  1. Never asked for a dictator....we might get that come 2024....I asked for ideas. Let's try a different question then: Where do you go for your information? PH
  2. Why do people start topics that are utterly pointless? PH
  3. You MAY have to pay SOME tax, depending on a huge number of variables. Your statement is dangerously wide of the mark. PH
  4. If the WTT buildings collapsed into their own footprint, how did a falling beam split the Bankers Trust building in half? PH
  5. Clearly you know better than the heaps of YT videos and my own experience. Some are open to new knowledge, others are not. PH
  6. No knead sourdough does take time - but not yours. Very little involvement and tastes way better than any shop bought. Several YT videos for anyone interested enough Warning: Had to stop making it as I could down half a loaf while still on the rack cooling. PH
  7. There is some confusion - probably not helped by incorrect phrases and words being used. If applying for your non-O Visa (Ie you currently do not have one and are here on some other permission), you need 15 days remaining on whatever entry permission that is. In following years, you apply for an extension of stay, not a new visa. This can be done up to the final day of your current extension (or, if for the first extension, the visa itself). PH
  8. Had two friends who bought off plan...one sold before moving in, other lasted about two weeks before moving out and selling at a loss. This was pre-covid but was inundated with bus loads of short term stayers (rumours of two double mattresses per studio!) and I understand they had a desk set up in the foyer such was the lack of control from Juristic. Up very early and noisy eating round the pool, with inevitable debris into the water..... A common proble with the very new developments that are bought up en masse for exactly this srt of airbnb type activity. Owners will care not one jot for residents, upkeep, maintenance - quick buck turn around, move on.... PH
  9. As he was in 2016. So was Hillary Clinton. And so is (and maybe was) Joe Biden. It is very sad that the US cannot do better. 2008 is probably the last time there were two contenders both worthy of winning. PH
  10. Would those be hats and sneakers made in China? (remember his tie?) PH
  11. Which means that the 20% is actually recycled, which is rather more than the zero percent from those who put it directly in the trash or burn it. PH
  12. It does, eventually. The ONLY thing that matters is the total THB you receive into your account for the USD you send. The calcualtion can change (ever so slightly!) day to day. WISE gives pretty much the best exchange rate, but charges a %age fee on the amount transferred, so this contiues to increase as the amount transferred increases. I believe Remitly uses a similar formual SWIFT will give a lower exchange rate, but charges (at both ends) will be capped. Western Union can often be the best Just done a compaison on WISE website and WU is showing the best return right now for a £1K transfer: But for £10K, WISE is best: Do you own sums - FWIW I transferred near 3m THB here two years ago for a condo pruchase and WISE was still the best option. PH
  13. And if they are paying, then you (or anyone else) REALLY think they are then putting it in landfill? If there is no market, why do we see (in Pattaya) several locals going around diligently sifting through bins to collect plastic and cardboard? And many falang appear to think they have intellectual cspacity way above that of the locals! PH
  14. I was not suggesting ONLY using a filter on the aircon. I thought that would be obvious from the rest of my post which said ".... and may well extend the life of your main HEPA filter in your airpurifier." But clearly not obvious enough. PH
  15. I like the layout of the Urban 50m2 and the Avenue 45m2 units...both make good use of space imv, unlike the 48m2 (?) units at City Garden. PH
  16. In the past eight years I have lived in central Pattaya and looked (both for rent and potentially buy) at many. My thoughts: Grand Avenue....condos appear well fitted out, but both the two I looked at had ZERO storage space. Management fees also high (esp for a new build); those facing west and south get either a LOT of afternoon sun (something to consider with all condos, obv) or are right up against the TravelLodge. South - plot next door up for sale so potential development soon? Centara - built quality appears poor (have a look at the pipework in the underground car parks). Again, west facing get sun, east facing too close to noise from Buakhow. Pool and gym appear large, but with hotel and number of units do not expect will be quiet. Avenue/Urban/City Garden - more established and better value IMV. Avenue and Urban appear to be well run by Committee/Juristic, City Garden does get some airbnb I hear and Juristic not interested in tackling this despite big notice at entrance. Pride - seems rather dates, sma;; pool. Potential noise from Soi Diana bars. Diana Estates- great location, BUT - traffic on Buakhow getting worse; noise from Tree Town well into small hours. PKCP - dated, but good value. A little further out but near baht bus and with own tx not a problem. PH
  17. If the filter is dirty, then is HAS to be catching dirt. Maybe not all - but somehting is way better than nothng, and may well extend the life of your main HEPA filter in your airpurifier. PH
  18. New Retirement Extension last week at Jomtien - pre-filled and printed form accepted with no questions asked. PH
  19. From a Met spokeman: 'We met the aircraft on arrival and a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and endangering an aircraft. 'He remains in custody." PH
  20. Good for you. Sounds like my OH is quite a lot smaller than yours, or your son. I merely suggested something for prospective purchasers to consider; really didn't need the lecture, thanks. PH
  21. Actually there is a techincal difference between a motorbike and a scooter. Depends if engine is attached to chassis (scooter, which alows "step through" platform) or frame (bike). Typically, bikes will also have larger CC engines - but there is considerable overlap. PH
  22. While this may be true for some, I find the 125 perfect for zipping around town...really don;t need any extra oomph. Mrs found the 160 too big - the 125 is big enough and, when she's on the back, is almost too big for her to get on/off. Worth bearing in mind for a couple. PH
  23. Bought a new Honda Click 125 in Bo Win late last year - cheaper than pattaya dealers, free delivery. PH
