I can't really relate, but I understand what you saying, but still, they should know, and in my eyes, to many are doing the same mistakes over and over. The worst is those who get burnt, comes out as women bashers, and treats every women like whores. You see them daily here at the forum, repeatedly expressing the same negativity against women and others relationships. It becomes a mission for them to drag everyone down in the same mudpool as theirs.

Thailand as a Future Destination for Relocation
Hummin replied to kevozman1's topic in General Topics
Back home is agreeable a wide wide term, soI understand your point. Coming from a healthy environment and a country I still love and adore, my choice is colored by my personal opinion and background as well age. I feel I have many more years in me to work, and also hunt, fish, pick food, as well live a bit more sustainable life than I manage to do here in Thailand. Chopp wood, make fire, and experience the dark cold winters under the stars and northern lights, is priceless Just eat cold water fish, crabs, lobsters, rain deer, year around There is so much to do, compared to becoming stuck in Thailand where the political landscape will change, Asian countries will expand and everything will become more expensive, and we are the white guys who more and more Asians starts to despise. Sad but true Asians are Not so different from us, when it comes to colours and who is living in the neighborhood. I believe China will be a great influence on Thailand, and what about us then? Reminding you of how the trade war will escalate, and Thailand is treated by the west as not trustworthy for our high tech weapons they obviously wants to buy. I gamble on my own heritage, but still keep our home in Thailand. -
Sorry, good western restaurants Chez Andy is ok, and also have a few bottles of wine of quality. Except from Chez Andy, haven't come across of any worth mentioning. But please enlighten me. I also made a tread a couple of years ago, and got no replies. Not one reply

the only drawback in Korat is the lack of western restaurants. However there is a few.

no problem to find cheaper, same as beer is possible to be found cheaper in other bars. You pay for location and hopefully better hygiene, equipment and materials used

Thailand as a Future Destination for Relocation
Hummin replied to kevozman1's topic in General Topics
I truly think the golden age in Asia is up, especially for us who can expect to live another 30+ years. We do have a base in Thailand, but I have moved back to Norway, and my wife will follow next year, and build our next home, and both will start working. I actually miss working after being semi-retired, and the potential for both living quality and also a healthy lifestyle is much better in Norway. I actually got bored after travelling all over Thailand several times by motorbikes, car and also in my earlier days by public transport. Have tried to settle with a small farm, and that would be perfect for me, if it was not for the extreme heat last year and pollution that finally broke my wibe. We have been travelling most of the time, and will head down south next week again, but to be true I'm tired of constantly having to travel to kill my boredom, or escaping the smoke from burning fields and forests. I do not expect the pollution to change in the near future, that's why I make my move now, and not later when it is maybe too late. So for the younger ones who dream about Asia, sorry, but it is decades to late.- 97 replies

I had quite a bit travelling experience in work and sports before I landed in Thailand, where I the first years didnt get involved with local girls. A few once and awhile at some beach bars who worked at the Islands, but to be true, it was not normal for those of us who where there for climbing and freediving to get involved with locals. And through those few who got involved with locals I learned alot because I stayed long time at the same places. First later when I moved to Patong, I truly learned the reality of those hot spots living among them as described in an earlier post. Later periodic in Pattaya or Jomtien as well. What surprises me most, is the common main mistake most first timers or men who just arrived for their retirement do, is to jump on the very first and best. Not before landed, and they are captured in the net of an "Black widow spider". The best advise I can give, is to take your time, and learn the womens true nature, then when it is time to get serious, meet her friends and family, and you will now your girl. Any red flags about their friends and family, or how she treats you, you will know where this will end. Simple as that. Their best trick is the silence treatment, and also having sex for then talk about money in some way you feel the need to contribute. Im not talking about pocket money, but donations to fix house, car, buy something, business idea,,,,,,,,,,,,, starts with small money, but all red flags

Should the houses be rebuilt in the very same critical areas? I guess there is possible to built firewalls and make the area safe, and for now at least 20-30 years before there will be any danger for a large fire again, but we all know, we humans tends to build in critical areas out of convenience. The place I wanted to move in Brazil, experience their worst 3 years drought in man made history The droughts of 2023 and 2024 cover an area of 5 million square kilometers—more than half of Brazil's territory—affecting over 70% of municipalities, with 201 classified as experiencing extreme dryness. In addition to natural events like El Niño, there's no denying that human activity is driving these droughts. Brazil is burning. Between January and August 2024, the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) recorded over 110,000 wildfires that have burned through 114,000 km2—an alarming 116% increase compared to the same period last year. While the fires have spread across the country, they are concentrated in the Legal Amazon states of Mato Grosso, Pará, Amazonas, and Tocantins, as well as in Mato Grosso do Sul, home to about 22 million people. This crisis follows devastating floods in Rio Grande do Sul in June, which killed more than 200 people and displaced nearly 400,000 more https://www.wilsoncenter.org/article/brazil-burning-fires-drought-and-looming-environmental-crisis -
Pattaya Other Choices before Pattaya, Ban Chang where I just visited a couple of friends on holiday. Nice little part in Rayong. I would also choose Hua Hin before Pattaya, and Korat before Udon Thani. Pattaya is smelly and dirty as well overcrowded with alot of Traffic almost year around now. Hua Hin, mostly in the prime high season and weekends and not that smelly from.

