PM me if you would like to know the name of my agent on Soi Buakhao that I have used for many years without problems.
Though as a previous poster has alluded to, we now have to go in person to be photographed by the original immigration officer????????????
I'm central pattaya too.
Thanks.
Its been a common practice with the preferred agents, that you attend J.I.
Have a snapshot taken by Khun * at desk 8.
You are officially on the books then...

I have no idea what they are on about as my passport is under process for the extension.
Then directed outside with imm officer who talks another 15 minutes.
Then wife says she wants to give you a marriage visa for one year , no need police report no need money, but she will only talk to my wife -- fee = 17,ooo Bht.
I say I dont need as we going home and not coming back until next year, when I will obtain a non O married from the Thai consulate, but tell her thanks a lot will come to see her in the future.
So this service is alive and well, thanks a lot for those who need help.
There are several beliefs that agents approach the immigration office..
More close to the truth is that the Immigration office seniors have approached a selection of agents who they prefer to work with.
I can only speak to my own experiences.
And friendship associations as to how this works.
Plus NO bank account details needed for retirement extension renewals.

Maybe the actual permit stamps etc. are on top of this.?
This is just the application fee.
Thai Visa is advertising 14,000 renewal extension.
The local agents group in Pattaya are saying 17k plus 4.5k multiple entry stamp this year.
2 day service.
All receipts provided.
No bank book balance required.
What senior immigration officials do is no different from what senior police officers do.
Just another business day in Thailand.

You just have to look at the list of penalties and fines posted in a police station and then realize that they basically apply to Thais, plus the usual 3 wais.
Then look what a farang is charged, plus the "special treatment" fees to keep you out of the monkey house and stop immigration from being involved.
A friend was pulled out at Big C after check out and was found to have a pack of batteries in the shopping mix, all of 92 baht.
Granted he is in his seventies, but who can say what actually happened?
Bottom line...
Police called, arrested, monkey house, bail offer of 50k pending a court hearing next day.
He had substantial money on him as he was flying to the UK for Christmas the next day.
Good cop role play comes into affect.
The closed door offer was to help him, but a 40k lubrication was required to stop immigration involvement.
(HE was flying out the following night).
So next morning he was in pattaya courts and fined 2500 baht.
Big C always take legal action.
Plus the 40k to the senior level officer at pattaya.
Plus he still has to get the 50k bail bond refund on his return, less a 10k police taxi service to and from court.
Seriously doubt if he will come back.
It really shook him up..
A true story.
And explains why I could comment on the old chap abandoned by friends several weeks ago.
I was there, assisting the friend.
Add to the list several 7/11 stores that knowingly put items in your basket and then pull you up for non payment.
With offers to settle in the back room..
Its endemic..
Anyone who has not experienced this is lucky.

He never should have been arrested in the first place. It just shows how backwards and corrupt this place is.
Where is all his money and who owns his property/vehicles now?
As my mate Dennis says in Bangkok, every time I visit.
"Thank you for the contribution".
Corruption, lies, deceit, is a way of life for many here.
And sadly they do not see anything wrong with this.
My thai ex used to say, "Farang have, Thais have not, ok to take"...
She had a fair chunk of mine; her and her family...

I did my daily walking around the condo today and about 60% have unpaid Bill's and accounts hanging out of the letterbox.
Not to mention chained up deserted bikes in the car parks.
Nirun condo is not everything to everyone.
But did have 7000 people staying here.
Not any more.
And monthly rates are at 5000 in high season.

I think the era of cheap hookers has finally come to a bitter end all over the world with the internet&smartphone age, it takes only a few taps for our formerly a village girl now in Manila or Bangkok to find out what a 30 year old hooker in Paris or Madrid charges for an hour of "good time" and she arguably thinks she is younger and fresher therefore should ask as much as her counterpart.
It's a thai thing.
Demand is down so they put the price up.
Like buying a car.
They want more for a second hand one than when bought it new...
No idea about age and depreciation.
Women included.

