  1. Prayut needs a win on something to stop the pitchforks being waved/open a new sources of revenue for his cronies and the Saudis need slaves and hookers... sorry "masseuses".
  2. Whilst they were acting in a very ill-judged way, these two guys didn't deserve to have their heads chopped off by some nutcase with a sickle. The neighbours should have just called the cops, and they could have shown up and fined them 5000 baht each and it'd be over. I also get tired of this instant over-use of the excuse of "mental problems"... it's an affront to people that actually do have them and most don't do this sort of stuff. More likely the 22 year-old was a man-baby with no emotional intelligence that thought he could do as he wants, because it's "me"... then gets arrested at his mum's house, typical.
  3. As usual, the officials at the TAT go to work, have the daily brief of fictional figures and fantasy, take the blue pill, and go out to see the press.
  4. Time of day has some influence over the madness too, as well as speed/stupidity. Beware the early-morning market/school rush and when work releases all the slaves to charge home, pick up Little Billy/Jane for whatever reason, go get dinner off the street-food stall/at the market, drop in CP (or is it Brawndo/OCP) owned 7-11, and generally mill around in the ensuing chaos. Plus, on top of that, all the oxygen thieves arise in the afternoon to set out on another evening of wanton waste-of-space activities... including getting smashed.
  5. The killjoy squad, which the PM is a fully signed-up member of, don't want it. It will return, but under oppressive conditions until they realise they really do need it... that may take some time for the penny to drop with the puritanical brigade.
  6. Figures are nonsense. In most normal countries, you are considered employed if you pay income tax... which most Thais are either too poor (or too rich) to do. How are they coming to these figures with any believable grasp on reality? Sitting on the side of the road in a hammock selling coconuts or deck chairs isn't employment.
  7. This is normal according to medical modeling. This variant looks like it's more transmissible but more mild. The endgame to all this is a flu-style infection, and it will take its place among the other coronaviruses that are out there and infecting everyone all the time, that no-one cares about. MSM have done a disservice to all by scaring the living brown stuff out of everyone and there are so many sheeple that believe the nonsense. Get double jabbed and then take your chances like you did with the other jabs when you were young. Far too much drama-rama going on now.
  8. Surprised his nickname wasn't "Tool". Pretty much sums it up for this type of scumbag, got the nuts and arrogance to pull this on a woman at midday, then straight to the pawn shop, followed by brazen drinking in short order with probably equally suspect mates. Obviously not the sharpest "tool" in the box and an easy clear up for the cops as I doubt you can do much on that road without being videoed.
  9. Can't abide this duplicitous little snake who wriggles out of everything... because he knows where all the skeletons are buried. Truly the dinosaur poster-boy for all that is wrong with the old ways of doing things and Thailand's politics.
  10. They weren't doing very well 10 years ago and since then, they have done their level best to get rid of as many foreigners as possible... including teachers.
  11. Taxation on such things is a blunt instrument. When you tax the likes of sugar/salt, then usually it's the poor that are being punitively punished as the richer people don't care and will continue to consume regardless. As has been said, education would be better but other issues are probably more important to the current lot in charge. Casually taxing things like this can help build up and stoke resentment from the pitchfork brigade... a more nuanced approach would be better. Freedom is about choice and the more choice we have, then the freer we are. Why shouldn't people decide/choose to eat sugar or salt if they want to? Why should the majority without money be curtailed in their choice just because the puritan/killjoy brigade deem it to be appropriate? Everyone pays tax on most things they buy so whining about the cost isn't really okay... spend the generated tax better or cut corruption/waste. As long as there is education and clear labeling on food/drink you buy, then leave people to decide their fate through their choices. How about making a law for manufacturers of food stuffs that require them to limit the amounts in their products instead? Although, ideas like tax this or that are probably more likely to be about increasing lines of revenue as they are a bit broke currently. At the moment, Thailand is rapidly heading towards a bland joyless country where you can't really do much unless the barracks commander deems it so. Yes, there are benefits to something like taxation on sugar/salt in the health perspective but there also the negatives to it too... it's called critical thinking.
  12. More like "Installed on the orders of the future President Dwayne Camacho along with free blue pill dispensers on site."
