What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2022)
owl sees all replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
We 'discussed' the series on the Diary thread some time ago. Since then I've played the theme song to both the wife and daughter. At least Mildred listened to the end. I also persuaded a Texan friend to take a look at a few episodes. He didn't get it. But that didn't surprise me. Recall that moment when Tommy Cooper was performing in Las Vegas. His agent and the theatre manager were watching Tommy's routine from the wings. After a few minutes, the manager said quietly to the agent; "Mr Coopers tricks don't seem to be working." The UK and US. Two countries divided by a common language and comedy. -
How low will the £ go?

IMO, this is worth debate. For a start off, the war in Ukraine is a conflict. If it does become a proper war - heavy stuff being fired into both Ukraine and Russia - then only gold and silver will be a haven for ordinary people. If the war then escalated to include NATO then most currencies will collapse. Including the $. The UK started money printing big-time in the second quarter of 2020. But the £ has been under pressure since June 2016. The big problem being that the people decided to leave the Euro Club, and the establishment didn't like it. The Queen has a replacement in Charles. He seems aligned with the WEF, and wants global warming action. Other stuff too; but beyond the scope of this post. Whether he will push through his beliefs - unlike his mother who used very soft persuasion - in a high-profile way, waits to be seen. The way out of this downward spiral for the UK is growth and international trade. Can't see any prospect of either at the present, given its stance on quite a few things. -

Get the lot over before the £ really goes down the tubes. Transfer it all and buy gold. I think the Euro will suffer more. Down to 25 baht. As for the £. 35 is a'coming. -
That's the problem right there! Farmers go on pointing fest

Don't suppose that this lot have heard of drainage! We have the same problems up here. More roads like that than highways. Get in there with a chog-chog and get the water to run off. A hundred lorry loads of red stone would sort it. But expensive at the mo'. -

Detectorists series. For the second time. -
Antibiotics after tooth extraction - advice please

Amoxicillin supposedly stops bacteria getting to the heart, where it 'could' cause problems. Why have four out in one sitting? Too traumatic! If you had pulled them yourself one at a time - with a gap of two weeks between - it would have been much kinder to the mouth and your body in general. -
I think I know who that booing man was. Did he have a French accent? Reece James knows that giving the ball away is a footy crime.

Just checked the 'O's only year in the top flight (62/63). After being promoted alongside Liverpool the previous year - with the best defensive record in the league - we were optimistic. At the beginning of October we were 12th. Had solid wins against Everton and and Man Utd, but a run of seven straight losses, starting in March, sent us close to the bottom. We couldn't recover. And not taking a point from the last five games didn't give a life-line. On an up-side; we shared the points with The Irons - both 2-0 results - and took 3 from 4 against Fulham. Down!! But as Arnie famously said; "We will be back."

Worst Joke Ever 2025

I welcome the chance to sit down. Those medals are heavy. And that ropey thing is solid gold. Legs are not getting any younger. -
Regular 6k home gates. Only a stone's throw from WHU's new ground. As the 'O's move up the leagues a lot of Irons's fans will come over.
-
The Irons are off to a bad start. That's a fact. But we'll pull ourselves up the table soon. Maybe after the World Cup? But my number one team is well clear at the top of their fourth tier league. I still live in hope that I will see the Orient get into the Champions League. As for winning the top European trophy; well Man City and Arsenal still have not done the deed. So I know it's hard. But not beyond us.

Thanks for the tip fellow Owl. I can remember the great BBC shows from years ago. We would rush home from school to catch the Wooden Tops or Twizzle. and later, as I grew older, Match of the day on a Saturday evening. Anyway, I've got to stop the DD. I'll stick with the Owl Log from now on. Although I might venture over to the footy threads every time the Irons win.

Please keep us informed on sapling progress Bannork. Pics!! I think that black cloth you are speaking of also comes in green. That might do the trick just as well.