??? Now this is getting out of hand. I have many long term hotels in mind where I would be staying and planning to get long term rate. 3 months I could do for a lease/agreement. Assuming they give me such paperwork. I don't sign anything long term anywhere as I have many living situations change in my life so I don't commit much. But really now not accepting hotel for living? What is left? Condos or house rentals? Trying to force foreigners to buy units? Buy house but of course can't buy land? What is going on?
The way it is, you can get 3 months condo agreement for 5000 a month.
Many places in pattaya.
I have another one now.
Jomtien immigration is happy with.
Several years ago I went from 60 day TR to Non O 90 days.
Then from this to retirement extension.
Before you needed 800k etc.
But depending on your location you can get a rental agreement pretty easily...

Won't you be a little worried when a real immigration officer has a look through your passport.
The stamps are legitimate and real.
Real ink.
Real immigration officials.
Done at the same desk and time as everyone else.
The system recognizes the database information and entries.
Unfortunately for some it's the only way to stay here now.
They don't have 65k a month income or 800k to lock away.
Exchange rates are crippling many.
But have thai families and their families, who they stay here to support..

The punter recieves a perfectly lgitimate stamp in his passport and has told no lies and provided no false documentation to obtain. Nothing illegal from the punter's POV.
The illegality comes with the graft between the agent and the IO. Difficult to prove, and as it involves a senior IO, no one is likely to try.
Putting the bottom line on this... hopefully...
Visa agents have a relationship with the respective immigration officials.
The officials maintain a certain amount of agents and the exchange is about 70/30 of the charged money.
The process is completely auditable, because its done on the same desk at immigration as every one else.
The IO computer shows all the relevant information needed to authenticate the stamping and future checks.
Proof of funds, and issue of official receipts for the same.
(A friend, first time through an agent actually asked one of the big officers at Survanabhumi and he responded with, "All good, he good man who sign for you".
I think that you may read something printed about the chief of the relevent immigration office having discretionary powers.
This is obviously one of those... ????????????
Like almost everything else in Thailand there is always another way.

Is it worth the risk?
They have now arrested an officer at CW - how deep will this go? and if your extension/visa was processed by the same guy, then there may be a knock on your door. ????
Good luck to you all.
Would have to go up to the number one in the immigration department office you went through..
I think that if you are using who they prefer you are okay.
If outsiders are diluting the take, then watch out...

It all comes down to proper training. The culture of police traffic management never changes here. There is no mobile traffic policing such as what we have in Western countries e.g. active road traffic police motorcycle or car patrols. Where to start, that's the problem.
Correct.
In Australia and the UK TOGs and Highway patrol officers are to be feared.
They are unforgiving in thier jobs..
They actually studied the law and its relationship to the job...

Yesterday, I saw a police officer in full uniform being given a lift on a motorbike by a civilian who was not wearing a helmet. Is that ridiculous or what ?
Not at all...
Was given a ride back from pattaya courts by a police officer in the police car.
No seat belt.
He said ok not need, we are police officers...
Says it all doesn't it?

But going online makes it all different?
The source said that the shooter had built up considerable debts from online football gambling.
Which (also off topic slightly) gives rise to mention of the set top box and banning them...
Something definitely amiss in the thai system.

Influential local..
Can kiss this one goodbye.
Seriously though.
Will be interesting to see how the end result will be.
A little bit more than 3 wais and 500 baht fine I think.

Are you being serious? You want to assist your "rented" girlfriend AKA hooker in extorting child support from another guy who no doubt fled because he wanted nothing to do with her? If you want to pay for her that's one thing, but trying to make another man pay for her is a whole different level.
Sounds weird.. odd actually.
My thai wife was deserted by her thai husband when she became pregnant with the second child.
(He took off and found a new model).
We all know the story.
She (my thai lady) will not have anything to do with claiming support for the kids here in Thailand, which is supposed to be available until the age of 20.
So why would a rental relationship thai lady want to pursue the UK system for child support???