  13. Most Thais I talk to say that they are waiting for the dinosaurs to be taken and a new Thailand will emerge. Generally, they say 10 years or so. Sad really, but the writing is on the wall though. The kids growing up now will not stand for it when they get into positions of power... it ,change, is inevitable.
  14. When I read "DPM Anutin" it always makes me think his title is "Damage Per Minute Anutin".
  15. Basically, a good choice if you are interested in strafing drug caravans/dealers and illegal loggers or keeping watch over the borders for immigrants etc. as you can fly low and slow. Not really much use for anything else, and still have to be careful as a half-decent heavy machine would probably bring one down... turboprops are vulnerable like helicopters.
  16. TAT and the current government just don't get it. Thailand became such a success because it was hot, beautiful, reasonably priced living, welcoming, hassle free, fun, free-wheeling, exotic etc. etc., which sadly, has all been ripped out by the deluded killjoy squad. Trying to turn it into Monaco is a lofty delusion that just won't happen. Also, who puts military generals in charge of leisure/tourism/fun for tourists or foreigners? Lol.
  17. More "polls" from the Ministry of Brainwashing. Who did they send the questionnaires to? The killjoy squad?
  18. Covid is rampant everywhere, like the normal flu. So many will have had it without even realising it... and with 1% or less having issues or dying, then at some point we are going to have to take our chances, or suffer economic and social/cultural collapse. I sometimes obviously wonder, if this is just being used as an opportunity for control... in good old style everywhere, especially in Asia.
  19. If they actually cleared it (fraud/scamming etc.) all up, then there would be no-one left to do anything... country would collapse. If they put in as much effort into some other things as they do into scamming, then Thailand would be a certified cornucopia of success.
  20. Build an economy and world around hydrogen, and use renewables as the electricity source to power the separation process (like Japan is doing). It is by far the most sensible option to reach zero neutral emissions.
  21. EVs are coming and the problems will eventually be sorted out, but nowhere near as fast as some think. In the meantime, biofuels that work in combustion engines are probably the answer during the lengthy switch-over. However, many places are also going for hydrogen (like Japan) and building infrastructure around that, which seems like a good idea to me. Unless they sort out fusion, then the electricity still needs to come from somewhere and the ramp-up of supply (and infrastructure) will need to be huge... along with the negatives of that, which we already encounter. Although, it looks like big business and others have decided on EVs as a way of saving the transport industry, so investments have been made and it's done and dusted.
  22. There are a couple of points worthy of mentioning. Firstly, at some point or another, everywhere (not just Thailand) will have to reopen... otherwise, economic collapse is coming. Secondly, the Thai government dropped the ball on getting people vaccinated, so reopening now, or December the 1st, is a gamble but they have left themselves with little choice. Third, we won't really know where the medium-term goal posts are until the middle-ish of next year once everyone has got double vaccinated, so many will be hesitant to book a holiday as it could go south at either end of a short holiday in swift fashion. You are likely going to get the people who really need to come for reasons other than your holiday jollies for two weeks. Finally, if there is a cluster or an uptick in cases/deaths all of a sudden, then what happens? Strict lockdown again? What do you do with all the "tourists" that have turned up? Hmmm, an all too possible eventuality which will set things back badly... and with this lot in charge, they probably won't hesitate to do it on a whim, regardless of the consequences to the average Thai/tourist/foreigner in general. Sure is a gamble, but you have to have a pop at it... and eventually, we are all going to have to take our chances, as we can't live like this forever. On the positive side, maybe it will work okay, and cases will be manageable... who knows? However, the cynical side of me doesn't usually view such topics here very positively these days.
  23. To be honest, I don't think you are even safe here if you are a resident with the papers etc. I highly doubt that that is an obstacle to anything if they deem it so to rescind it. Assumption is the mother of all <deleted> ups.
  24. "Neighboring countries" means Burma. Well, I guess if you do the usual ASEAN MO and just ignore everything, then that's what will happen.
  25. There are plenty of examples of foreigners who have stuck their heads up on stuff, thinking it was fine, only to realise that it isn't okay to comment, in such overt ways, since the current lot have taken over.
