It's a race to see which one kills people first, eating themselves into diabetes and heart disease or breathing in toxic air by the lung full.

Hope the quartermasters are out working their "deals." I haven't seen Fritos or cornbread mix in Tops or Foodland since the last navy ship dropped anchor pre-covid.

What's likely behind mysterious 'Havana syndrome' that plagued US diplomats
John Drake replied to Scott's topic in World News
Epidemic hysteria. -
Unnecessarily blindsided. But I would like to know if anybody else at CW today submitting for a retirement extension also had to provide two copies of all paperwork. I usually go in with two copies anyway (including bank book) but still it seems poorly thought out doing this without prior notification. Of course, today's turmoil could be what immigration considers "notification."

Bangkok to Crack Down on Tax Evasion via Agriculture
John Drake replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Seen several. And the change is not for the better. What was cleared out were small forested areas and some other plots with elephant grass. Now, there are just a few rows of banana trees widely spaced. I'm sure some people have expertise on this issue, but doesn't this process create more soil erosion, in addition to making things even less green? -
Resumption of bull, cock and fish fighting and betting approved
John Drake replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This will appeal to a particular tourist demographic, enhancing Thailand's cultural "soft power." I will not put up the link because it's too graphic. But if anyone wants to see who this is aimed at, just google up "Live Donkey Fed to Tigers at Chinese Zoo." -
Putin bestows friendship award on actor Steven Seagal

Seagal has become just a tub of guts. -
All true. And the situation with balustrades probably will not change. I've been seeing these stories since I came here almost 14 years ago. There's never even been so much as a ripple of discontent over building safety. Doubt will see liability on the part of building owners/hotels either. But seeing the continuing body count related to falling off balconies, perhaps embassies should put a warning on their websites for their citizens to keep away from balustrades while in Thailand.

Wait until they get around to Anthony Burgess.
