"Some suggested that the driver of the pick-up could not see behind him because of a container in the rear of his vehicle"
Logic would tell that if you can't see behind you, you should not drive backwards.
But this is Thailand and logic is in short supply.
mirrors allow one to drive backwards....also a driver can put his head out of drivers side window and be able to see

Leave it to the Thais to build an airport near pattaya, which no one knows where it is, and it is virtually inaccessible without a car.
as far as I know I WAS NOT the Thais who built the airport....AMERICANS did for Vietnam war

5 years in jail is a bit tough but then again it's not as bad as 10 years in jail just for smoking an e cigarette.
Amazing Thailand
it was 100,000 baht fine or one year in jail IF caught smoking....NOT TEN YEARS.....sorry you are talking about an E cigarette... thort you were on about the no smoking ban on beaches

AFAIK, smoking isn't illegal there. At least, I've never heard of anyone getting fined for smoking outdoors. Dropping cigarette butts on the ground is what gets foreigners fined on Sukhumvit.
and just HOW MANY people have been fined???

who is going to control/enforce this ridiculous idea/rule/law??????????????????

Actually if my memory is correct, the US CDL for this vehicle with no trailer would require a class B license with air brake certification if so equipped (provided the vehicle is over 29,000 lbs GVW) or 3 or more axles. Even a motorhome with 3 axles requires a non-commercial class B license.
Notice, in the US the republican congress wants to raise the retirement age to 70. Imagine a 69 1/2 year old driving such a vehicle and having a heart attack or stroke.
i do not know age limit for the UK to drive an arctic....tractor and trailer of 40 feet in length

"Drink driving"... give the guy a break. He says he had two small Leos and this would put him nowhere near the limit.
AGREE with you....he surely would be under the limit.....which i think is 50mgs

"Actually I don't know what the requirements are here for a commercial license" you have to pay the fee 500 Baht
as far as I know there are different classes of driving licences.....having said this I not know what driving tests have to be taken

As usual, the problem nicely identified and, as usual, no solution identified. We got the exact same thing with the sewer problem story. Time for some action, fellas.

They love cement , Everything is concreted .Out the back of 3rd rd used to be fields and a huge pond where apart from collecting excess water they had karioke entertainment huts at night , Today all filled ,cemented over and highrise condos !!! What and where does one expect the water to go ??? I,m sure as heck the correct infrastructure is not placed underground. The development of Pattaya over the last 15-20 years has been rapid and random construction allowed everywhere .It always has had flooding issues and always will . Has the new Tunnel to Jom Tien filled up yet???? Is it actually operating 5 years on?? As well as the flood problem ,theres pollution , roundabout , baht bus , traffic ,the list just goes on and on , When you have monkeys in power what can one expect!
TELL me where the tunnel to JOMTIEN is.....would like to go see and drive through it
Back to Pattaya we go, Mr Crusoe