Surprised nobody defend this man, in comparison to the fine Swiss man who kicked the Dr in the back. Even in the bars, this is not okay. -

I learned by just doing, and I learned alot living in the same condomenium as many service workers in Patong. Internet cafe at the first floor and learned their lives for good and bad. Aslo write many e-mails and letters for their lovers and boyfriends, and maybe one or two here have recieved one I did write back in the early 2000 😄 Anyway it was a good learning and also seen who of those I met there and other places turned out to be good wifes later on. I still kept contact with many of them until I married myself. Even some of the most hardcore party girls I have seen manage to establish good lifes with what I could see was good men who lived normal lifes back home, but I rarely see the same happening with hardcore prostetutes who like to drink and party, and their man also enjoy the bar life setting, manage the same success. Every girl I hanged out with for a longer period, seems to have managed their lives well, and I have to say at a time, I regret I didnt give a couple of them a change, but today I do not regret. I did find my soul mate finely, and regret nothing, it was a great learning all of it. And maybe the best of all, I do not feel any negativity against any of the women I met, and hopefully they do not have any negativity against me. Anyway, I was young and fresh, and more of a buddy to them than anything else, even I have to admit I did fell in love a few times, but I promised myself, to never ever go in to a long distance relationship, and if I was going to have a relationship with a thai women, I would live here, and be here and learn them to know by time. Unfortunately, not one of those women I met, was faithfull to any of their boy friends, after they left. And I can understand why, since most of the men they met, promised to come back, and most did not, so they learned after a heartbreak or two, to not trust any man who promised to come back to them. I also learned they had a hearth to, and quite a few of them had serious brake downs leading them to doing stupid things. Service workers meaning all kind of different work from entrepenours to hardcore bar girls, or just sweet innocent freelancers.

The question is, what is fear? And you are for sure right, it is Trump and his first and last. He doesn't care about the rest. Either you are with him, or against him, and that's representing a true despot or a Don. You choose -

The monarchy have no power! It is a parliamentary democracy that holds the power. The royals is just representing our countries What is in a parliamentary democracy? A parliamentary system, or parliamentary democracy, is a form of government where the head of government (chief executive) derives their democratic legitimacy from their ability to command the support ("confidence") of a majority of the legislature, to which they are held accountable -

His lack of being a decent human, a role model for the next generations. I have no comment about Biden, he should never been a president or Kamala, but in comparison to Trump, hell yes, Obama was a great statesman, but proved even he got 8 years, one or one presidency have limited power against the Congress, and ending up with what we call making horse deals. Yet, in the world, there have never been one government or one Emperor who was successful in everything. Yes, some can make great things for their country after wars and disasters, but seriously, as long extreme socialism and extreme capitalism exists, there will be unhappy people. If you look at the Nordic countries, and I guess New Zealand as well, that's the best optimal systems we can have. It will not get better than that, that's human perfection of ruling can become and satisfying most people. -

I guess it was the same when Hitler arrived, and of course the fear coming with both his followers, and also what he actually threatened to do. He also was unusual @thaibeachlovers and said many things, still yet a big difference both in time, and the logical statements for the time being. Anyway, he actually turns the clock backwards, because the great America with an boosting economy, is not realistic anymore, and for sure threatening your allies, will sooner or later backfire. -

Trump manage to pull the hate against himself just by being him. What he manage to say, is not acceptable from a world leader. And you, pull down your pants, and bend over to this lunatic. Amazing But clearly, he have some charm for the misfits and those who think they will gain something back from him -

Well, that's the ideal way and how it should be, but we need to make everyone pull the same way, and not against each other. Unfortunate we have seen and experienced, war and war rhetoric is the perfect distraction to force people to pull in the same direction. Partly because of to many people gets to comfortable, laziness or lack of purpose (decent work, pay, belief in the future,) And lately massiv distractions by social media, making people to segretad and distanced from the real purposes and also lack of moral. Everyone can be what they want, and believe what they want, and on top of it, to much drugs, and that involves in very big scales the flooding of cocaine in Usa and Europe and also later more legalized marijuana makes huge structural changes in societies. There is a middle ground where everyone or most can thrive, but humans will never be satisfied with the middle ground. They want gladiators and witches for entertainment. Bread and circus = distractions When our competitors and enemies seems more intelligent, we know we are heading the wrong way -

Wokeness in a positive way, but it has its negatives when to extreme wokeness makes us vulnerable and week to our competitors and enemies. Same goes for extreme environment activists gets to much power. One thing is climate changes, another thing is the complete suicide we execute to our self together with extreme wokeness as a society in competition with more pragmatic forces
