  1. If you're talking about the US, the "jacking" will occur when you get your bill for the ambulance and the trip to the emergency room.
  2. I see the Fresno police are investigating the occurrence as a hate crime. I guess that now is the US equivalence of Thai defamation law.
  3. All original cutting edge material of an avant-garde European stopping to buy food at markets, eating street food, and riding scooters. GoFundMe account is already in place, I hope.
  4. For sure, don't try to control anyone. Let it be like my country, where people are pushed off subway platforms in front of trains, where it is accepted to be able to walk into stores and steal things right off the shelves, to walk around putting your backside into people's faces, to beat them up, steal their cars, and then have the police and district attorneys simply dismiss it all. Yeah, let's make Thailand like that.
  5. Probably right. But that then means a surplus of immigration employees, too. Don't doubt it. Immigration is a jobs program for Thais. Reduce the number of foreigners needing paper work, and you'll reduce the number of Thais working for immigration. So I say, keep everything as it is. Keep everybody happy and employed.
  6. Hospitals? Aren't they already wallowing in the cash?
  7. Wonder if a new government will be stuck with buying those submarines or if they can be cancelled?
  8. I don't know how well that will work out for Thailand. But I would love to see it in the USA.
  9. Would much rather we remain below the radar and just keep things as they are.
  10. CP and the Pizza Guy just lifted their eyebrows and grunted.
  11. Pretty soon, the only people who can afford to buy houses will be from the PRC.
  12. Hysteria and hyperbole. I haven't said a single thing about just which party or coalition I want to see win. I have said repeatedly that I do not think there will be a revolution or civil war. And I think the people predicting it are being irresponsible. I greatly doubt the ability of this group to acquire the resources to achieve anything more than the street protests they made in 2021. But there are some things I even agree with them on. About taking an anti-China stance, for example--something I bet you're not happy with at all. I also think that the only person who has demonstrated a long term capacity to make money for Thailand is Thaksin. At any rate, I don't have a vote in any of this. I have an opinion. But I keep it to myself. I don't go electioneering on message boards because 1) it's not a smart thing to do and 2) ultimately I don't have enough knowledge or experience to match Thai citizens who do have the right to vote and make a decision that best reflects their interest.
  13. That's okay. They'll be too busy looking at their phone to notice.
  14. They did, actually. That was their primary tactic, to disrupt, fade away, and reappear. They copied it from their sympathizers in Hong Kong (didn't work too well for HKers either, btw). The type of street conflicts so many are now calling for will require long term occupation and control of territory--as the red shirts did in 2010. Personally, I doubt that is possible. More of their hit and run strategy to be sure. But that will fade away. After all, it faded away in 2021, didn't it?
  15. Could have received this from Japan years ago.
  16. How long are they going to stay in the streets? Who is going to provide the support facilities for them? The toilets, the rest areas, the medics, the food providers? The red shirts had all that in 2010 and 2014. And they I think are a much hardier group of people, used to working outside and not having too many luxuries. How long before university and high school students want to go into a mall for a/c and an ice cream? Even the red shirts ended up with nothing more than a box lunch, a bus ticket back home, and 500 baht.
  17. Whenever I click on one of these bizarre, nightmare stories on the right column of AN, for some reason I always find it takes me to the Pattaya forum.
  18. You don't think the people at the top of the Thai power structure have ever spoken to a farang? Look at who they are and what their backgrounds are. They can't help but to have spoken, met, and interacted with plenty of farangs.
  19. These sort of comments are now in the double digits on this topic and a few others. And it is nothing but hysteria. Thailand is not Myanmar and nothing like the civil war that is occurring there will ever happen in Thailand. This is crazy talk.
  20. Great start. Don't these new MPs realize that they are under a microscope and the establishment will be using every little thing it can find to start peeling them away. This doesn't effect the overall numbers, but it does show what can happen. They don't need to blow their own foot off. They're plenty of people ready and willing to do it for them.
