If go back Uk and stay at the address on your UK DL don't see how that would be illegal if you do have a valid DL from another country.

    I do it.

    My brothers address.

I even applied for the UK plastic card licence because the paper one had vanished.

    It was issued.

All my previous classes were included.

    Even my motorbike.

And trucks and passenger vehicles up to certain weights.

I've used the UK licence as id for several UK government departments.

    And not an issue.

And I know they cross data match everything.

DWP also accept the address for correspondence.

That's not heavy at all and the way he's carrying it is quite safe. It's 12x0.6kg = 7.2kg x 3 = 21.6kg of water plus plastic bottle weight. That's exactly the back position one would use for a squat or deadlift, but the weight is very light. You could do that all day long without any risk of injury. Even a girl could easily handle that.

    Check the video.

He starts with large bottles at the bottom for support and puts smaller on top..

    Still not excessive.

I had mega issues delivering Workplace Training here.

OH&S is just something they print on the banners at the factories and building sites.

There's no enforcement or mandated regulations.

This is the document they reference.

(Occupational Safety and Health Series No. 59, Geneva, 1988) has been taken into consideration when adopting this Ministerial Regulation. The Committee notes that section 1(1) regulates the maximum weight to be lifted, carried on head or shoulders, pulled or pushed, of 50 kg for male workers, which is in accordance with the Convention.

It notes that the maximum weight is 25 kg for young male employees between the age of 15 and 18 years old. However, noting the Government’s statement in its report that the maximum weight for male workers is 55 kg, while the Ministerial Regulation of 2004 states 50 kg, the Committee requests the Government to provide clarification on the maximum weight for male workers with its next report.

    3. Article 7. Female and young workers.

The Committee notes that under section 1(1) of the Ministerial Regulation of B.E. 2547 (2004), the maximum weight to be lifted, carried on head or shoulders, pulled or pushed is 20 kg for young female employees between the ages of 15 and 18 years old and 25 kg for female workers. It feels obliged to reiterate its previous reference to the ILO publication

Maximum weights in load lifting and carrying which provides for 15 kg as the limit,

    25kg. 55kg.  Same same.

The International driving permit is tied to your passport so they can find you if there are any problems such as claims etc.

Ive had several IDPs and none have reference to my passport.

My last issued in Australia against my Australia licence.

It doesn't even reference to the Australian licence.

Just the address I use in Australia.

Which is also interesting because my UK licence is my brothers address in the UK.

Where I stay when not in Thailand.

I understood that the permit was to be carried along with the licence from the issuing country?

Plus a Thai translation is handy.

Because it's not printed in Thai.

I could be wrong on that.

And mr Prayuth should sack every police-districtchief if he sees a motocy taxi driving against traffic in his district. The police just looks the other way for them

Nowhere worse than outside BIB hq, central Pattaya.

Ride where they want, do as they like.

An officer put on a tourist pr show and actually stopped the traffic for us to cross the road.

The only ones who didn't stop were the bike taxi and the taxi vans.

Sort of tells you something doesn't it?

    Impervious, or protected?

All sites like Lazada, Ebay, Amazon, etc., are basically a middle man between the seller and buyer.  These companies have the seller agree to certain things in order to sell on their site like "Thou shall not sell fakes, etc" and if you, the seller, do sell fakes we might remove that listing or even suspend your account.  But since greed is the overall driving force for the seller and online company such as Lazada, Ebay, Amazon, etc.,  for both of them to make money the penalty for selling fakes is like a slap on the hand and makes both parties more than willing to continue to the practice behind the facade of selling fakes will be swiftly and harshly dealt with.

Ebay's policy on selling fakes....a slap on the hand type policy.

I got a 3 days on the bench for trying to sell multi tool which had a blade in it.

Plus another 9 gadgets. EBay UK.

    Australia is not a problem.

    Cash is king..

You can be a dodgy seller on eBay now and just pay a few % extra fees, and it's ok...

So that tells you a lot.

    Hardly any private sellers now.

All drop shipped Chinese or similar.

    And normally cheap and nasty.

Lazada is part of Alibaba group.

Can anybody confirm categorically whether you can get a Certificate of Residence (for the purposes of obtaining a driving licence) on a 30 day exemption stamp upon arrival. The immigration office is Chiang Mai. I have not had time to go and get a a visa from the local consulate.

Reading through the the relevant forums their seems to be mixed experiences on the issue/subject.

    Thanks in advance.

You can. If you have residence details.

    Valid for 30 days.

An airport visa waiver is only 30 days, plus possible extension.

    Someone might ask why?

Same getting a licence or bank account on a TR .

    Sometimes they ask why.

    But you can do all.

How much money does the 5 year DL cost? I have a 2 year one expiring in 1 week.

Also, what is the easiest way obtain a "Certified letter of address from the applicant's embassy, or from the Immigration Bureau"

Immigration is a few km away but my embassy requires a BKK trip. Not sure how to get immigration to issue a certified letter of address.

Counter will give you a form and number.

    Passport photo required.

