  1. Theres a Thai women who owns a few houses up the top of soi 80 in hua hin and she often sits out the front opposite some bars and she quite often gets given money by tourists thinking they have done their good dead for the day, well she certainly has more deeds than most of the tourists !
  2. Always intrigued about American always leaving tips, not really a thing in the UK, certainly not in a pub if just drinking but perhaps after a good meal. Do the tippers that always tip any service, how do you deal with tipping flight attendants on a plane that have looked after you for the last few hours? Presuming you still tip on a plane?
  3. if you have had a lawyer check the purchase then i would be sure to get something in writing that they have indeed done sufficient checks on it. The issue being, as has been raised in this post is that you need something to fall back on, just in case. After loosing hundreds of thousands of pounds through family purchases and loans in Thailand to Thai people, please double check everything and get it in writing and signed off by someone who is authorized to do so.
  4. This variant was found in 30 odd countries at the same time, so suggets that it has been around a long time but as it causes very few deaths its not been of any importance. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. Scare mongering tactics just so they can inforce more ridiculous rules
  5. I would definitely have someone of an independent position, double check all aspects of the sale. Even better would be to get two to check it.
  6. Omnicron variant has been found in over 20 countries, the majority of them being outside of Africa. Click bait article with an undertone of racism.
  7. I'm presuming you do not reside in Thailand as it is not a democracy!! Its pretty far from being a democratic country!
  8. Africa has been doing much better than the rest of the world with vaccination rates less than 10%. Go figure that one....
  9. There has not been a case of polio in the UK in the last 30 years! Because the vaccine is a vaccine and it works. However this 'vaccine' which technically is not a vaccine its a booster shot, which in some cases can increase the antibiody levels, however 1 in 3 people show no symptoms whatsoever, so you could argue that 20m people in Thailand did not need and had no advantage from taking one or 3 of these shots. The only thing straw man about this is the fact that you compare an unproven and not yet regulated in some countries booster shot, to a tried and tested vaccine.
  10. "If my story does not convince foreigners and Thais alike that any coronavirus vaccine is better than being unvaccinated, nothing will. "In my opinion being vaccinated very probably saved me from a life changing illness. "As it has previously with (diseases like) polio, tetanus, typhoid and hepatitis." Ah yes i remember everyone getting vaccinated against polio and then we all caught polio but luckily our symptoms weren't that bad! What a pathetic comparison.
  11. I got pulled over driving someone elses car with no seatbelt or license on me, and it was a little suspect as there were 3 cops down this little side street. I was with a thai lady and i knew i was to pay a fine, however i tried to give them 400 baht but they wanted 600 baht and i refused and there was a bit of a stand off untill the Thai lady got involved and found out the reason they wouldnt accept the 400 baht was because it was not divisble by 3 ! Hence the 600 spilt between 3 cops was 200 baht each. Anyway once i heard this i laughed and drove off leaving them with the 400 and that was the end of the matter, totally corrupt but if you are in the wrong its hard to take a firm stance on it.
  12. Why would you need to be smart when you have just brought the love of your life a new car and of course you are happy to put it in their name, you are planning the rest of your life together, why on earth would it matter who's name its in. Of course in hindsight it was a ridiculous idea but at the time it a commitment to you wife or gf.
  13. Some will also transfer straight into their mothers name, so that in the instance that you split up its trickier to get the car back from them as its not longer in their name.
  14. I guess it varies throughout the town, best to check it out first if you rely on Internet for work and relaxing. I can vouch for the area near to the Kings Palace, fairly decent.
  15. What i do know is that its not wise to get caught with any amount let alone 700 kilos! The vast majority of the seizures are tip offs and its the same drugs doing circles in and out custody. Just find it surprising considering how cheap labour is that some other perhaps more efficient plan of moving drugs around Thailand. For eg set up a recovery vehicle company and transport the 'faulty / loaded' car on the back of a small transporter, and then therefore you cannot be responsible for the contents of someone else's car, should you get caught and do it in the middle of the day. As opposed to a couple of herberts driving at 3 am loaded with packages that look exactly like what it is!
  16. If i had 700k of weed to transport, my first thought would not be lets literally fill up two cars with it and drive down the road! Its clearly still in the same suspicious packaging also! No wonder they are always getting caught, its either a tip off and just plain stupidity
  17. Not much in utility? How about the ability to safely send a small ammount of value any where in the world, to anyone. Thats pretty groundbreaking and not possible to do with any other system (of course theres is still alot of work to do worldwide but look at the US and El Salvador and how the lightning network lets people trade with tiny fees. However, essentially what Bitcoin is about is that it is digital ownership. By owning part of a bitcoin you dont actually own anything, what you have brought is the ability to sign and transfer a digital record that is 100 % truth, of course there are databses and such like but they can be re arranged, hacked or even just human error can lead to issues within these centralized systems that we use now
  18. Jeez umm not sure i should reply to this but as you have taken so much time on it, i will give you my thoughts. Without crypto i am doing fine, if it went to 0 it wouldnt make any difference to my life at this moment (of course it be a bit depressing but life goes on) Once you get money you realise how useless it really is and has no real connection as to whether you are happy or not, in alot of cases it actually causes you more problems, and im all the about the simple life, be happy with nothing and then anything else is a bonus. My income exceeds my outgoings, so if i build up a little in the bank then i might put it into bitcoin, what else am i supposed to do with it, buy a new fancy car, nah, upgrade my living? nah i have hot water ,heating and a comfy bed. Cant go on holiday to Thailand so i put it somewhere thats more interesting than sitting in the bank. If i needed money i would just cash it out. If you guy really has triple digit bitcoins, its a little mad to not pay of the mortgage, however if he has a good mortgage rate, then his money is better off invested in something that gives a better return than what he already pays for the mortgage payments but however living rent or mortgage free is quite a nice position to be in, less pressure etc, each to their own.
  19. As said if you are a little familiar with the market then you wouldn't write what you write. Yes I've traded but also lost alot of trades, better to buy and hold.
  20. If you were buying in 2013 there is no way it would be possible to invest more than what is already earned. 80% of this time since 2013 the price has been under 9k. I brought 100 bucks (24,000 xrp) of ripple in 2013 and exchanged it for 3.5 btc in 2017. Just as an example. if i have a spare 2k come up then it goes back into btc, I brought nothing between 2015 and 2019, as at that point its future was still unclear, however this last 2 years of government money printing and the approval of ETF's in certain countries has led me to think its still a good hedge.
  21. Nothing to do with IQ, people can see we have an archaic monetary system and the only possible alternative 'money' supply option is bitcoin, so fairly easy to buy something that is also a new asset class. Thats it, you dont need to study crypto you tube or anything like that or have a degree in economics. Some billionaires have invested but so have lots of autistic people Overthink things and you could talk yourself out of investing. Of course im biased as im set up for life now, however im still buying and not left the scene.
  22. I invested in bitcoin in 2013 and contiune to buy today yes even at prices of 65,000, why? because its better store of value than it sitting in the bank.. Look around at all the people now taking part of their paycheck in bitcoin. Mayor of Miami is taking next 3 pay check in btc and also mayor elect. Numerous US sports stars from the NFL. They use a system designed by strike and is not available outside of the US at the moment but surely will be in the next couple of years. Whilst we print endless amounts of money, you need to be taking some sort of hedge imo
