  1. Where have all the 'signatures' gone?
  2. Thanks Mutt. In these uncertain times, a bit of encouragement, keeps us at it. So easy to slide into a meaningless loop of waking up, doing nothing, and going back to sleep.
  3. Why not tell us a little about Buddism Glegolo? My take is that it reflects life, nature, humans and our bodies. We plan, we build, we maintain and we destroy. It's an ongoing cycle of everything, from the universe to the cells in our bodies. But on the upside; didn't I get it right in the footy opener? I forecast 1-2, and Sheffield Owl agreed. Hope he had a few bob on the score.
  4. Two genies were walking away from the tree. They chatted as they removed their white hoods. "Sometimes I think humans are strange." "What you mean?" "Well, take today. That guy, who released us from the bottle." "This one, who got the three wishes." Nodding back to the tree. "Yep. I can understand his first wish; to have a large house in beautiful grounds. And the second; to be surrounded by lots of beautiful naked ladies. But his last wish? I don't get it." "What? That he wanted to be hung like a black man."
  5. I came home from the pub after a good night out. Julie had already gone to bed. I was feeling a tad horny. I lay on the bed and my hand began to wander. I soon found what I was after. "My word Julie, you are getting so hairy down there, and so soft and lovely." My finger began investigating. "Very tight too. But a little dry." Julie replied. "That's the cat. I'm further over."
  6. In the best part of three years, it has gone from a wooden hut to a fine building. Apart from a bit of tidy up on mainland, the whole thing is just about finished. All that's left now is a donation box, and some fish. 25 pics in all show the progress. Sometimes racing ahead. At other times very slow. Thanks for viewing.
  7. We don't know what lies in store for us at 13 years old. I'm pleased she has found something she has a talent for and sticking with it. The teenagers in the village don't seem to do anything constructive. Just charge about on these electric bikes most of the time; it seems to me. And when their bikes are being recharged; it's time for the mobile. Rain!! The last 30 days have been as they should be. Although a couple of real heavy downpours have caused havoc with the rice fields. We have had our share in the village. Pond one is full. So full, in fact, that that it has been running back down the overflow into the paddy. So had to break the bank and let some water out today.. Didn't finish 'til 17-45 this evening. And there is more to do tomorrow. I'll post some pics in the week. Thai politics!? Can't say there is anyone I know in the village that is really interested. Most are just surviving financially and don't know what's going on. Is Thaksin coming home? But back to your favourite subject. What do the meteorological office know? Any forecast longer than a couple of days in front is a guess. I'll settle for another two months like rainy July.
  8. Unfortunately cheats do get involved in sport. Even darts and snooker, has its cheaters. You are right when you say that golf is relatively clean. Can't recall many incidents. And don't know of any cheating. Perhaps a (un)intentional error on the scorecard! Perhaps Trevino, when he chucked that snake at Nicklaus. Or was that a bit of gamesmanship?
  9. I agree partly with you post BN. Think the fielding side should have the option of changing the old for new ball after so many overs are bowled; say 50. The new ball is automatic on the 70th over. If the ball is badly damaged; as was the case in Bridgetown some years back; when Sobers hit the ball onto a iron girder on the terracing, and split the thing, then it has to be replaced. Discussion on this scenario is needed. Recall Colin Cowdrey giving himself out (walked) when on 94? Don't need to change rules. Get the cheats out of the sport. .
  10. As far as Scottish cricketers go; they refuse to wear white kilts. Obviously there is a cricket dress code. Welsh men can play in the English cricket team. Wasn't Lewis a Welshman? The game of cricket gives bowlers and batters an even chance. Conditions change and pitches vary, but the beauty of the game is that both sides play with a ;fair-play; spirit and accept the result; win or lose. As for the '''South Africans, Indians, and Pakistanis who cheat'''. I am saddened that they do cheat; if indeed they do. I was in Sabina Park, in 1998, when the match was abandoned during the first session. That chief groundsman should have faced ridicule for the rest of his days. I went onto the pitch after the players went off, and I could but my fingers deep into the cracks. I'm not just saying this stuff to get 'likes. No!! In my bio - if anyone reads it to the end - I say that 'Cheating in Sport' is one of my pet hates. Alongside mass murdering and destroying historic works of art.