It's typed up and pickit up in one hour 300 baht.

Or wait and get it free.

    One certificate one licence.

    So it says.

I have separate bike and car. So two certificates.

If you are between immigration offices or embassies too far, I have had one from a police station before. 50 baht.

It's not supposed to be charged for.

Jomtien hit you 300 under the guise of expedited service.  One hour.

But previous threads have discussed it should be free.

Just to be clear, are you saying this for the Thai DL? I have a 2 year one and don't need the 5 year DL immediately (no vehicle). But my 2 year one expires in 1 week.

I'd be happy to put it off for a few months if it doesn't cause any issues renewing later.

    And so you can.

The way they date them you can almost get 6 years out of a 5 year licence.

Hello, .. I have been looking for more detail on your comments  of going back for 6 months of the year.  That would mean my UK licence is invalidated as I spend less than 6months of the year there. Cannot find anywhere it is mentioned on any dvla website .. Help appreciated.

    Ditto..

I visit the UK on and off.

    Sometimes twice a year recently.

    Certainly don't reside there.

I use my brothers address for my UK licence.

    And many other things.

The U.K. one has numerous other vehicle types on it too, plus trucks.

I even transcribed my full bike licence to my Australia licence HC, from the UK one.

Methinks someone speaks with forked tongue.

    But will stand corrected.

I think DVL has a site to check on?

It is a mystery to me when getting the same package from TOT as myself you have a vastly superior service . What am I not doing or should I be doing for improvement . Experienced buffering & freezing last night watching UK ITV .

    Repeat ,  speed test within Thailand  good 90 / 24 ,   outside Thailand  varies   5 / 1 & unstable

    Similar with True.

I'm just out of Pattaya and the pack is 50/20.

Down is pumping out at 300mbs of which I'm usually getting 60+.

    Unloading is totally variable.

Should be 20 mins, but recently I've been getting 1mbs which is abysmal.

In defence of True they put English speaking techs on it and can pick the speed up somewhat.

Without getting too technical, it's the latency,  or cas latency (The grunt) that it's delivered with.

Think of water in a 12mm pipe and water in a 25mm pipe.

    Deliverability I suppose.?

    Today is rubbish. Picture 1

I just called True and the speeds are now double plus some.

    Picture 2.

Does anyone know if Lazada obtains licences for the Android boxes it sells?

    Found this on the net.

    2) Licensing Requirement

Any person who wishes to manufacture, import, trade, possess for trade, or possess for installation an Internet TV Box or any similar device under (1) must obtain a license from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

    https://www.bakermckenzie.com/en/insight/publications/2017/04/thailand-internet-tv-boxes

Reading the small print it appears that the legality of the order is in question.

My law studies went as far as workplace and contract,  but the wording towards the end of the hyperlink suggests that all be it a 2 million baht fine / 2 years in prison,  if the law is followed, the legality of making this law may we be illegal..

    Phew..

I know that they are still available for sale, many places.

And this wording implies that possession of a box, is intent to use it.

Regardless of whether you pay a fee or not...

Keys to turn on water-pumps?, what a bulsh...! Those kind of pumps have to start automatic when the water in the "water-bank"  reach a certain level, nobody has to start anything or otherwise what kind of pumps are those....... on steam? what time they live in.

If I'm reading it right, the underground tank system with pump s has not been handed over yet.

    Not Commissioned in other words.

So the keys were not with the city department responsible for water downpours.

    Automatically activated or not.

Another ministry of silly walks cock up.

  15. It's wide spread we know.

In every aspect of the tourism $.

The Chinese come to Pattaya in their busloads and spend where they are told to spend.

Do not tip, because it goes to the group leader to distribute.

    Never happens.

    Even Phuket airport.

The taxi vans cannot pick up at the exit.

They have to pay a tout to show a sign or flag on their behalf..

    Bus from airport to Pattaya.

    Full, take next one.

Slip him 50 in the Palm of your hand, and you are on.

Just had a survey done on land in the village.

Paid the Land Office and then paid the survey team to speed it up, plus providing lunch and drink.

It's not a tip for job done.

It's donation to actually get it done, on top of the fees.

We can all write a book on this feature of life in Thailand.

Re-gas is a myth and simply means your unit is leaking refrigerant. Yes, the unit will work better, briefly, but there is a good chance the  unit suffers from excessive wear if it has been used for long without proper amounts of refrigerant.

In the sense that they differ from a car in the possibility of leaking, yes.

If it's an unknown quantity in that it may have been moved or an unknown quality of install,  it may be flogging itself for little output.

I've seen many pulled out at condos and replaced, lines re routed from the outdoor unit.

Some partial loss of refrigerant is possible.

Some companies are saying five to seven years and update the technology.

Not going to happen here in the land of smiles.

  17. If people want to get seriously into the cost of electricity here, there are gadgets you can buy that show your usage at any time.

Or get a qualified sparky to put a meter on and switch things on and off.

You will soon see the load/usage and obviously a little bit of maths (which looks rusty on here today) and you can see instantly what the cost is going to be...
