  1. My family got scammed, father had dementia and i should have paid more attention. Lost property and 2m in a loan to the women who was actually a property agent in Hua hin. Whom we thought we could trust not a random from a bar or online. I think they will always take advantage of foreigners and perhaps they thought we had more than we did but pretty much everything we had was lost.
  2. Not Thailand but I also recall one time in Morocco when i checked into a random hotel, didnt know the name of it but grabbed a card from the front desk on my way out. Headed into town and then got a taxi later that night and gave the card to the driver to take me to my hotel........10 minutes later we are sitting outside a building site and he said this was the destination!? Turns out i had picked up a card / flyer for some other new development that was being built! Nothing to do with the hotel i was staying at. So then i had no idea where i was or where my hotel was. Eventually after hours of traveling around and phone calls we eventually found it!
  3. Eva air are good and always my first choice for traveling, they do a premium economy ticket, which is worth a look and generally around £1000 direct LHR - BKK, pre covid price. BA are also the only airline to ever cancel my ticket upon arrival at the airport for departure. Trips with BA and Thai airways have generally been quite a poor experience compared to that with Eva. Cathay Pacific are good but don't fly direct to BKK i don't believe or never used to. I would rather fly Cathay Pacific London to Hong Kong and then connect back to BKK than fly direct from London with BA.
  4. Indeed, sometimes it does feel that incompetence supersedes the possibility of scamming. The funniest part was the subsequent conversation the driver had with his depot. I dont understand much Thai but the depot was not at all happy with the extra journey and i guess it took some explaining, as to why he was not on his way to the next job. Cant recall what happened with the money but im sure i topped up the fee for the driver to get to pattaya. PS I dont normally stay at the Dusit, there was just a flash sale on Expedia.
  5. A few years ago I arrived at BKK airport and instructed the taxi driver to the Dusit Thani Pattaya, he said in Bangkok? i said no, Pattaya. We agreed on a price which i remember thinking was quite cheap but anyway got my head down for the Journey ahead. Was then woken up by the driver outside the Dusit Thani in Bangkok, i said what we doing here we're supposed to be in Pattaya. He replied, you said No Pattaya! Anyone else ended up someone where they weren't supposed to be?
  6. You wont get it in most safes. Ive never put my laptop or phones in any safe just leave them in the room and as mentioned Ive never had anything nicked and probably spent hundreds of nights in all manner of hotels. Only thing i have had taken was a camou baseball cap, which a lady of the night took on her way out of my room one morning, no payment had been made so i looked at it as a good deal.
  7. Looking at the dates, they were brought around 12 - 14 months ago, probably stockpiling during the pandemic perhaps.
  8. The lottery generally just makes the poor poorer, and gives them false hope. Plus apart from thai boxing, every other form of betting is banned. Either ban it all or don't, confusing Thailand.
  9. Not sure how anyone can take any figures from the government with any seriousness. Everyone sees how blatantly corrupt they are, don't believe a word of it it all political jostling. The whole thing has been a joke from the start, not just Thailand but most 1st world cases, the only continent that didnt buy in to it is Africa.
  10. I dont think its about the money as the op could have found cheaper bananas elsehwere if he had wanted to do. The point was he paid an inflated rate to the ML as to try to help her out and she in turn has tried to rip him off with poor quality bananas for monkeys that she knows are not there.
  11. He seemed very proud of his girl and definitely believed 100% of whatever she had been telling him...
  12. ''I just at the bar as greeter i dont go with customer as im just helping my friend with her bar.'' Subsequently seemed quite happy for me to take her home, although i refused the bar fine as technically she wasnt working there (That didnt go down too well)
  13. Couple of free lancers told me that they go to pattaya to get <deleted> every night and then hua hin to get some good money and sleep. (The difference between meeting young and old farang)
  14. Yes most definitely, heart problems seem to be on the increase lately!
  15. A guy i knew from the UK asked me to give his gf some money when i was in Thailand and he was in the UK, he said he would transfer the money to me, which he did and then asked to meet his gf and give her the 20,000 thb. Well i find his gf ok, infact she was still working in the same bar that he had met her and she certainly didnt seem to have any issue with continuing her line of work, although not what she had told him and now i have to give her 20,000 thb lol. What with it being a smallish town, the easiest thing was just to let her have the cash and carry on with whatever it is she was doing. I didnt go back to the bar as didnt want reminding of what i had done.
  16. Sadly reminds me of the young Belgium guy in Hua hin a few years back, who gave his passport to an 'accounting' firm and the lady refused to give back the passport to him and unfortunately it ended with him taking his own life and jumping off the roof of a hotel, he was only 31, tragic.
  17. She wanted money and he was attracted to her. This is a timeline that has been ongoing since the day 1 and will continue to do so. For anyone reading this thread and lives in Thailand and believes this was a wholesome event, you really need to reevaluate things, as you are ignoring reality.
  18. Who on earth is giving their phone numbers to 70 year olds? Happens all the time in west eh!?
  19. When on a trip to the Big C i don't think the mindset is one of that's ready to enter into negotiations with a hooker.
  20. The easiest way to turn off a guy is to ask for money. Girls sort of figured this out by now. She approached him in a shop, she could of asked do u fancy going back with me for 1,500 bht but she would of got nowhere. This way she has a little money but more importantly a foot in the door.
  21. Couldnt tell you about where to get them but it shouldnt be too hard to find out, just ask anyone shop that has one installed already you will get there. My only suggestion would be to let them do the template and fitting. Either they do it all or you do it all, as my experience with Thai builders has been always somewhat confusing and the idea of you fitting after they have cut from your template sounds like potentially a recipe for disaster.
  22. Haha having seen the video, surely this should be classed as Fake News and deleted?
  23. Shes on the game without a doubt, which ever way you dress this up, she is getting money for sex. Hes happy shes happy. Of course she is motivated by money and this certainly should be a concern especially if she knows where he lives etc. My advise going forward would be to be careful going forward and dont tell her more than you need to.
  24. See saw hi kwai fung is useful however it doesn't always get a great reaction!
  25. Alcohol and renting motorbikes and driving in a foreign country where there are no real repercussions for drink driving is going to lead to a few accidents, its inevitable and one way or another his bills will get sorted. No one would dream of renting a bike in the US or UK without a license and certainly wouldn't drink drive all night or morning but this is Thailand were the allure of just doing what you want is quite appealing to many and a change from the attitudes back home.