  11. No wonder there is so much corruption, wars and bad things happening in the world. Cricket should be setting an example and be above bad stuff. If any player is caught cheating they should be banned forever and have all their series match fees taken away. If they are Oz, then made to pay for their own passage home. If English (or Welsh); stocks should brought out of storage and be dusted off.
  12. Not to worry DD. They have western toilets. Clean running water, hand towels, and locks on the door.
  13. You could be right there CL. Early days yet though. Who knows what the future holds; for all/any of us? But, with the future in mind, I will renew her two passports as soon as my one gets back. I'm saving up for it. She started drawing at about 5 or 6 years. I would stick her little offerings on the walls. Went back to England in 2015, and returned the week after the Brexit vote in 2016. The walls were bare. And all the drawings binned. I'm the encourager for her. Tried different things; including music, swimming, maths, story writing, chess and www coding. Fortunately the art has stuck. She has a A4 hard-back book that is full of little sketches; many just doodles. Much better than I could ever do. Her latest pic is only half finished. Looks good to me. I'll post when finished. Snapped her at work. in her studio. yesterday.
  14. Owl Log - 30-07-2023 - Sunday afternoon Decided against doing the trees today. Mildred is doing some painting and I can't do it on me own. Wouldn't ask Mrs Owl for assist'. No way! Had a funny (strange) call in the week. A Thai guy phoned up to say there was a delivery on its way. Please have 1,500 baht ready. Well that's what I thought he said. There was a delivery due for 1,129 baht (actually arrived last evening), so I thought if fishy. Called the number back and it didn't go through. About half hour later, the same number rang again. Gave it straight to the wife, who chatted for 30 seconds or so. Wife asked me if I had a delivery on the way for 1,500 baht. I said no! Tell him to return - the whatever it was - to sender. A few more words and the Mrs handed the phone to me. A sweet Krabi (she said) girl on the line, and said in pretty good English, that I had to take it in. She asked me if I wanted her to call the police for me. I replied that she could do what she wanted, but I would not be paying anything for any parcel. She hung up. Not heard anything since. This month has ended as it started. Plenty, and prolonged periods, of light rain. The pipes under the road have all been cemented closed. All 7 of them. The buddha man next to us (down from us) had words with BeeApp; when he was doing the work. BeeApp didn't seem to take it to heart. Now when it rains the water should stay in the rice paddy. And any overflow go into either pond one, or runs under the road into the palm farm. The village Buddha is virtually finished. Have lots of pics from the very start; and before the project began. I'll post them all on another Owl Log. Too many for a Sunday. But just the first and last! And another couple as the work progressed. And the finished job!!!! I'm thinking to print out all the pics, and slip them into a portfolio. Give it to the chief monk for their reception room. I bet I'm the only one with a image record of the build. Mildred is getting requests for mobiles images from her friends at school. Seems to be doing loads. Just a few samples. This one for Aijang. And Ice. Cream. And her own one. Anlin is the name she writes under on some Thai www or other. Last time we got some rice from the store; a bit was spilled in the pick-up. So now Mildred has done her own rice plantation. Don't know how high they will get. Mildred's latest art offering. She is doing a painting right at the mo'. Trying out a new 300g water-proof paper. Although it is special for water paints. We will see. Had an email from the PP people in BKK. Just conforming that they had all the necessary documentation, and the dosh, for the passport renewal. Ladders!! Found a couple of pics that illustrate what should or shouldn't be done. HP is the resident constructor. Perhaps he will comment. Me and Mildred visited Harry, an old friend, in the week. He has done some great art-work on his walls. Daughter was impressed. And I was too, when she named the countries I pointed to. Last day of the World Aquatic Champs in Fukuoka, Japan, today. Been having trouble getting to watch the races. The Ozzies are having a great meet. UK not doing too bad. USA, not as good as they usually are. World records