Phuket = Island of corruption and scams.  We will NEVER again visit there - from being hit by the taxi mafia on arrival to all the rip-offs and scams, it was extremely annoying. Annoying to get them thrown at you every day, but even more annoying seeing dumb tourists paying up without complaint. Great beaches and some fantastic spots - but when even the leader of a Military Junta is told to 'shove off', you know the corruption is endemic and will never change. If it sank into the ocean, as long as all the Expats, tourists and Thai workers survived, I would be very happy.

Indeed. These rascals are giving Thailand a bad name.

Regarding digging costs, on my wife's land the local authorities dug a pond for free and took the soil (clay) for local projects (I guess raising land for building roads). Might be worth asking if such deals are available in your area.

The wife's sister Pook had two ponds dug on her land; for free. I think she was even given fingerlings to stock with. I have eight ponds and I paid for them all.

If there is a decent stone strata, they will be most enthusiastic. But the water level will then be dependent on the water table, and that can be somewhat volatile. Our pond 8 is like that.

Aseannow up and running again. Weather was nice at the weekend up till Tuesday, max was 30 Centigrade. Last 2 days back to normal, 31 plus. I notice the difference - under 30 can work for hours, above 30 more like one hour at the most. Not young enough!

We cut the rice field (about one rai) 10 days ago - usual miserable results - 3 bags. Paid for the combine harvester, but not the ploughing. I keep telling the wife that rice in that field is a waste of time. Soil is poor. Not much grows around the field, and what does is only half the size. Even bananas and mangoes struggle. I want to turn it back into a pond - after initial digging cost maintenance is a lot lower, and will get some fish to eat, even if they are also only half the size.

Wife has just planted roses and African marigold. I predict all dead in 3 months. We need proper soil analysis to identify the problems, rather than me speculating.

Only 3 bags of rice Rick? Not good that. We finished harvesting last evening. For 1..6 rai we got 23 bags. Better than your haul, but still not worth the bother. By the time we paid out everything, we would be better just leaving the field and buying rice as we need it.

I think the ponds, with a guaranteed water source, is the way to go. I designed an automatic fish feeder a few years back*. A couple of those on the ponds would cut commercial feed costs by half.

    * Anyone interested in the feeder; I'll do a special post explaining all; with pics.

Also a filter that I have built and works good. For well under 1000 baht.

    Never a dull day here @aseannow, or 6… 🙄

    I hear it’s been a bit cool Owl ?

Yes HP. It has cooled a bit. Not cool enough for the little early-morning fires though.

Was at the farm til 7 last evening. Rice and all that. Mostly done now.

    Another great post Owl.

    Thanks MD.

I've been following the Sum Sao Wat for a few years now. I'll dig out some of the old pics and post pictorial progress. The Wat is not yet finished. Early next year I reckon. And the lake next door looks interesting.

Firstly, I am not taking offence of any kind on behalf of my wife, just sick and tired of this "bargirls" this, "bargirls" that, it starts to sound like a broken record player is you follow all the comments here on "bargirls", ok, I can see how I read it the wrong way and chill pills don't work on me, I'm like a bull, wave the rad flag and it's straight to it, maybe a Vigra will help.

That or I read it, as you say, 'arse about' which got my nickers in a knot.

    That makes better sense now.

Ah yes, we've all been there done that and have put it all behind us, because life is just perfect here for me with my "bargirl" wife, AKA village sl-t as I refer to her every now and again (playfully of course).

Didn't mean to go at yah so hard, as I mentioned, it just urks me that "bargirls" get a bad rant here, I have met hundreds and put a few in the sack, can't fault any of them, in my opinion, they are just girls, can't say women, because mentally, they really haven't developed, not criticising them, just my observations from conversations with them over the many years.

As I also said, not defending my "bargirl" wife in any way, she had a job, she had a need, it paid her bills, she didn't rip anyone off, she met a farang and has had a life now for the past 17 years that she would not otherwise could have ever imagined, I don't put "bargirls" down, because of their profession, be it short time, long time or whatever, those that do, have a gripe with them and they own it until they let it go, takes two to Tango, only one to be stupid enough to part with his life savings to a female, regardless of profession.

Pistols at dawn for you two.

I've seen plenty of your posts being deleted because they were for example misinformation or conspiracy theorist content.

    Have you indeed E.

Can't recall any of my posts that you suggest had ';misinformation or conspiracy theorist' info.

Perhaps there was one. When I stated that in my opinion 'no one has been to the moon.' But that was a legitimate claim for the thread it was posted on.

I was suspended for laughing at a moderator, you can give hearts but not a chuckle.

I got a suspension for agreeing with a mod on the footy forum. On the Spurs thread, and I put a sad mojo in the post. Think that brought me up to 12 suspensions. Most of those were total nonsense. Been on egg-shells ever since.

    Also try 3,4.5,9,0 ,

Because if one side is 3  the other is 4  and the long side is 5 , the you have a 9 0 degree angle

or if you go with 2,3 5 , the the next combination in the fibonacci sequence would be 8

So 2,3.5.8 or the ration whim is 1.6 or 5/8s and matches  the last two digits 5,8

Do you think I smoked to much weed in my use?

We are all gonna be rich. Thanks for that S.

I'll be going to Ban Dung this afternoon. And I'll be after that special number that will make me 6 million baht wealthier.

So we are talking maths are we S? Well I like the Owl sequence, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13,,,etc. I could go on. Interestingly, infinity can never be established. Why? Cause infinity plus one is more/bigger.

While we are talking mathematics. A little teaser. How can a circle's area be accurately established using 4 sticks of bamboo and a pot of rice? Commonly known as the Thai farmer, or Lao Khao method. But!!!! Wait for it;;; without using Pi in any way.

Answers oo a postcard please. The first correct answer out the bag, will win a somtam dinner with Nok from the next village.

Whenever something is said that the opposing side don't like they go ape. Provide links!! Proof!! Quote source!! They even try to get the mods involved to shut you down.

Stand firm. There are many facets to this conflict. And your opinion is just as valid as theirs.
