  1. The only answer to sudden immigration changes at Chaengwattana? Always make sure you come to this forum and start reading through CW topics a couple of weeks before your appointment or deadline for extension.
  2. Unnecessarily blindsided. But I would like to know if anybody else at CW today submitting for a retirement extension also had to provide two copies of all paperwork. I usually go in with two copies anyway (including bank book) but still it seems poorly thought out doing this without prior notification. Of course, today's turmoil could be what immigration considers "notification."
  3. I thought coronations were supposed to be dignified.
  4. Another annexation. Southeast Crimea.
  5. Seen several. And the change is not for the better. What was cleared out were small forested areas and some other plots with elephant grass. Now, there are just a few rows of banana trees widely spaced. I'm sure some people have expertise on this issue, but doesn't this process create more soil erosion, in addition to making things even less green?
  6. This will appeal to a particular tourist demographic, enhancing Thailand's cultural "soft power." I will not put up the link because it's too graphic. But if anyone wants to see who this is aimed at, just google up "Live Donkey Fed to Tigers at Chinese Zoo."
  7. Seagal has become just a tub of guts.
  8. All true. And the situation with balustrades probably will not change. I've been seeing these stories since I came here almost 14 years ago. There's never even been so much as a ripple of discontent over building safety. Doubt will see liability on the part of building owners/hotels either. But seeing the continuing body count related to falling off balconies, perhaps embassies should put a warning on their websites for their citizens to keep away from balustrades while in Thailand.
  9. Do you try to disagree just to be disagreeable. Listen to the damn broadcast. He says Thais are now unable to live on their native island.
  10. Should be clear enough. Those people you mention came and the locals were able to remain. Now, they're being forced to leave because they can't afford it.
  11. China laughing and waiting for Siberia and most of Russia's eastern possessions to fall into their lap without so much as a whimper.
  12. Anything ever come of the Julian Sands disappearance/death? Seems like it would have received much more coverage than it has. AN completely quiet about it.
  13. Wait until they get around to Anthony Burgess.
  14. Russians now forcing out the locals who can't afford to live on their own native island. Just like what the Chinese did in Cambodia.
  15. Typical. Short shelf life. When they start to go bad, they go bad quickly.
  16. Any list without Orange Julius on it isn't worth taking seriously.
  17. University boards of trustees have always been able to exercise considerable power. It is within their decision making duties to decide whether to eliminate entire programs and/or majors and whether to close them or consolidate them into nearby universities' programs. The DEI legislation is the only thing that sounds new to me about this. https://www.insidehighered.com/views/2021/06/04/universities-fire-tenured-faculty-without-due-process-are-setting-dangerous
  18. For Chuwit, this is better than being prime minister. The PM mostly has his hands tied and is controlled by his political and monetary backers. Chuwit is free to do whatever he wants. There must be scores of government officials who wake up every morning and pray that Chuwit isn't holding a press conference outside their office. Still, I wouldn't want to be standing too nearby when he goes in front of the press.
  19. What China hopes to get out of this is a Korean-like ceasefire, where all the Western countries pay to rebuild both Ukraine and the occupied Russian zones and China just happens to be the winning bidder for all the projects. Thus China advances into controlling yet another region of the globe and Americans pay for it.