being broken all over. Thailand has been competing. I'll do a little presentation of their team at the foot of the Owl Log. Look like the English (and Welsh) are gonna level up the cricket 2-2. The Roos will need getting on for 400 to take the match. I can't wait for the footy to start. Opening match is on Friday evening between the Owls and Saints. What a fantastic opener?! I'll take The Saints to edge it 1-2. The Wednesday, changed their name to Sheffield Wednesday in 1929, but how did 'Wednesday first come about? a/ The club was originally formed on a Wednesday evening. b/ The original club, played at a ground next to 'Wednesday Road'. c/ Their first ever footy match was on a Wednesday. d/ The original players had Wednesdays off work. Answer in the week. Is ex-POTUS gonna be the first president to run the country from a prison cell? Intriguing or what!! Twitter is now 'X'. Don't it just roll off yer tongue. Thai public workers have a few days off, either side of the W/e. Including teachers. That means; no school for daughter until Wednesday. Great!! I've got a new Scottish footy team to support. Looked up Linlithgow on the www. They have their own palace and distillery. Be keeping an eye on them. The little pears are growing so well now the rain is here. Very late; these fruits this year. The tree opposite has mangoes all over it. Been difficult burning the small branches and twigs. Only burn those ones with the nasty spikes. My right hip is causing me problems.. It was pretty good until I fell over at the farm a couple of months ago. Could have been much worse. Could have fell on a snake or had the spike in a 20kg bunch of nuts; that then landed on me chest. Must stop moaning. Only one thing left to say; bye y'all. ================== Thai swimmers at Fukuoka, Japan Girls 50 Free - Jenjira Srisa-ard - 35th overall - 25-70 50 Breast - Jenjira Srisa-ard - 33rd overall - 32-02 50 Fly - Jenjira Srisa-ard - 28th overall - 26-78 50 Back - Saovanee Boonamphai - 38th overall - 29-46 100 Back - Saovanee Boonamphai - 44th overall - 1-04-53 100 Breast - Phiangkhwan Pawapotako - 44th overall - 1-11-78 200 Breast - Phiangkhwan Pawapotako - 26th overall - 2-35-12 200 Fly - Kamonchanok Kwanmuang - 20th overall - 2-12-46 200 IM - Kamonchanok Kwanmuang - 30th overall - 2-18-02 400 IM - Kamonchanok Kwanmuang - 24th overall - 4-48-97 Guys 100 F/s - Dulyawat Kaewsriyong - 52nd overall - 50-46 200 F/s - Dulyawat Kaewsriyong - 43rd overall - 1-52-24 400 F/s - Tonnam Kanteemool - 34th overall - 3-56-69 50 Back - Tonnam Kanteemool - 40th overall - 26-39 200 Back - Tonnam Kanteemool - 30th overall - 2-03-45 100 Fly - Navaphat Wongcharoen - 43th overall - 53-84 200 Fly - Navaphat Wongcharoen - 29th overall - 2-03-05 800 F/s - Ratthawit Thammananthachole - 34th - 8-14-87 1500 F/s - Ratthawit Thammananthachole - 24th - 15-39-46 Team events Girls 4x100 F/s - 18th overall - 3-56-84 4x100 Med - 23rd overall - 4-20-43 Guys 4x100 F/s - 20th overall - 3-27-18 4x200 F/s - 16th overall - 7-39-28 4x100 Med - 21st overall - 3-52-53 Mixed (2 Ladies - 2 Men) 4x100 F/s - 25th overall - 3-39-38 4x100 Med - 26th overall - 4-05-03 Very, very high quality competition. 15. Mildred was looking at the ladder. She said she would give a shout if it started to slip. But she went off to take a couple of pics. No worries. I knew what I was doing. Not sure I had three points of contact though. Whatever that is!? That pic was a few months ago. A bit more careful nowadays. Gonna trim some pf the eucas in the next few days. I have a special way of doing them. Not all that dangerous. Unless the tree moves. Should be OK.
  16. What about other natural stuff for a good night's sleep? Garlic under the pillow and lavender close by on the dresser..
  17. It is indeed sad to hear of this incident. She was troubled; that's for sure. At least she kept her head.
  18. Season 2023/24 will soon be with us. Are you gonna do the honours again MrB?
  19. Rest in Peace Sinéad. Dublin lady passes. Very troubled last few years.
  20. Ozzie Jim Jefferies sorted him out good and proper. Think Piers was a bit scared. Jefferies threw a few fooks into him to shut him up.
  21. I was meaning before - even well before - the recent problems. Dogs are just like humans. They usually vomit because the body is either rejecting the intake, or ridding itself of a toxin (poison). Try to build a story of your dog. Go back 12 months and try to recall any changes. That includes environmental, diet changes and vet visits.
  22. Sorry giddyup (GU). My laziness kicking in.
