it to the states to decide for themselves... so, okay. The US is so huge, and with such a diversity of opinion that the "One glove fits all" federal law style often creates much polarization. I'm of no opinion either way and am a dude, so it's not up to me. I think it's fair enough for states to decide for themselves as they cater for their own voters. It is a very divisive topic, so the only realistic option is to let each state figure it out for themselves.
  24. Just as an observation, Saraburi is one of the most fascist camera-orientated places for fines in Thailand and the locals all say "Don't do anything wrong there" as you'll be fined/sanctioned for anything at all. It's like 500 baht fine for changing lanes in the wrong place.