Thanks for the info' Rick. There does seem quite a lot of illness/sickness around our village too. And this year there have been half-a-dozen deaths. A couple of them young people in there 40s. The daughter's school did a Khon Kean zoo visit a couple of years back. I did a feature on the Farang Dairy back in 2019. If my memory is still intact, I think she enjoyed the birds most. My latest disappearance was due to a long standing personal avocation. In short DD. Which in everyday talk is 'disinformation disorder'. Obviously I have to sort this out. And I'll start by upping my reishi wine intake, and watching the BBC.. Sister-in-law Pook called us at about nine last evening. She had bad belly ache and wanted Mrs Owl to take her to Ban Dung Hospital. They were back at 11ish. Just a couple of injections did the trick. My remedy of drinking a few litres of water was poo-pooed. That had mostly worked for me in the past. But i guess Thai women are different. Which they obviously are. But most bellies work the same; don't they? Gonna make a reish brew soon. Vous is spending a week in a log cabin with a lady friend in the woods. Thank you all and take care out there.

Thanks for that DJ. I was fishing in Huntington a few years back and I the guy I was fishing with had a body warmer on that had a battery attached. Can't recall too much. But I reckon they must be well advanced from those early days I have an ex and 4 daughters in the UK. Don't want them to freeze when the gas-tired boiler needs to be on to warm the house, Sure to be off now in the summer but come December? Those oil-filled mobile radiators seem to do the bizzo; and they are not that expensive, and cheap to run.

“Unruly” Aussie woman kicked off flight from Phuket to Sydney
owl sees all replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
My ex looked just like her; perhaps a little darker. Her name was Fatima and she liked to sit by the window. On the other hand I am 2 metres tall with long legs, so I preferred the isle seat. On one flight to Gambia there were three side-of-isle seats. We held hands all the way, except when food was served. Didn't want to inconvenience the middle passenger. How I miss her. -
Worst Joke Ever 2025

Found a lovely US flag on the internet. Going cheap; 50% off. Sent away for it and waited for the delivery in a few days. Well it arrived and I hurriedly tore open the packaging. I held it up but to my horror, where there should have been stars there were lemons. And the colours were completely the wrong way round. Turned out to be a false flag. -
Why not? A good idea Starky. That was my thinking too. When it was empty it pushed OK. As it gradually got loaded up it possessed a mind of it's own. I did think of getting another and transferring the water and cat food over; but muscled through. Not one of my top 10 pleasurable shopping experiences. Big C was built - just across the road - about 3 years later, and it has two gold shops and 8 telephone outlets.
-
I don't go to Makro. It's just too far away. Go to Big C once a week. Used to go to the supermarket in the Ban Dung bus station, until I discovered the most outrageous rip off (well documented in Thai Visa archives). Don't go in there now because of that. But do use the ATM outside. That's it with the supermarkets. Seven eleven if daughter wants a cheeseburger or something, and we are passing. But even 7/11 leaves a sour taste in my mouth due to a altercation with a manager in West London. Serious stuff; the local MP got involved.

For me going shopping is a major experience. But in saying that, certain criteria have to be met for me to actually enjoy the visit. A couple of years ago I was unfortunate enough to pick up a cart that was determined to not go where I pushed it. I complained to one of the workers and she simply laughed. That was Ban Dung Tesco. I didn't go back there for over 12 months. But that was 7 years ago. Now that same store is a 'Lotus', and more importantly, has a nice 20 baht shop outside. I like the bargains at the 20 baht shop. Earphones 20 baht; Set of 12 batteries 20 baht; selection of screwdrivers and spanners, again all 20 baht. Now when I go to Big C, I rush off to the pet food section. If tinned cat food is on a special I usually buy 10 tins. If it's the usual price of 36 baht I buy 4 or 5. The cheapest cat food in Lotus is 40 baht. A few years ago there was a check-out girl in Tesco that was - shall we say - well endowed. Very efficient she was. Her till was always popular. But she left and I don't go in there anymore. But not because she is not there.
